Bedtime Shenanagans & Noise

BACKGROUND: My daughter is 26 months old and sleeps in her crib. She is very happy in her crib and I do not intend on moving her to a bed until she shows signs of wanting to climb out or get a big girl bed. Her room is directly next to my son's room, who is 11 months old. Unfortunately, the walls are thin and sound carries easily. We have white noise playing at a moderate (not soft!) level to try to mask house noises (so the baby's crying doesn't wake her and vice-versa.) Moving rooms is not an option. She is really good about...

Seeking 12 Month Old Routine

Hi. What do you do with your 12 month old, especially in the morning? Mine takes a long nap now around 10:00 (about 1.5 to 2 hours) then it's time for lunch. At this point, I can get him out. I would take him to a class in the morning, but then I'm stuck in the car for his 2 hour nap afterwards. He doesn't transfer well from car to house. Anyone care to share their typical day with me? thanks!

Seeking Advice for Potty-trained 2.5 Yr Old at Naptime

I am seeking advice on how to curb my 2.5 yr old's idea of "funny" each Saturday at naptime. She throws out all her bedding and stuffed animals, then strips down (even her naptime diaper) and poos all over her sheets. She then triumphantly calls to me to see. I've tried to tell her this is yucky and germy - I've taken away TV and other tangible items, but she just doesn't get it. She is also not sleeping at all in the afternoon, but only on Saturdays and Sundays, when she is home. Help, please!

How to Survive a 13 Hour Plane Trip with a 17 Month Old??

My husband and I are flying from West coast US to Australia next month with our 17 month old son. His favorite word is down and he is NOT a cuddler!!! I am starting to collect a few ideas on how to get through this flight (plus the 2 3-hour flights on either side of it). My pediatricians only advice was to not do it... this is not an option!! We will be there for 3 weeks and then have the same flight pattern home. Has anyone been in the same spot? What about using benadryl or something to help him sleep? (mind you, I am NOT a fan of...

Miss No Naps

Hello, My almost three year old has decided she doesn't want to take naps anymore. Every afternoon I read her a story, tuck her into her bed with her music on, and then the battle begins. We spend the next hour or so with her coming out of her room saying she is not tired or that she doesn't want to take a nap and then me dragging her back to her room and tucking her in again, and again, and again... By the time she actually falls asleep, if she falls asleep, it’s pretty late in the day to be sleeping and then I have a hard time...

Stay at Home Schedule

I am looking to create a daily schedule for our 4 year old. Some thing from 8AM wake up time to 8 or 8:30 PM sleep time. Some basic activities, structured play, he is a type A personality child and we are trying to get him into a daily routine to have more peace in the house. Plus I DO NOT LIKE the amount of tv he gets in a day. He has an addiction to the tv we can't even turn it on for us (the adults) because he gets glued to it. It is extremely difficult to get him to sit still at any time for anything, even meals. I breastfeed...

Flight with 16 Month Old

I will be taking a flight soon with my 16 month old. I have flown with her many times, but not since she has started walking and I took her off the bottle. I plan to bring our portable DVD player, but she is not at an age yet where that takes her attention for long. I am looking for ideas on small, but entertaining toys for the airport and flight. I am also wondering how to help with popping her ears (when she was on the bottle I would just put it in her mouth). By the way I will be by myself with her. Thanks!
