Exzema/dry Skin on My 22 Month Old

my daughter has dry skin all over. Drier patches on her elbows and the back of her arms, her thighs and calves. She scratches her tummy and her upper and lower back often. I have tried lots of creams and stuff and nothing seems to work well. We use cortizone for the itching but her skin is still ALWAYS dry. Is there a different cream that you have used succesfully. I have also thought about putting her on an Omega 3 childrens supplement.

My son who was born with Asthma has been on Allergy medicine and (an Albuteral inhaler as needed) from birth, He is now 9 years old and doing great in school, very little Asthma attacks! Help W/ Eczema on 6 Month

My 6 month old has had a rash in the creases of her arms and behind her knees for nearly 5 months now. The doctor said it's eczema and to just put lotion on it, but its really bothering her now. She tries to itch it with her hand and feet any chance she gets, and now shes starting to cry when she does itch it. Its bright red and super dry. Is she too young to use cortizone cream on it? Does any one have a simple remedy? Help, were desperate!

Allergy Testing for 13 Month Old

My 13 month old has severe excema on his head and face. At our last doctor visit (last week) my doctor suggested that we get him tested for allergies to see if that would help his excema. His excema is really bad and he constantly itches it and cuts himeself on his scalp. We are using a steroid right now and I would hate to continue to use it so that he is comfortable. So I am asking if anyone has had their toddler allergy tested and what does it entail? Was it painful? I am thinking it is a good idea because if it is an allergen we...

Another Ear Infection: 3Rd Set of Tubes or Steroids???

Its eartube decision time - again. My son has another ear infection (I think) just three weeks after his last one. He is 2.75 and has been suffering from frequent ear infections since his 1st birthday. He got his first set of tubes at 18 months, they worked for 9 months with no infections, and then he blew one and then the other out in the spring. His ENT took the watchful waiting approach, but with 5 infections in four months we put in new tubes. He has had infections in both ears since the tubes (in July), and then three weeks ago...

Should Newborns Be Given Steroids?

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but here is what happened: My second daughter was born last week. The day of her birth, the pedriatic nurse said that my daughter wasn't breathing as well as she'd like, probably because there was inflamation in her nose from procedures after the birth (personally, I thought it was because the maternity room we were in was hot, dry, and stuffy.) The nurse said a dose of the glucocorticosteroid, prednisolone, in my daughter's nose should clear up the inflamation and return her breathing to normal...

22 Month on Albuterol for More than 2 Weeks

My son was hospitalized over 2 weeks ago for his breathing issues. When he got out we went about a week and a half with albuterol treatment about twice a day. When I was certain his breathing was back to normal I stopped the treatment. The very next day he is sick again and I noticed really fast breathing timed his breathing and he was over 40 breaths per minute, did a breathing treatment and called the pediatrician in the morning. He added a month steroid given through the nebulous or and children's Allegra and said continue with the...

Steroids for Fetal Lung Development?

The goods new is the baby is healthy and above average in weight, however, the drs. are quite certain I will have an early csection, due to complications/high risk and have talked about giving me steroids to speed up the baby's lung development (I A. 29.5 weeks right now). If you were given steroids to speed up lung development, can you tell me what the experience was like? Any side effects for the baby (or you)? I really do understand that this is for the benefit of the baby, in the event he comes early, it gives him the best chance of...

6 Month-Old Not Eating Enough

Hi everyone-- My daughter just had her 6-month checkup and is near the bottom %ile in body weight, I guess? She's 27 inches long (very long!) and weighs 13 lbs, 11 oz. Anyway, the doctor was concerned: told me to supplement breastmilk with formula and start feeding her fatty foods like avocado, egg yolks, whole milk yogurt, etc. My thought is: feed her yummy stuff that she'll like (fruits, etc.) and she'll eat more.... Any advice? Anyone else experienced this with their baby? I'm trying not to worry too much because she seems happy and...
