A cream foundation (even if its cream to powder) is not comfortable on the skin particularly in a humid climate. You would want to determine what level of coverage you want. Unless you have major discoloration, a full-coverage foundation like a cream actually is aging. Less coverage, something sheer, actually adds luminosity while showing skin so looking like you are naturally radiant. I have normal to oily skin, and have found covergirl clean foundation to be natural looking and not too heavy. Put it on just after your moisturizer to smooth it out, or you can mix in a bit with the moisturizer in your palm, apply it, then use a concealer with brush for areas needing more coverage. There is a covergirl concealer in a lipstick style tube...it's inexpensive, but really looked more natural on my undereye circles than the more expensive brands.
Great drug store foundations: Revlon Colorstay in Normal/Oily (lasts in humidity, but feels a little weird at first), Covergirl Clean, & the Maybelline Mousse type has a natural matte finish. If you want a cream to powder, Covergirl has a good one with Olay amino-peptides in it to encourage collagen regeneration. The yellow-based neutralizing undereye concealer is also phenominal if used lightly. You'd also be surprised how well using a skin matching concealer on just the discolored spots, a slightly lighter concealer for undereye, and a loose powder (Almay Pureblends is luminous and flawless) perfects the skin. I'm dying to try the L'oreal Studio Secrets primer with this method, it's supposed to be great.
PS. Oily skin can change the color of a foundation especially in a powder finish as it absorbs the oil.
