First off let me say I never wear makeup but am starting to think it would be nice every now and then. All I want is something easy like a powder foundation that I can simply brush on and be done (with the exception of a little lipstick/lipgloss). I have relatively light skin with a lot of freckles and just uneven skin tone from being out in the sun with my kids all the time. My skin is pretty sensitive and when I have tried makeup in the past I have ended up breaking out so I need something that will not create acne. I have three children under four so I don't have a lot of time to spend getting myself ready. I am in my early 30's and want to continue to look like it. I appreciate any suggestions and advice you can give.
I cannot thank you all enough for your responses! I was clueless before about makeup and now I have recommendations for makeup that is easy to use and looks great. All I have to do now is figure out which brand will be best for me -- I think I'll be going with a mineral makeup so it's just a matter of which one. Thank you again!!!

Try Jane Iredale. You can order it from DermStore. I used to use Prescriptives and Estee Lauder, and realized years later that it made me break out. I kept buying heavier and heavier foundation to cover up my skin imperfections and believe that the heavier foundation was adding to the problem. Look at cosmeticsdatabase.com and you will find ratings of cosmetics based on their toxicity.

It took me ages and ages and finally a dermatologist to discover that I could not use any foundation or skin care products which contain oil. I would get break-outs.
I have the same skin-type as you do, so perhaps you should also be on the alert and purchase only products which do not contain oil of any kind.
This simple bit of knowledge saved me many years of problem skin and now as long as I never break the rule, my skin remains clear.
Ensure that you do not use a make-up remover containing oil either when you remove your foundation at night.
Your night cream should be oil-free too.
All the best!

Just my weird two cents... I have a lot of friends who rave about pure mineral cosmetics. So it didn't surprise me that you received a lot of recommendations for Bare Essentials and pure mineral based products. But here's the thing that stops me from using it... And yes, I could be wrong because it has been a long time since I took chemistry and biology in college....
There is no FDA approval process or research done on cosmetics.
That being said, mineral cosmetics are essentially elemental metallics. Remember the periodic table in High School...? All those metallic molecules can get easily absorbed into your skin, bind with your blood cells and get deposited in your tissues, brain cells and ovaries. Iron is also an elemental metal. Before we knew better, they put iron in facial creams too. I don't know... You all can call me paranoid, but I would think twice before putting pure zinc, magnesium and copper on my face--especially during child bearing years. Those minerals are only a couple blocks over and down from Iron on the periodic table.
And yes, you will have some zinc and copper ingredients mainstream cosmetics. However, its diluted. And I'm sure someone may chime to offer a view that mainstream cosmetics contain chemical additives. But I've had too many biology classes to put pure mineral metallics on my face day after day.

I don't like to wear much make-up, but you should be wearing SPF moisturizer everyday to prevent aging, more freckles, skin cancer, etc. I use a combo lightweight tinted moisturizer with SPF 15 in it. It makes the skintone even and protects your skin and doesn't have anything that will cause breakouts. There are lots of products like this - choose the one that works for you. That and some lip gloss is usually all I wear. If I want to dress up a little more, I use a little bronzer on the cheeks and a little eyeliner.

Hey H.!
I hear you girl! I am a make-up minimalist too, when it comes to day to day wear. But I love fashion and make-up, go figure! Anyway, I was reading that for every day wear just a bit of concealer under your eyes, bronzer for a sun-kissed look on your cheek bones and bridge of your nose, a light shadow with a little mascara for your eyes and finish it off with either clear or a light shade of lip gloss is the way to go. That is what I do anyway, so I was so happy to find out that it is chic ;) I am like you, I have really fair skin and a bunch of freckles on my nose and the tops of my cheeks right under my eyes. So I just put on my concealer to make my eyes look nice and bright and let my freckles just rock out. I think freckles are really cute on people. Oh I forgot to mention above that having nicely manicured eyebrows makes your whole face look great too. You don't want to go too thin, just pluck the wild ones in the center and under the brow. Then get a brow pencil that is about the shade of your hair, or a little darker is ok too. When I am in a hurry I just throw on concealer and line my brows and go, it still looks clean and nice. Now if you are concerned about evening your skin tone, you can get a hypo-allergenic foundation like clinique or almay and do well with it. I used to use it but my hubby likes my skin better without it. If you do use foundation, just moisturize your skin first and then apply it lightly and still use concealer under the eyes, it really makes them pop. If you notice in the movies, this is how the stars are wearing their make-up lately, giving them a pretty fresh faced look. Well have fun and I hope this helps!! ;)

Hi H.. It is difficult for sensitive skin to find a make-up that you are happy with. Try to find a consultant in a large department store for help. I start my day off with sunscreen and plenty of water. I am 59 years old and spend alot of time outdoors winter and summer with childcare children. I wear lipstick and mascara only and have been told many times that I have good skin and they can't believe my age. WATER WATER WATER and sunscreen. That would be my recommendation. I love the natural look. Too many woman walk around looking like they are going to a modelling shoot. Just my opinion. I think freckles are Gods natural beauty.

Pur Minerals is wonderful! You can find it at Ulta. I did use Bare Minerals for several years, but it gets kind of "cakey" and I have found that Pur Minerals does not do that. Plus, Pur Minerals is pressed powder foundation that comes in a compant with a mirror and sponge underneath it for touch-ups. Bare Minerals is loose powder and is very messy.

Bare minerals is the answer for you:) I have been using in for years and its the greatest. Its a powder foundation with spf 15 and contains mica for a little shine. Shear coverage that evens everything out, your skin only better. A great intro to makeup if you have never worn any, and it sits on top of your skin and doesn't get into your pores so no break-outs. Good luck.

I have light, sensitive skin too and I break out really easily. I use Rimmel London Stay Matte, and Cover Girl pressed powder. They give you good coverage, they even can hide small blemishes. I look for products that won't clog pores and that are hypoallergenic, also oil free products are a must. I used to go all out on my make-up but since the birth of my daughter I've been keeping things simple. These products have been a life saver. I usually brush a coat of mascara just on my top lashes just to finish it up. It only takes me a coule of minutes in the morning.

It will keep your skin looking younger for years. I thank my mother every day for that advise!
I notice alot of people suggest Mary Kay. I have broke out with them every time I try it and it feels heavy. But, you may have a better experience if you try it.

When I want super-easy, I use a tinted moisturizer. I use moisturizer everyday anyway, and it completely removes the foundation step. I have used Clinique's version. You might go to their counter in a dept. store and talk to them about whether it might make you break out, etc. Recently I have started using Mary Kay foundation, which I really love, and a Mary Kay rep could also help you choose what you need for your skin type.
I used to wear make-up only rarely, but in the past couple of years I have started wearing it daily--at least foundation, mascara, and lip gloss. It doesn't take a lot of time, but I just feel better about myself and the day when I make that little bit of effort.

I have similar, fair & sensitive, skin. I have used a couple of different powder foundations and my favorite is Bare Essentials/Minerals (alvalible at Ulta- they almost always have a special going on for a starter kit). I have found that the foundation is light enough to keep my skin happy but covers enough to make me happy. The colors they have in the kits are pretty neutral, so since you don't wear make-up every day that would probably work well for you... highlight the beauty don't overpower it.
One thing I will suggest for whatever brand you choose is to invest in good brushes, because they make all the difference. I have found nice natural sable (as in animal fur) brushes on ebay for about $15 per set. The only brush that was not included is the Kabuka (I think that's the name) brush, which is a short handled fat bristled (lots of bristles) brush that is great for evening out foundation.
Good luck!!
p.s. Merle Norman also carrys a nice powder foundation you may want to give a shot. Matter of fact, you may want to go to both places and have them do you makeup, wear it for a day and then go back to the place you like better.

I too, have very sensitive skin. I love Origins they usually have one inside Dillards. They also have specialists that will show you how to apply the makeup. There are always specials going on. A few weeks ago I went for a makeover, facial and 30 minute massage...all for FREE! Another one of my favorite things is that they keep a card on file with all of my information on it, so when I run out of something, they just pull my card and get the right color/product...whatever. I don't have to take the empty bottle with me.
Good luck!
Oh...PS... It takes me all of about 5 minutes to apply all of my makeup. :)

I have used mineral powder for over a year and am very pleased with it. My skin has actually improved since starting it. Though I am 20 yrs older than you, I still have a breakout or 2 during my cycle. I found that the mineral powder covered well enough even during that time. I have used several brands. The one I am most happy with is pur minerals because it is in a cake. The others I tried are loose and though they give a nice result, I don't like the flying powder getting on my clothes. HTH

I use and am a independent consultant of Arbonne products. They are awesome! They are safe, pure and beneficial. There is a 45 day return policy if you are not completely satisfied, but I doubt that you will need to return anything, they are great. I switched over to the shampoo, lotion, makeup and the baby care line. I ran my hand over my son's leg and it feels like silk. I ran out of my lotion, so I grabbed some of my old lotion and it was NOT the same as Arbonne, it felt sticky and icky!! I love these products. You can check out my website and you can contact me if you need any more information.
I knkow where you are coming from. I went through that too. I did put the makeup on for a few weeks, but it's just not me. What I did was go to the makeup counters and told them what I wanted. I got a little make over and they suggested the product for me. There are so many different kinds and types. For example, I enjoyed the MAC products, but my sister-in-law totally broke out with it. So, it will be up to you to play with the different brands and all. It can get pricey, so know what look you want and don't let them talk you into buying stuff you will not need.

I also have very sensitive skin along with my grandmother. We both use clinique make up. Its a little pricy compaired to drugstore make up. But I rarely use makeup. They have a kind that is made for acne prone skin. It kind of drys on your face quickly so you have to go fast. I would also suggest that you use a little mascara too to help bring out your eyes. Usually base will completly give you a washed out look. You can also try bare mineral make ups I think they are suppose to be easy on the skin. I have never tryed them. It usually takes me about 10 min to put on base, blush, powder, eye liner, mascara, shadow, and lip stick. Good luck with glaming it up!

I would highly recommend Mary Kay's Mineral Powder Foundation. It doesn't take as many steps to apply as Bare Minerals does and it is a lot cheaper. The foundation itself retails for $18, and the brush used to apply it is $10, but you only buy the brush once. I only apply make-up 2 to 3 times a week and it takes me about 3 months to go through one of the Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundations. I see that one of the other mothers offered you a discount on it. That's great. Definitely take her up on this. If she is not near you, go to www.marykay.com and you can look up a consultant that is located close to you. Mary Kay also has great lip gloss and a complete line of skin care and make-up.

I have found a really nice source of update on almost anything and it is HSN, Home Shopping Network. It comes on TV and gives a display, explanation and information on just about anything they are selling; however about make-up the most famous artist and brands are talked about with the explanation and demonstration. I have DirectTV, so for me it is channel 240; mostly any cable network has it as well as QVC. It is convenient because it comes/delivers in the mail and it has a 30 day trial and you can return it if you do not like it. I usually wait for the really good bargains. You can review the ratings on the web,to see how others like it. www.hsn.com Good Luck!

I can't belive no one has mentioned Avon. All of their makeup is dermatologist tested, so it won't clog your pores and it's hypoallergenic. Just remember to wash your face! :) What's nice is there are 11 shades from which to choose, to more closely match your skin tone. I don't know how much the other brands' mineral makeup is, but the full price for Avon's mineral make up is $10, but you can always find it on sale (usually anywhere from $6-8). You can send me a message if you want to know more.
My skin is a lot like yours, I'm 31, fair skin and lots of freckles. I like my freckles to show through because they're mine but the makeup takes away what unevenness I do have. :) If you'd rather not buy anything from a direct selling company like Avon or MK, I would stick with Almay because their products are hypoallergenic and readily available for not much out of pocket. Good luck!

It IS expensive; however, the kit lasts you for a few months (or even longer depending on how often you use it) and helps you look naturally beautiful.

Hi H.
I know this is about makeup, but I am allergic to just about everything. I like minerals that you brush on and I seem to be able to tolerate those. But as I’ve aged the skin imperfections became more than even makeup could handle so I tried laser treatments. The laser is not just for hair removal. I have gotten amazing results with these treatments for skin tone. The treatments got rid of a stain that ran down my jawbone. The treatments also got rid of red blotches and freckles. I have an even look now no more dark spots or blotches. IT was worth every cent I spent. Just think how much the creams and the makeup cost over the years. I was told that if I had started the treatments earlier (in my 30’s and 40’s) the results would have been even more spectacular because as we age we make less collegian. So I took my daughters to CADIZ in Round Rock for their first treatments. The laser can take years of damage off your skin and give you a very fresh face look. I wear only sunscreen and some minerals for special occasions.

And you can have as much or as little coverage as you want, and even if it wears off a little during the day (which mine only does where I hold my phone!), you can lightly dust again without that cakey look! I don't even have to do touch ups during the day like I used to with liquid foundation.

Hi H.,
You need to try Clinique products. They offer several different types of foundation / powder. Their products are great for sensitive skin as well. I wear it, and have recently started buying it for my oldest daughter who had slight skin issues, but now with Clinique she no longer has that problem. I recommend the cleansing products and powder/ and or foundation, depending on your preference. I am just a customer and not a salesperson - merely happy with a great product! I will say that you will spend a little more than what you would at the drugstore / Walmart for it,( I just spent $40 for foundation and powder) BUT it seems to last longer and also the benefits out-weigh the cost if you have sensitive skin. Good luck!!

Mary Kay has a mineral foundation that is a powder. Brush it on and you are done! For touch-ups during the day (which I don't use personally), they also have a compressed version. The loose powder is around $28 ... I find Mary Kay to be expensive, but this powder really lasts! I started using it around Christmas (got it as a gift) and I'm only on my 2nd container.
With regard to the sensitive skin ... I don't know if the mineral foundation will work with that. Just don't know enough, as my skin isn't that sensitive (oily, yes!). The advice I was given was to be sure you moisturize before putting on the powder, but that's good basic advice anyway. The other foundation I used before the mineral powder was Mary Kay's "cream-to-powder" foundation ... goes on as a cream but dries as a powder. Also very light. If I remember right, that was about $18, and it lasts a while too.
I have two kids (3 and 1) so I know all about a fast makeup routine. Mine is about 5 minutes tops, including chasing down the various pieces (mascara, eyeliner) that the kids grab & run away with! Hope this helps!

GOOD MORNING MOMS!!!! There have been many suggestions for using Bare Minerals. I agree that this is some great makeup! I just can't afford the stuff! Here's an alternative that's just as high quality that won't strangle your wallet... Everyday Minerals.
Before you get into ordering, I suggest you read the About page. This company is located in Austin, Tx. So your items get to you quick. They even give you a free sample pack to try their colors! If you only get the samples, they'll charge you for shipping. But hey, I don't want to spend a bunch of money on makeup and not like what I get.
I've bought a set of good brushes from Target and love what I've gotten! The samples have a lot in them too. I've been using mine for 2 weeks and still have a lot. Next week, I'm going to order some different colors. :D
I hope this helps!

I suggest a tinted moisturizer. I think I am using Cover Girl brand right now, but I have used others. I put on tinted moisturizer (there are several different affordable ones at a local drugstore) and mascara (my eyelashes are blond and practically not there) and a little lipstick some days. Some days when I need concealer under my eyes or on a blemish, that would go on first, before the tinted moisturizer.

Hey H.! I have sensitive skin as well...fair complected with frekles too! (also known as "Angel Kisses")
I use Maybelene True Blend foundation and powder. I like it because it is rather in-expensive and works well with my skin. I have my make-up routine down to about 4-7 minutes...
When I feel like "splurging" I love the foundation made by Origins (found at the Ulta store). It is by far the best make-up I have ever put on my face. It is soooo light and feels very smoothe whith GREAT coverage...It is about $30 a bottle, and the powder is about $25. They do last forever though. I have 2 children, 3yo boy and almost 2yo girl...I would rather spend my $$$ on them than on myslef, this is how I found True Blend!!!
I have tried the Bare Minerals and I really did not care for it...I do not have "large pores" but when I put that on my face, I could see EVERY pore I had...and after about 2 minutes of it being on my face, i broke out in hives...I tried it again the next day to see if I was just having an off day~NOPE! I took it back to Sephora and got my money back.
I hope this helps!!! Happy Friday Eve!!

I'm like you - don't wear much makeup, just need to even out the tone some. I use mineral makeup - Bare Natural by Loreal (I think). It's light, easy, and very natural looking. It takes me about 1 minute to put on! I've tried other mineral makeups but the Bare Natural (I get it at WalMart) is the easiest to use. Good luck!

Hi H.! I see you've gotten quite a few responses, but I have a couple of things to add. I have similar skin to yours - sensitive, breakout-prone, some freckles, & mine is very light. I sometimes have trouble finding concealers/powders/foundations that are light enough. I've usually been one to buy makeup at Walmart or Ulta instead of the pricier stuff at dept. stores. I too made the switch to mineral makeup about a year ago, and I love the lightness & the fact that it doesn't irritate my skin or cause breakouts. I use an SPF moisturizer, concealer where needed & a mineral powder foundation. I tried Bare Minerals too (it seems to have lots of fans from your responses!). I bought mine at Ulta & I like it okay but in my opinion if you apply the slightest bit too much (easy to do if you're in a hurry) you get a shiny/waxy look that I'm not crazy about. So, I've also tried a couple of other brands. I'm not crazy about any of the mineral brands you can get at Walmart (I haven't tried the new Physician's Formula one yet), but I found one I LOVE that someone recommended on another message board about mineral makeup. It's online at www.aromaleigh.com and I absolutely love it. No shiny finish like the Bare Minerals, plus it's way cheaper. The best part is that if you aren't sure which color to order, you can order little sample baggies of all of their products before you buy a full-size one. Hope this helps!!!

I know the price will be shocking but the best make up for you is bare minerals. you can actually sleep in the stff...it is so good for your skin. it does cover sundamage , it does feel smooth and it does look natural. plus it feels wonderful to put on. Ulta is your best bet for a beginner package ( an employee there will even give you a free lesson right then and there.)
so you can leave with the make up on for a day and see if you like it before buying it. calling to set up the make up consultation might be a good idea since you may be on a tight schedule with kids.
Anyway. I have fair skin and freckles and get compliments on mjy skin everyday I wqear bare minerals.. plus it lastsa ll day even after sweating.
My fave part of the beginner package is the "Glow" it looks like orange blush but you dust in parts the sun hits..forehead, cheeks , nose chin and it really looks natural and sunkissed.
Anyway it is all about $60 and will last you like 2 years .
good luck!

Try Bare Minerals mineral makeup. I don't like to wear makeup either, but this stuff is so easy to apply and it is powder, so it feels really light. Also, it's great for your skin, so you shouldn't have any reactions to it. I am also in my early 30's and this was just enough for me to help even out my skin tone. They sell it at Ulta. I really like it!

I also have very light skin, and mine comes with blemishes and blotchiness. The Bare Minerals not only covers it all but it feels light and natural and it is a natural sunscreen to. (and because it's all natural it's good for your skin!) I have had less breakouts using it! I also have super sensitive skin!!
I know you can purchase it at the Ulta Cosmetics store, and I'm sure you can get it online (but shipping prices are crazy!) I'm sure there is a store near you, you can check here:
I have also found that it lasts quite a while too, it's pretty quick and easy to use!

Hi H.,
I was always the same until after my 3rd child I got a lot of dark spots on my face and was getting acne also. I started using bare essentials about a year ago and love it, its helped even out my skin and my acne went away. It does seem expensive at first but it can last a long time so the price for me ended up being cheaper than the usual store stuff.
She talks about the truth on products that supposedly don't cause acne. Paula is an expert on what really works. She's done loads of research and has tons of references to back her up. I think you'll learn there's no such thing as a makeup that won't make people break out. What makes one person break out won't do that to another. Also, bare minerals are just talc powder, which is a "natural mineral." There's nothing particularly special about them, except they are lighter than liquid foundations. Worth a try, though, if that's the kind of foundation you prefer.
You could probably just use a tinted moisturizer that contains a reliable sunscreen (one that contains avobenzone, titanium dioxide, or zinc oxide), to help prevent further sun damage. I highly recommend Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glowsheers, SPF 30. It evens out my skintone and provides excellent sun protection without being heavy. I also recommend Neutrogena sheer tinted moisturizer, SPF 20 (can't remember exact name; do know if comes with a pump at the top).
You should really subscribe to Paual's Beauty Bulletin, if you're as obsessed about knowing the truth about cosmetics and hair and skin care as I am: www.cosmeticscop.com. :-)
And I totally know the "no time" factor, even with just one child. Hope this helps! God bless!

If you don't have a lot of lines in the eye area...the best thing to use is that mineral powder foundation. Goes on w/ a brush. Stay away from your eyes if you are worried about the lines thing! I use a big brush for all over (comes w/ the foundation)...then a tiny pointed brush for spots if needed. It's a super fast way to get a flawless look fast. And, it's not bad for your skin & won't feel like you're wearing anything at all. Good luck! You might want to try a make-up counter or try a friend's first...that way you won't spend the $12-15 dollars on the drugstore brands like Revlon..and it be too light or too dark.

Mineral make-up! You will love it and probably find yourself wearing it everyday! It goes on in seconds, sits on top of your skin so it doesn't clog pores or get into lines and wrinkles, and looks natural. I am almost 49 and good skin is important to me, I have been using minerals for a couple of years now,and it actually improves your skin! It's good for your skin! The one that I have found that I really like and is not expensive is "Ulta Brand" it is sold at Ulta stores, but if you don't have one near you, Bare minerals is good, but cost more and beyond that I would try maybe one of the brands at walmart or walgreens. It goes on in no time, is flawless, and mistake proof. I would suggest that you buy the brushs for it as well, as they have a lot to do with how it goes on, they don't travel well (get messy in jar) but you won't need touch ups anyway! I recommend using a moisturizer under, and let it sit on your skin a couple of minutes before applying the make up. I use the foundation, and the blush as well as their eye shadows (when I wear shadow) and the shadows last forever. A trick I do is to apply a little blush to my whole eye lid just to give it some glow of color. When picking out your shade go more by the name of the shade than by the color in the jar, they tend to look a lot darker than they apply. Ulta often has a 2 for one deal, watch for the sale! and you can mix and match, buy one get any other free! Once you see how easy and fast your skin can look so much healthier and perfected, you will want to wear it everyday! I wear Found., blush, mineral veil, brow pencil, eye liner, mascara, and lipstick/gloss, and I can do my whole face in about 5 minutes! Why look oK, when you can look great! Best of luck to you, blessings, S.

Check out this website http://denisewilliams1.youngevityonline.com/ Click on "checkout all of our Products" Then on the left hand side click on "Youngevity Mineral Make up Collection."
Mary Kay all the way! I love the TimeWise line to fight aging and the tinted moisturizer is great...spf 15 and smoothes on in seconds. Add a little mascara and lip gloss and you're out the door. Add an eye liner and a little blush and you're ready for a night out with your husband. I would love to send you some free samples if you are interested.

You should try the mineral makeup. Not the ones sold in stores but research on line the different mineral makeup you need to find one without any talc in it. I use one but my sister used to sell it (doesnt anymore) It is the best for your skin and very easy to apply. Sometimes can be messy if you are not careful. Try raw minerals Dont go with sheer cover that one is the worst.

I would try one of the mineral make-up's, there is line called ELF(on-line), which is less expensive than most of the others. My 18 yo daughter really liked it, she had tried liquid foundation in the past and did not like it, she likes how you just blend it in w/a brush and you can't feel that you have anything on. She did not like the mineral eyeshadows thought they were too messy. So she is sticking with the make up and lip gloss. I tried the RAW minerals they were great, but too expensive. I am currently using the Serious Skin Care Line (summer kit)from HSN(Jennifer Flavin-Stallone's line) I really like it, I am done in 10 min. It also looks like it helps my skin. Hope this helps.

Most makeup brands now have mineral powder foundation that works great. Avon also has some I think, and it is reasonably priced. I use Maybelline and have had no problems with acne. If none of these work for you, try Mary Kay. You probably know someone who sells it, or your friends probably do if you don't. Think about using a little eyeliner and mascara along with the lipstick. It only takes a minute to apply and really gives your eyes definition. Good Luck

Hi, H.!
I am a Mary Kay beauty consultant, so obviously I would suggest trying our skin care products as well as the creme-to-powder foundation (I LOVE it!). You can look online to find a consultant in your area, or you can order what you need from me and I could send it to you in the mail. I've been using Mary Kay for almost 20 years and it takes me about 5 minutes to get my makeup on (I have seven kids ages 14 to 2, so I don't have a lot of time either!). I, too, spend a lot of time in the sun (we're at the beach almost every week), and I use Mary Kay's tinted moisturizer and lip sunscreen. Mary Kay will keep you looking young, too. I'm almost 41 and people always think I'm still in my 20s!
Take care of yourself...enjoy your children...they grow up WAY too fast!

Coverage is important to me because I, too have freckles, and tend toward yellowish skin with lots of red blotches. I used to be a die-hard Lancome user. I tried Bare Minerals about 6 months ago, and find that the coverage is awesome, and light. It is applied entirely with brushes. It is also long lasting, and is easily touched up as needed. My suggestion though, is to go to Ulta for it. They sell the whole kit, and an associate will help with color selection. If you buy online, you are guessing at colors, and get enrolled in a repetitive shipping program. Addtionally, they charge more, and send you the smaller items. At Ulta, you get the larger ones, and assuming that you don't buy a ton of other stuff, get out of there much more cheaply!

Hi, H.! I hope I can help.
I've been using mostly mineral powders. It's light and good for your skin. I became a personal-use consultant with Mary Kay just to get all their mineral powder makeup at cost... it's great stuff! My skin is very sensitive, I couldn't wear much makeup before because it would break me out. Now I use JUST the mineral powder, one or two eyeshadows, mascara, and lip gloss. It's a polished and natural look.
And I have freckles, too! The mineral powder won't cover them completely, but I've found I don't want to cover them completely. With all the freckles on my arms, people would know it's makeup if I didn't have any on my face! :)
You can message me if you want more info, I can also send you some links on how to apply it correctly and the such... And if you ever feel led to do a makeover, I love playing in it, so I'll be happy to try out some stuff with you! What Not to Wear style, huh? :)

I used to be pretty active but recently only ordering for myself, friends and family. Their skin care line is really good too. They have an age fighting line that I also use and love. Bare Minerals is fabulous and fits the description you have given. My complexion is very light with freckles--my first bare minerals purchase was the starter kit ($60) with 2 shades of mineral powder base, mineral veil, a face color (I use for blush), and a set of nice brushes. After that I just bought refill mineral power in Fairly Light until I needed new brushes (then I bought another starter kit b/c it's cheaper than buying the brushes seperately). Ok, first you don't want to spend a lot since you only plan to wear it now and then. Make-up has a relatively short shelf life (if you keep it over the recommended time it will definitely contribute towards breaking out!) So I would suggest going as cheap as possible. I break out really easily and only wear make-up once a week (or less) so I really like covergirl clean products. It's oil free which most are not, and as long as I'm diligent about washing my face thoroughly afterwards (I swear by St. Ives medicated scrub) I am totally acne free. Remember that despite claims to the contrary, skin absorbs most things so no matter what you go with WASH before bed. Have fun playing with your new look!

for years and was one of the best products she recommended.I noticed that my skin actually got tighter, and w/tighter skin means younger looking skin.Sooo if you want to keep having that young looking skin make it a must to try Anew.Im not advertising it at all i'm just very PLEASED in what it has done for my face.My moms e-mail is {____@____.com}if you don't have a Avon rep.I'm sure she'll be happy to deliver to you or mail it to you as she does to many of her clients.I cant stress enough how this ANEW works wonders.I hope to hear you get good results if you decide to take my word for it.Have a Blessed evening.

Hi H.!
I have the same type of skin, lots of freckles and unevenness.
I always wear a little makeup because I feel more polished and put together.
I highly recommend mineral makeup. I actually use one from Avon which is a little more economical than bare minerals. the coverage is great and light and you don't even feel it.
I like cream blush because I have very dry skin. I especially like MAC cream blush. I use MAC shadows.I think it is the best makeup on the planet.Their employees really know and love makeup and have never failed to help me find the most flattering colors for me. Since you don't use makeup very often, I would definitely recommend MAC as you won't need to spend a lot of money to look great.
I think the key top looking great is mascara, blush and a great gloss.

I highly recommend Bare Minerals. It is awesome! It's a flawless finish. You just have to learn a quick technique with the brush. It's a circle technique. They have kits that you can buy to get started. The kits are around 65.00. The price might have come down by now. It's definitely worth it. It's foundation, but it's a powder. It's great for "the natural look".
Also there is a foundation stick that is great. The brand is Benefit (you get it at Macy's or Sephora). I've been wearing that for years. I go between the two foundations. The stick is great. It's super quick. It's even faster than the Bare Minerals. It sells for about $35.00. I buy other make-up that is inexpensive, but the foundations, I find that I can't mess around with. I stick with what works. I also have sensitive skin.

I swear by Bare Minerals. The kit is approximately 70 bucks, but actually lasts a long time, so its a good investment. I have introduced it to many of my friends and we all swear by it. I also suggest the kits rather than just purchasing the lipsticks or eyeshadows individually...you get a better value with extras like brushes.
you can go to sephora, bare escentuals at La Cantera, purchase through QVC and I was also told you can start purchasing the kits at Target.
The kit comes with 2 foundations, a warmth bronzer, and a mineral veil. In addition at least two brushes and the newer kits have a lotion included.
This make up lasts a long time, is easy to use...I put mine on including eyeshadow and lipstick in less than 10 minutes. It lasts so long because you only lightly place the brush into the foundation, swirl it into the lid, and tap excess off, then apply. It evens out any blemishes and freckles and gives your skin a nice glow. It is also harmless and good for senstitive skin, and you can even keep it on overnight unlike other makeups.
hope this helps.

I have searched for soooo many years for a good powder makeup and found BareEscentuals mineral makeup. I have bad roscea and sensitive skin and oh my gosh this powder foundation covered my flaws while making my skin look natural. Go to BareEscentuals.com and find a store near you or order online. I went to their store in the Deerbrook mall to try it and fell in love with it. This is mineral makeup so its good for you. Hopefully you'll feel the same way about their makeup and stop looking. Good Luck!!

I highly recommend Avon. If you don't like it or it is not working for you, you can return or exchange it. That is nice if you are not sure what you want or need. Just go online and you can find a representive in your area. The representive can help you with choices for your skin. You can even purchase online and have it sent to your home.

Hi H.,
I just recently started wearing Bare Minerals. It takes me less than five minutes to put on in the morning and lasts all day. The best part is it doesn't feel like your wearing anything. Plus I have VERY sensitive skin and this does not break me out at all... Just a suggestion.

Bare Minerals is awesome! Be sure you spend the extra to get the real stuff - I've tried the cheaper Maybelline version & Isabella version & they just are not the same. ;>

Hi H.! I too am fair and freckly! I've just recently started using Clinique's Almost Powder Foundation and I LOVE it! It is easy to use... just like a powder, isn't too heavy and has sunscreen. My skin has never looked this good. I purchased it at Dillards in the Galleria from Nissa. She is the "counter educator" and was SOOO helpful at finding products that were right for my skin without being pushy.
Hope this is helpful!

I use MAC makeup. The powder/foundation I use is called Studio Fix...it's FANTASTIC and lasts all day. It is light and you can't feel it. It's not "cakey." I absolutely LOVE it. There's a MAC store in the Domain, but you can also go to Nordstrom's or Macy's.

I feel the same way you do about make up! I don't have time to put any on and it's hard to find make up that doesn't cause you to break out. Check out Arbonne International and all that they have to offer on make up. I use their make up and love because it's fast to put on and I never break out! If you have any questions on how to look into this company send me a message and I'll help you out.

I know this is a little late but I hope it still helps. I have always had trouble with breakouts and make-up. I have found that Clinque is the best and doesn't cause me to breakout. I don't use liquid make-up though it can clog the pores. I also started using a new line of skin care (cleanser, toner, repair product, moisterizer) called Mineral Genesis. It is amazing! It has been helping my skin clear up and my tone and texture has been improving dramatically. It is also removing a lot of my lines. If you would be interested in learning more about it please contact me at ###-###-#### or ____@____.com free to take a look at my website www.mysensaria.com/beckysspa. I hope this helps.

you know the best way that a woman can be ok w/ her looks its trough the eyes when you have time sat down alone and look at your eyes ...are they green ? blue? caramel? try to use a liner to enhance them that way you will always look gorgeous i think that your freckles are the center of your face so.. don't cover them up ; just try to get the attention on another part of your face ... your eyes hope this is good for you.

Sounds very familiar. I am 33, have two boys, 3 and 5. I recently started my own business which required me to have a more polished image. I met a wonderful Mary Kay lady who has coached me through the make-up delima. They have a mineral powder foundation that is great, not heavy like the creams. It takes me less than 5 minutes start to finish to wash my face and do my makeup. Her name is Debbie Yost, ###-###-####. She is in North Austin, but knows representatives everywhere. Not pushy and very helpful with teaching.
Good luck.

I am so sorry for responding so late. I was exactly like you when I had my children and rarely ever wore makeup. I still to this day don't wear very much but I use skin care products to help keep my skin looking young. I started using Mary Kay products because it was the only thing that worked for me without breaking out. After a few years of being a single mother of 4 I needed extra money so I signed up to sell the products, one because I could save myself some money on the products for myself and second I could easily make extra cash when I needed it. There are several products for your skin, like the lightweight mineral powder foundation and they also have something for your uneven skin tone. Please feel free to take a look @ my ____@____.com/tgperez and if you need ny advice please feel free to contact me anytime via email: ____@____.com or phone: ###-###-####, I would love to show you some of the products. I hope I have helped you. T. G.
