Look for a bare-minerals store near you and go get a free make over. Try it out. I don't know where one is in Schertz but if you are willing to drive a bit there is one located at The Shops at La Cantera 1604 and I-10 area.
I have been interested in finding a good makeup that doesnt look like Ive got it caked on. I have semi- sensitive skin, especially around my eyes. I think I have okay skin so I dont think I need a whole lot, but I do have freckles and fair skin. I also have dark circles under my eyes ( thank you parenthood :)). I am wondering if the Bare Minerals is any good, or as good as it says it is. I have watched the info commercial a lot and am amazed but dont want to fall for some stupid scam! If you could give me your insight that would be great! Thank you!

my mom swears by it. she introduced it to a friend of mine that had some problems with acne. my friend hasn't used anything since and her skin has cleared up since using it.
i don't personally use it though.
i forgot to mention that Ulta carries it if you have one near you. www.ulta.com
I wear a mineral makeup and LOVE it! It soaks up all the excess oil on my face and it is nice and light. I also have fairly sensitive skin and it does not bother it. In fact, my complexion clears up after using it repeatedly for 3-5 days (I don't wear makeup every day).
I recommend it!
I use it and wouldn't use anything else! I love it and it smoothes my complexion. I break out at times and it hides it nicely without looking like I'm trying to hide it. I would buy it where you can match the color to your skin....like at Sephora or Ulta....you need to make sure you are choosing the right color for your skin tone. Have fun!
I have not found any Bare Minerals makeup that I have liked. It makes me look glittery and glowy - not in a good way. It also was caked on everything my face touched from phones, to clothes and coats, and my husbands clothes. I believe it even made me break out. I recommend Origins products. They look natural and don't cause breakouts.
Most every makeup line now has a 'mineral' makeup now, so recommendations from people who have tried the different lines is helpful. I've liked E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) mineral line a lot, and it's relatively inexpensive. I've also used both Maybelline's and Revlon's mineral lines, and both of them are pretty good, and have the benefit of being available everywhere for a pretty good price. I personally have to wear a liquid to powder concealer under mine (I have severe rosacea) but you would never be able to tell because the mineral powder softens everything.
If you use a brand that comes with a small brush, make sure you get a larger kabuki brush (it's more densely packed) and use some container to spread the powder out a bit. I use the top of an old loose powder container. I just find that the sifters in most mineral makeups aren't big enough to get the brush filled like I like it. Experiment and see what suits you best! Good luck!
I have seen it applied to a friend and, in my opinion, looks very caked on. I would recommend you check out Sei Bella's products. Non-toxic, high quality ingredients so they are safe for even the most sensitive of skins.
Hi -I'm an Esthetician and Makeup Artist. I've had quite a few clients use BM and love them. I use MAC makeup on all of my clients. I really like the different options they offer for all skin types. I love love love the "quick response eye cream", it's great to put on under my makeup after those long nights with my baby. It has caffiene in it, and helps wake up the skin! I would suggest using a makeup primer and then applying sheer coverage foundation. It won't be cakey at all and with the primer it should last all day.
I would suggest that no matter what you choose, you try it out first before buying it! You can get a better feeling of the texture, tones, and weight of product on your skin.
I love Bare Minerals! It looks very natural and looks great even at the end of the day. Like they say on the commercial, my skin actually feels better too now. I too have fair skin, freckles and dark circles around my eyes! :)
I've been thinking about it too - glad you asked the question. I didn't realize there was a store at La Cantera. Did you know that HEB carries it too? It can be found in the locked glass shelves along w/the perfumes. I saw it at the 3009 store in Schertz.
I used to use Bare Minerals but have since switched to Mary Kay MIneral Foundation. I love it because its buildable so I can have light application days and heavier application days. Let me know and I can send you a sample of the mineral foundation or you can visit www.marykay.com/R..shivok. Good Luck!
I use it in conjunction with tinted moisturizer and have for a few years. Love that you can get varying levels of coverage with it depending on what you need. Under my eyes which are older and more wrinkle-y (ugh) I use a tinted moisturizer but I use the Bare Minerals everywhere else. My only complaint is that it is a powder and makes a big mess on my counter, etc. Recently at Ulta one of the salespeople introduced my daughter to a similar product-also minerals-but it is in a compact form. She loves it even more than the Bare Minerals and I'm thinking I might switch over to it just for convenience. I think it is Pur but I'm not 100% sure.
I started with one of their kits that included two shades of foundation, their finishing powder, bronzer and brushes. Never use the bronzer-I'm pretty fair so it just doesn't work on me. I do use the two different shades depending on whether I have a tan or not-summer or winter-and sometimes I blend them to get the right shade. Even without using the bronzer I think the kit is a good starter deal, although I noticed they have changed their brushes and the old selection of brushes was better. It doesn't include a cover-up brush now and I really use mine.
I also have two daughters , 15 and 13, that use it (or did!) with great results.
Good luck!
I've recently started using LA minerals...I love it way more than Bare Minerals and it is about half the price. I found Bare Minerals left my skin shiny and glittery it didn't look natural to me. If you go to the LA minerals website you can order samples for $2. each and then if you buy 5 samples you get 5 free. This way you can try it out and see if you like it.
I'm allergic to it but my daughter uses Sei Bella's version of it and loves it!!
I use the E.L.F minerals line and have been very pleased with the coverage, as well as the natural look and feel. I order it from their website and it is very inexpensive. I was able to buy several colors and find the one that suited me best because of hte low price. It is around $5. They frequently have 1/2 off sales. Their kabuki brush is also $5. I recommend viewing the process for the Bare Minerals makeup line and even getting a makeover at Ulta. Then buy the equivalent products from E.L.F. You make out like a bandit.
I tried the Bare Minerals because I am allergic to most foundation make-up products. The color was good but it didn't really "cover" enough, and it also did not last through the entire work day no matter what I tried with it (moisturizer underneath, powder on top, or just it alone). I have had better luck with what they call "tinted moisturizer" products, specifically the Olay touch of foundation and the Mary Kay products.
My mom uses and likes it but she likes more coverage. I tried it and hated it because I felt it had a powdery cake-like look. I use a tinted moisturizer by Aveda and absolutely love it! I like a very light coverage though. If I do get a blemish, I have a cover up stick that I use.
Check out Everyday minerals. They are more reasonably priced and offer a great free sample kit. They also have different kinds of foundation like flat matte or semi matte or shiny finish. Great product with great costumer service. Started using mineral make up a few years back and never looked back. It not only looks good, it feels great!

I swear by it. If you go to qvc.com you can likely get a starter kit at a good price. it is all I wear and I get compliments all the time... only thing is if you do try it make sure you watch the video and apply it like they show you.... its light weight and I have not had a pimple or any break outs in 8 years! I also have sensitive skin and its perfect for me! Feel free to message me if you want to know more!
I used Bare Minerals for a long time and loved it but found that after time it was very drying to my skin. This is because Bare Minerals has lots of talc, which is used as a "filler" so to speak. I have since been using both Glo-Minerals and Jane Iredale and like them both. They are more expensive but higher quality. I have some friends who use MicaBella and one of them is a dermatologist. They love it too. I think there are lots of good mineral make-ups out there and they all do provide good coverage but just make sure that you find one with low talc content.
Bare Minerals is the only thing I wear. You won't know till you try it, but the great thing is if you try it and don't like it they give you your money back. So get it online or at Ulta and they will give you your money back if you don't like it. So nothing to lose. I hope it helps! I love it!
I absolutely love it! I have fair skin too that is also sensitive ... I use the makeup with a concealer brush around the circles and then apply the makeup with the brush as the infomercial shows. I bought mine from Sephora, not online because I wasn't sure what color to get. The people are the store will work with you and try the colors until you get the right one. Good luck!
I love it. I've had it for about 7yrs, works for me and I have sensitive skin and adult/pg. acne... AVON sells something similar too.
I use it, and love it. I'm with you though... It sounded interesting, but I wasn't willing to buy any until 2 stores/kiosks opened nearby me, so I could "makeover" and see how it looked and felt. Many Nordstroms, and several other big stores have BareM in their makeup dept. If there's a real life location nearby you, I'd suggest heading over.
To know... foundation wise there are 2 steps. The powder foundation, and the (can't remember the name) finishing powder. What they call the "airbrushing" step. If you look at the ingredients it's just cornstarch and pigment. So you can save $20 by buying cornstarch and blending it with the foundation podwer in a seperate little jar.
I use it and love it. Before I bought the kit I went to Ulta and they had someone put it on me so I coud try it out for a day before buying. If you have an Ulta near by you may look into that. They also sell the kits there at the store.
I use liquid mineral foundation from Jane Iredal. I find it better than Bare Minerals which sits on top of my skin and looks really cakey. Jane Iredal has great eyeliners, lipgloss/lipsticks/ pressed powder etc. I really love the line. It's pricey, though. If you have large pores( I do) or wrinkles Bare Minerals will accentuate those things. Also, use a foundation primer before using any of the mineral foundations. It looks smoother.
I never had luck with bare minerals. (the foundation powder seemed to look caked on my skin and show more fine lines) I do love the origins products.
I liked the coverage but if you have fine lines, it will accentuate them. The powder settles in the creases. Plus I looked tired by the end of the day b/c of the dry/dull finish. My cream under eye concealer lasts much longer and my fine lines don't show.
I use it and love it. The powder foundation is amazing. And it is expensive, but it lasts. I bought some about 4-5 months ago and it's still half full (and I wear make-up every day). I got it on drugstore.com and have been very happy.
Find a sephora store and go in and try it. I love it. It covers well, but it is more natural, it will not cover all your freckles, I suppose it could but it takes a bit of work. It is perfect for my oily skin and has actually helped clear it up.
Plus the right tools are everything. I can not use their burshes as they are animal hair. I have to have synthetic brushes. I use severl brushes to do my face. Stiffer brushes for areas I need more coverage a large softer brush to blend, and small brushes to cover imperfections like acne.
I used to work at Ulta as an Assistant Store Manager. The product is not a scam...they will do free demos on customers. Go in and try it out to see if you like the product.
I know women who just love the bare minerals line of makeup. But I think it is kind of pricey. I have some skin issues (including sensitive skin, rosacea redness, and pigment discoloration), I have used Lancome for years, but recently discovered a much cheaper option which is a bare minerals type line of makeup by LOREAL. I buy the makeup at Walgreen's stores when it is buy 1 get 1 free, or 50% off. You apply the brush on type coverup/foundation and then blush or bronzer powders just like the bare minerals makeup. Since I have uneven skin tones, I am very pleased with the even tone coverage I get. I even purchased a eye cream base to even out my lids and undereye circles. Great buy for much less than I was paying for Lancome in high priced department stores!
I use ( and LOVE) L'oreal Bare Naturale Mineral line. I too have dark circles under my eyes and the best coverage I have ever found is the concealer from that line which they call "correction" and also has a spf of 25. I don't know how it compares price range wise, and I don't use a ton of make up, but for me the cost is not that bad especially since I bought mine this past January and I haven't had to replace it yet. I think I have bought a second of the correction powder, but part of that was wanting one for my purse in case I needed to make a touch up. Lots of luck! The correction powder also covers red spots too!
I have used it for a while now and love it! However, not all my friends like it like I do. Sephora and Ulta carry it as well as some other make-up stores. There are also a lot of other mineral products on the market now. I would go there and try the different products and see what you like. Don't order off the TV - you don't know if it will suit your skin or not til you try it.
It is very good. Unfortunately, it is expensive. It gives great coverage and does not look fake. It does run a little dark, so when in doubt, go lighter.
I Have freckles and dark circles as well ( im with ya on parenthood ) and I tried the bare minerals makeup and let me tell you, if it sounds or looks to good to be true it usually is! I was very disappointed, it didn't do what they said it did. I use cover girl color stay concealer under my eyes and almay true match foundation. Its light and airy and works for me!
I LOVE IT! I'm 41. My sister introduced me to it about 4-5 years ago. (Otherwise I would have never really considered it.) No more caked on liquid concealer look. My make up (and hers) looks very natural. It is pricey I suppose, but I find the stuff lasts me a long time.
Just go to a BM or Sephora and try it on. Don't let them talk you into a ton of products. I just use 3 things: foundation, bronze and blush and I'm done. Keep it simple.
There are other Mineral make ups out there too. You have a lot of options, but I like BM because it's a simple system and the color match to my skin is pretty right on.
I've been using Bare Minerals for a few years and I love it. I have super sensitive skin and it doesn't bother my skin at all. For me it covers really well (especially dark circles). I would highly recommend getting the starter kit, you can find it at Sephora. I also have had issues with acne, and acne scars and the Bare Minerals covers all those imperfections. The key is that you have to use the Mineral Veil in addition to the Bare Mineral foundation, it sort of sets the foundation and gives you an air brushed look. For me it lasts all day. ONce time I went to a cook out in July and it was hot and humid and my make up lasted all day in the heat!
Of course there are tons of other mineral makeup now, so if Bare Minerals doesn't work for you there are others you can try. My sister is allergic to one of the natural minerals in Bare Minerals but she can use other mineral makeup.
Good luck, hope you find make up that works for you!
I love Bare Minerals!!! As mentioned below Ulta will do a free demo for you on your face, then you can decide if you like it or not. I once bought the wrong shade in makeup from Ulta & they didn't exchange it or give me my money back so make sure its your correct color if you decide to purchase from there.
Because Bare Minerals are expensive I am searching for a product that is similar but w/o the price tag. Thanks ladies that have responded regarding the other makeups out there that work the same.
