I saw this one facebook today and just had to share!

A man came home from work and found his 3 children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn around garden, The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and no sign of the dog, walking in the door, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, the throw rug was against one wall, In the front room the TV was on loudly with the cartoon channel, the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls. As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel.

She looked up at him, smiled and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?'

She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world do I do all day?...

''Yes," was his incredulous reply..

She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'

Lol, this is so great! So, does this describe your house?

Oh yeah, my daughter decided to "re-arrange" (AKA putting everything in the middle of the floor) her playroom last night. I have been sick the past couple days, but even then the house has been relatively clean. I just wasn't feeling up to putting everything back. My husband didn't bother. Soooo today I'm feeling worse so that mess is just going to sit there. Screw it.

Holy heck what was described is only half of what my husband would find. I dont think he knows the mere amount of things I do all day. Though by the sound of it, he feels I have a pretty cushy job. I REALLY hate the phrase "wish I COULD STAY home and do nothing all day but play on the computer and with the kids" yeeeah buddy, I dont think so. He watched the 3 kids for me once this week when i took the dog for a walk and fresh air. UMMM I was told he cant do 3 at a time. Only 2. That was only for 1 hour. EXACTLY he cant do it.

LOL! that's great! I am lucky enough to have a husband who knows how hard it is to be a stay at home parent. About a month ago I left him home alone with our baby (2mnths at the time) and toddler. I went shopping with a friend. I was gone for about 5 hours (I admit at the end of the trip I was wandering around the store delaying going home) When I came home I asked him if he would like to stay home and I could go back to work. He said, "Sure if you want our kids living in squalar! I don't know how you keep up with things all day."

I read this aloud to my SO. We both laughed. Thanks!

It's a little over-stated but paints close to a true picture.

Loved this

but I am biased. I am one of those people that LOVED staying at home and while my daughter drove M. crazy some days, we had fun non stop. It was easy as I only had one! I went back part time when she was 2 and full time at 3 when her dad and I split up and I'm jealous of SAHM's!!! I want that time with my daughter back so bad! Sure tis hard and you do a lot, and kids drive you crazy but its worth it! I worked in a daycare setting with her when she was 2...I loved it then too, but it stinks working and only getting 2 hours after school where she's tired and grumpy and forced to do tons in a short amt of time, then they drive you crazy but you don't get as many fun moments in between waking with them working and putting them to bed.

Made me laugh - I actually work from home. So that is often the state of my house! My daughter will clean up if I ask her (in fact she is starting to do it on her own a bit now) but some days she will take out every toy in the den and the house is a disaster.

We actually try to clean up a bit every evening at around 5:00 so it reasonably neat when Daddy get home. Some days when I have late meeting though... all I can say is watch out where you step!

This goes for the working moms too!! Change your title!! By the time my husband gets home one of a million things will be complete. He's used to it being dinner started. Sometimes he'll fuss if the floor isn't swept, but passive aggressively. He hasn't done it since I "accidently" spilled rice on the floor when he was huffing and puffing. :).

We both work long hours and it takes an army to run our house. Even then sometimes our days end up like the one above!

I read that before.
And yes, the Men/Husbands do not know, what the heck happens all day nor what the Wife does all day with the kids and the home. All they know is they come home from work, eat, sit on the couch and watch tv, and then they complain about the mess or the kids calling them and wondering why their Wife is SO busy and can't even sit down for 5 seconds before she has to do something else or a kid calls her for something. And then they wonder WHY... the SAHM needs a break or 'me' time.
They think- it is easy and SAHMs have it easy.
Meanwhile, all her money goes to getting things for the kids. Not on manicures for herself or going to a hair salon regularly etc.

Back to that story: I have done that too. Didn't bother picking up and cleaning the house before Husband came home. Just left it as is. And then he comes home and says the same amazing thing "What happened here today?" And I say- well, I didn't get the house all ready for YOU before you came home. This is how it is everyday when you are not home. But you don't know that because I usually get the house and kids all cleaned up before you get home. Today, I didn't.

I've done that.

It only worked for a few months.
(One day of it = only a few months of realizing what is WAS I did all day)

In my rather biased experience... if it gets to the point of actually needing to do that to get any respect for what one does... well... I should have filed for divorce back when. As I said, though :) I'm heavily biased. It's a $2500 dollar a month job for 40 hours of childcare in our area. "It" get respect when a stranger is doing it. The work is no different (just 16 hour days instead of 8 hour days) when mom or dad is the one doing it.

<grin> The ONLY people I've ever known to say being a SAHP is 'easy' are those who have never done it, or are still in the first few weeks/months of vacation mode, or don't start until the kids are in school 8 hours a day so you're only working a single shift as a SAHP instead of the double shift plus 7 day a week being on call all night long.

I do love this story... but it's also bittersweet. Because if it gets to that point? My heart breaks for the mom or dad who has been disrespected for so long that they're driven to it.

Yep, that's pretty much what my husband came home to one day last week when I had a terrible headache all day.
