L.L.
I have been introducing my 7 year old to my old favorite movies and we have both been loving it. The Goonies, Karate Kid, ET, The Neverending Story, and my very very favorite The Princess Bride.
I am needing some family rental movie recommendations so to be prepared for any rainy days ahead. No Disney/Pixar/Harry Potter movies please. Something that Dad and I might enjoy as well. Kids are 5.5 and 8.
Thanks everyone for your wonderful suggestions. I picked up The Love Bug and Sandlot. I'm actually looking forward to watching both of these movies.

these are just a few but we love them. my sons also loved the older musicals that were in black and white with gene kelly, fred astair, ginger rogers etc. oh and laurel and hardy good luck
How about Flubber, Back to the future, The Princess Bride, Hook, National Treasure, A Night at the Museum, Hotel for Dogs, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins, Labyrinth, Dr. Doolittle, Are we there yet, The Chronicles of Narnia. I hope you find some good ones!
What about some of the Classics? Wizard of Oz, ET, Goonies....
We really like Wallace and Gromit. The neverending story is good, too. I didn't care for the chipmunks movie, but maybe you will.
The Sand Lot is a very good movie! I only saw it recently, but really enjoyed it.
Dennis the Menace with Walter Matthau
The Long, Long Trailer with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz (it's older, but in color and very funny. They're on vacation too).
Mr. Mom with Michael Keaton and Terri Garr
Millions
The Little Princess (the newer version. It's beautifully filmed and even my son loves it).
The original Parent Trap is a Disney movie, but it's funny, even for adults.
I'm sure you'll get some great ideas.
Have fun!
My kids actually loved a lot of the older classics.
I love alvin and the chimpmunks I think its hillarious! (but for the record I love disney movies too, I had a full collection of them before even deciding to have kids)
Sand Lot is a big favorite with my 7 yo right now.
We like
The Game Plan
Tooth Fairy
Free Willy ~ the new one with Bindy Irwin.

We watched a lot of Veggie Tales when my kids were that age. My husband & I thought they were hilarious!
haha I was also thinking Sandlot, Little Rascals, My dog skip, Marley and Me, Pirates of the Caribean movies, Matlida, Uptown girls, Stewart little
Try looking at musicals - the sound of music, guys and dolls, etc. Have fun!
We LOVE LOVE LOVE Evan Almighty. My son is 4 and loves it, and I love it too!
Hotel for Dogs is also a nice, family movie.
