My first question is: does anyone know up to what age before an infant/baby can start sleeping in a bed and you can use a playard for them to sleep in up until then? The reason why I'm asking is: I want to get my Mom either a Playard (Ex. Graco pack n' play) or an Arms Reach Co-Sleeper for her to use when I go to visit her or when she babysits for my baby to sleep in until at least he/she can sleep in a bed, which I believe is around 1 1/2 to 2 years old depending on the child obviously. Best Changing Table Style? One with Rails or One on Top of a Dresser?

My husband and I are getting ready to purchase baby furniture for our first baby. I'm not sure what style of changing table is best/safest/most convenient. I'm leaning toward the kind that is "built" on top of a dresser where the baby gets strapped in on top of the foam changing pad, but I've also seen the tables where there are rails on all four sides with the shelves underneath. The dresser style one appeals to me because I envision being able to use the dresser without the changing table aspect in the future. I'm looking for that...
