Where to Buy Ballet Attire

I second the Walmart and Payless... Why spend a fortune on that stuff when they out grow it sooooo fast!!!!!!

My daughter was in dance for many years and we went to Degage Dancewear on 103rd and Metcalf (near Jose Peppers)--they have everything! And you can find 15% off coupons in local newspapers, magazines, and dance schools. Also, we could sometimes find leotards, tights and shoes at Once Upon A Time, the gently-used children's clothing stores. Ebay can be a good resource too if you know what brands/styles/sizes fit your daughter.

I'm with the majority below - start off buying the ballet shoes at Payless and the leotards at Target. Degage is great but make sure your daughter likes dancing - mine is in her 9th year so we buy all of her shoes/leotards/etc. at Degage in Independence or Expressions in Raytown.

Payless shoes carries all that at quite reasonable prices. Tap shoes as well.

You can try Payless or Walmart for the ballet shoes as well leotards. I know Target sells leotards not sure if they sell the ballet shoes or not. I have found several listings on Craigslist for both shoes and leotards.

I bought my 5 year old niece a very cute leotard for Christmas at Target. I am not sure about the shoes but I would't be surprised if they have those also.

I've seen lots of tap shoes at Children's Orchard, they also have new leotard's. Usually each dance center sells dance clothing, there are several stores around KC, it's been a few years for me, but here goes: Downtown Lee's Summit-on Douglas, On Metcalf at 103rd street in the shopping area where Krispy Kreme is around back at the 103rd street side, downtown Raytown in that small shopping center where Blue Ridge jogs, Target and Walmart both have some dance wear in each girls clothing area and I'm pretty sure Walmart sells ballet shoes, I don't know if they are as good as the dance store brand.

I don't know how long you can wait, but I own the Just Between Friends Children's and Maternity Consignment Sales Event coming up at the KS Speedway April 3-4. I just had a consignor email me yesterday saying she was looking to sell a bunch of girls sports equipment including leotards (new and barely worn). I suspect you will find ballet shoes as well. Walmart & payless I don't know where you live, but the Walmart that is on 75th & Frontage road has them in the little girls section. They have short/long sleeve and different colors. They also have tights. They have shoes, but they didn't fit my daughter, so I got hers at payless.
