Hey Moms! My almost 3 year old is really wanting to be a ballerina for Halloween. I have the clothes but can't find shoes. Any ideas on where to get some inexpensive ones for trick or treating?
I saw them today at Walmart in the girls' section for under 7.00. They have black and pink, and they do have sizes that will fit a 3 yr old.
I just bought last week a pair at Kid to Kid in Highland Village that were virtually brand new and they were only $5.00. I love that place!

Like Melinda M said, Taylor Dance Studio has a large bin where people sell their used articles at next to nothing. It's like an exchange, but with a price. I bought my daughters shoes there to use for ballet for $5 or $6 dollars, and they were in great shape. And they were the real things, not from Payless or Walmart. So, all you have to do is walk in when it's open, go through the bin, find what you want. There will be a card in the ziploc bag with the shoes that says how much they cost and who to pay. You can leave a check in the bag to the person and put the bag on the counter so the person will be sure to get it. There are also leotards, tap shoes, jazz shorts, etc... Also Taylor Dance will sell any overstock they have of ballet costumes from their Spring and Fall recitals. (not sure how much.) Taylor Dance is located on the NorthEast corner of 75 and White in the very back corner.

Our dance studio has a bin of shoes that current students sell for great prices. They just put them in baggies with their names on them, and if you find something you can use, you pay the front desk and they pass along the money. Some studios also have a costume resale day, usually around Halloween, for just this purpose!
I've seen the little leather slipper kind at some Walmarts and Payless. If you want them to be fancy you can always take some pink ribbon to wrap up her legs to look like the adult ballerinas.
Ok, I live in McKinney and I see dance shoes at Kid to Kid, Goodwill and Ebay of course...

My kids do theatre, so they always need dance shoes, but it doesn't matter if they fit perfectly (like it does for dance). So, we buy all of them at Kid to Kid, Once Upon a Child, and Cutie Patootie. They usually run about $3-5 depending on condition. I always buy extras and keep them in a bucket in my hall closet, so we can easily find them.
There is a store called "artful dancewear" in the shopping center on the southwest corner of Walnut Hill and 75 (in Dallas) that has ballet shoes for about $15-my 2 year old got hers there :) hope that helps!
I've had luck in the past finding the pink ballet slippers at Payless. Good luck and enjoy your ballerina!
Payless Shoe Source. They are having BOGO, by one get one half off, for one more day today I think. You could buy a pair of shoes (or an accessory or socks, etc.) for yourself or her and then get the ballet shoes for 1/2 off. I'm sure she'll wear them out playing dress up.

Consignment stores have tons of them....just bought my 5 year old tap, ballet and jazz shoes used and good cond. for dance. Kid-Kid in Plano, once upon a child in carrollton and plano or a new store in the colony by kroger.
Try Payless. I was always able to buy my daughter's ballet and tap shoes there.
Target has the kind that are like isotoner slippers. They're comfy and stay on little feet well.
Definitely check resale shops. Call first to see if they have the right size -- it should be the same as her shoe size.
Kid to Kid in Highland Village had a bunch when I was there on the 6th.
I actually found a very good and very inexpensive pair at Payless! Worked just as good as the 'nice' ones. Also, alot of the used kids clothing stores (at least the ones around me) have them. Most are in very good condition and cheap. They even have used dance outfits. Good luck!!
Check all the children's resale stores. You could also ask on Freecycle- I'll bet someone has a pair they don't need anymore.
I saw some on Craigslist.org last week for a 3 yr old. Just put in ballet shoes and it should come up under baby section
