My family is planning to move to Sachse soon and so we are looking for an electric company. We have gone online to the "www.powertochoose.org" website, which is helpful, but I was wondering if any of you are really happy with yours. We currently have GEXA but are also looking into Amigo, Spark, National Power Company, ans StarTex because they look the cheapest on that website. Does anyone have any experience with these companies or recommend others?

What about for gas?

A., I hope you will also consider Stream Energy. I have been a happy customer for several months and in the interest of full disclosure, am also an independent director with them. Feel free to browse my website www.davedls.igniteinc.biz where you can view an Energy Rate Comparison Chart as well as sign up for service AND MAKE MONEY on your electric bill as well. Happy to answer any other questions you may have!

Hi A.,

I would suggest that you rent and view the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" and then sign up for Green Mountain Energy's 100% Wind Energy Plan. The true "cost" of cheaper electricity is going to be paid for by our children and grandchildren in the form of increasing air pollution and global warming if we do nothing today to help solve those problem. Green Mountain's 100% Wind plan costs about 10% more than conventionally produced electricity. That means if your average current electricity bill is $100 per month, you'll pay $10 a month more to help reduce the amount of green house gases and pollution that are spewed out into the very air we all breathe. That's a VERY small price to pay to help clean up the air in North Texas. Best regards, N.

Stick w/ TXU or Gexa.
Do not use Stream Energy. Stream Energy is a scam!! Against our better judgement, we decided to help a family member with her growing business as a Stream rep. Our first bill from Stream was $687.00 and we were out of town for 8 days out of that particular month. A normal bill for our 1850 sq ft home in the summer is $300-$350 from TXU. In the winter it's about $150. We contacted BBB and I've also heard from others with similar experiences.

As far as gas goes we use Atmos Energy(summer is about 50-60 and winter is 100-125). Good luck with your move!

I don't know if you are able to get Garland Utilities at your location--but if you can, go with them. They don't advertise to be the cheapest, but their rates are good, their customer service is excellent, and if you have a problem paying your bill for any reason they will work with you. They don't charge an arm and a leg deposit and reconnect fee and they don't cut off your electricity if you are an hour late paying your bill (I won't mention who I've heard does this). I've been with them for twelve years and will never change. I'm very happy with them. I believe they service Garland and Sachse, but I'm not sure.

I chose StarTex because its CEO was a woman.
