Hi Mom's - This is our first trip as a family and we will need to take some sort of transportation (car) to the airport. We have 2 adults and 2 kids in car seats (one infant, one booster). We will be bringing the car seats with us so we are over the child safety hurdle, but I need recommendations of affordable, depenable services to get us to the airport and that I can schedule ahead of time. Please let me know if you have any reco's. I'm trying to avoid this being stressful since I'm thinking the airport, airplane, etc. will be stress enough! :) THANKS!

What can I do next?

I don't have their phone number, but American Taxi is good. A lot of my friends use them, and I have never heard of them not showing up on time.

I agree that American Taxi is great. I've never had a problem, and they almost always come early.

Not sure what others have suggested, but consider driving and parking at an off-site lot. We do it all the time so we can take the children in their carseats. Avistar (I think also called Park, Fly, Ride USA or something like that) is very close to the airport, you can make your reservation in advance and the cost is significantly less than parking at the airport or even getting a limo service.

When you arrive at the facility, a valet will take your car and park it for the duration of your trip. You will get a claim ticket for when you return. You'll then jump onto a shuttle that takes you to the airport and drops you right at the terminal. It's about a 5-8 minute drive. The driver even helps put your luggage on and off the shuttle. It couldn't be easier.

When you land back to the airport after your trip, you'll have a number on your claim check to call. You let them know you've landed and have your baggage. They'll send the shuttle to pick you up and let you know where it will meet you. You jump back on the shuttle, head to the facility and when you arrive they'll have your car pulled up and waiting for you.

This has worked very well for us. I highly recommend!

I use West Suburban Travelers Limo. They have been reliable and dependable for me for about the past 15 years. http://www.westsublimo.com/

this all depends on where you live...we take the El or a cab, but we live downtown.

I also live in Westmont and we fly a few times a year with our kids. We have found it best to take a cab, and we have ALWAYS had on-time pick-ups from American Taxi. Budget about $60/each way for the cab. It sounds expensive, and it is, but so is parking at the airport. Depeding upon how long you will be gone, it might be more cost effective to park in the long-term lot at O'Hare, and then take the tram to the terminal. That's about $20/day.

Happy Travels!

If you're in the city (not sure if they're in the burbs)...Uber Cab. Cab service but nicer and you pay ahead so when you get to the airport, you can get out and go. We've used it in the city to get around...nice, new cars. You have to download their app to get in touch with them.

We have always used American Taxi. They have set prices to airports. They have always been on time or early. You can book them online both to and from the airport. If you create an acct with them, they might end you coupons on your email.

I recommend American Taxi as well. Another good option is to park in remote parking at O'hare for something like $5 a day. I mean the remotest of remote parking--it's just south of the intersection of Manheim Rd. and Higgins. A shuttle bus runs all the time and would pick you up from this parking lot and then drive you about a block to the end of the airport tram line. You would then take the airport tram right to your terminal. If you park right at the tram line in regular remote parking it's more expensive, but that unattached lot with the shuttle bus is cheapest. Go to Ohare's web site to check it out. (I think some private companies do something similar, but I don't know how trustworthy they are.)

I also recommend American Taxi. Never had a late pickup (both during the early hours and "busy" hours). Plus, it's "door to door" so you don't have to worry about hauling kids/stuff in between cars/buses/trams/etc.

A Touch of Class Limo is very affordable, I just schedule with them yesterday.
