Where Do You Park When You Fly Out of O'hare?

We will be taking a vacation in a few weeks and we are trying to figure out the best and most economical way to get to/from the airport. I have checked into limo's but they seem expensive. I wouldn't mind a taxi or driving and parking ourselves.

Have you used a taxi? how was it? (I am in New Lenox)

Where have you parked and how easy was it getting shuttled to the airport (I have 2 children traveling with me). Did you have to wait a long time? How were the prices? Any help would be appreciated!

What can I do next?

Long term parking. Taking the tram couldn't be easier and it's fun for the kids. American Taxi will probably cost you $50 each way. Call for approx rates. The drivers have always been pleasant. If you think you will spend more than that parking long term take the taxis. And if you can pay someone you know with a van $20 each way that's always the best and cheapest option :)

Hi J.,

I used to travel a lot for work and I would always use Pride Parking. They are wonderful!!!! You can go online and make your reservation and you save money! I think it is around $7.50/day if you do it online. They are family owned and I never have to wait more than 5 min! They will even wash your car if you would like while you are gone. In the summer they have your car running with the air conditioning on if it is hot and the winter your heat on so you don't have to freeze! You can check them out online at www.prideparking.com. Good Luck!!! Have fun on your trip!

I have always used Avistar. They have an big indoor garage and you can request your vehicle be parked indoors or outdoor (outdoor is cheaper). You just pull in the garage give them your info and hop on the shuttle. If there is not one in front of you then one will be there in 5 minutes. With all the rain we have had it is nice not to have to stand outside and get all your things out. The internet like someone said usually has coupons. Try typing in airport parking in yahoo or google and you can find coupons. Have fun!!

What ever you do, don't park in an opened parking lot. My brother in law works there and the top of his car is discolored due to the airplane fuel that (I guess) comes out fromt the air planes when they take off.

Pace may have a bus that can take you there. You'll have to check out their website. I know there's one that travels down LaGrange, but I don't know where New Lenox is.

But, then if you are traveling with a child, it might be easier to catch a cab. You can call a cab company and ask how much they would charge to drop you off an pick you up from O'Hare. We usually just pay a neighbor 20-25 bucks to drive us and then another 20 to pick us up.

Check online for Park Ride & Fly, it is a website which allows you to reserve a parking spot ahead of time, there are a few different lots which are within 1-2 miles from O'Hare, there are usually coupons and the prices are from $9-$14 per day depending if you want indoor or outdoor parking, we use this service all the time and it is great, my daughter is 7 and we have been using this service since she was 2, they have shuttle buses every 5-10 minutes and they let you off at the terminal, they take your baggage on and off. It's a great alternative to a limo and way cheaper. We have never had a problem and you only need to allow for an extra 20 minutes, if that. Good Luck.

I use the Park and Fly on Mannheim Rd right near O'hare. I have never had to wait long on either end, The cost is about 10-12 a day. When I drive to the airport, I always use them. There are others, but I've always been happy with their service.
They used to be called Navistar. I think it's call Park and fly, I'm sure you can google it.

we've taken American taxi and to tinley it wasn't too bad. I think like $40 one way, but that was a couple years ago. It was fine, but if you want your kids in carseats you have to bring them. They don't have to be in a cab though, but of course it's safer. Google "sleep park n fly ohare". Depending on the length of your stay and what time of the day you leave, it might be cheaper and easier to stay at a local hotel. They will shuttle you to the airport and keep your car while you're gone.

Good luck!

We always park in longterm parking, go as if you are going into the internation term, then follow the signs, you exit to the right, right away, and they turn left at the light.. by all the car rental places..it is very easy and you miss all the airport traffic this way!! you park, ride the tram in, right to your terminal.. it is $10 per day, and so worth it. The kids love riding the tram.. adds to the adventure..we took our kids at 2 and 3... then again when they were 4 and 5, and a 10 month old.. much easier than waiting for a cab/limo... good luck and have a great trip!

This may not be a whole lot of help because I can't remember the name of the hotel I parked at for sure, but I think it is the Marriott or it is the Sheridan. It was the cheapest I could find and it was really easy to get to. It was literally about 2 minutes from the highway. The hotel staff was really nice and friendly. They have a shuttle that takes you to the airport (we waited about 5 minutes on the departure, but on the arrival we waited about 15 minutes) I think I paid about 60 bucks for a whole week!!!! It's been a while so sorry about being foggy. Oh I do remember you HAD to pay for it online and print out a little ticket, if not our parking would have been over 200 dollars.

Flying with kids is stressful...Hopefully, you were able to get a good deal on your flights...Airport parking is pricey..and lots of trucking around luggage with the kids and getting to and from the parking is just not worth it....Either BEG a friend or neighbor to take you for $50 or do the limo service for $110...Door to door with no hassle is worth every penny! I use White Knight Limo Service ###-###-####...they need your flight numbers and they check to be sure that the plane is not late...Take your phone charger with you and just call them after you have gotten your luggage and be alwert to which gate you are closest to.the car will drive right up and pick you all up within a few minutes and you will be wisked home...the kids will even behave better in a limo....
Have a great trip! And be sure to allow enough time!

Just a suggestion. We have a family friend drive us to the airport in our car and return our car to our garage. Then he picks us up the same way. In this economy I bet there is someone you trust who could use the money. We give him $50 each way. Have a great trip!
