We have used Preferred Transportation for 8 years now and they are so kind and dependable. They will pick you up and take you to the airport as well as get you at the airport. They house out of the Las Colinas Mariott and in the past when we have had the car seats and not needed them for the plane, they can keep the car seats at the hotel for you and bring them when they pick you up from the airport. Jimmy Richardson is the owner...

We have used The Parking Spot at DFW several times -- both locations -- and have always been pleased. You drive to their facility near the airport, then their van drives right up to your car after you've parked to load your stuff. Their vans pick you up outside baggage claim and return you to your car. You might need to check on making a reservation to be sure to have a spot when you need it, especially if it's during peak travel times.

We always use The Airport Valet http://www.theairportvalet.com/prod/pagesClient/default.aspx when we travel out of D/FW. It's not a shuttle - you take your car to the airport, the Airport Valet employee meets you, then takes your car to their parking facility. Upon return to D/FW the Airport Valet will meet you in baggage claim, assist you in getting the bags to your car (which in now in The D/FW parking lot), and usually provide bottled water. There's no waiting for a shuttle, or trying to get to the car you parked at D/FW (bad if you return to a different terminal). It's an awsome service. D/FW Airport has a similar service, but I highly recommend The Airport Valet company.

We use Allen Limo services. It is much better than a shuttle in our opinion because you have the limo to yourself and you get direct service to/from airport. It's not THAT much more expensive than the shuttle.

Remember, if you are on shuttle, they make up to 3 other stops so you could be the first picked up and still have to wait on 3 others to be picked up. Same goes for the ride home, you might be the last one dropped off at home. That is a lot of wasted time in my book and my time=money.

We have taken our twins on several trips, starting when they were 6mo. We parked in the least expensive shuttle parking at DFWand took the bus into the terminal. We left them in their carseats every time. Next time we fly they will be almost 3 so we will let them sit with us and just shlep the carseats. For us, paying to park at the airport, even if it's $10 per day, is worth it for us rather than paying a limo service to come pick us up at our home and tkae us back. We are all the way in Denton.

Kids do not need carseats in shuttles, buses or taxis. When my daughter was an infant I travelled with her car seat. We will be heading to Orlando next month and since we will be renting a car I will be taking her booster seat with us.

That's gonna vary depending on the laws in your state. In general though the law is the same for shuttles and cabs as for private cars. I rode SuperShuttle recently (without my son) and my reservation confirmation clearly said that if a child is required by law to use a carseat, they must use it in the van. The driver might not enforce it, but they COULD refuse you service for not having the seats available.

Honestly, whether they "have" to or not, do you really want your little ladies in a car without being properly buckled in?

Call the shuttle or cab company and ask. That way you'll have a definite answer.

Where do you live? You want something from your home to the airport, right?

most of the airport shuttles are vans,so you will need your own carseat .

When my son was 6 months old, we took a shuttle from a hotel to DFW airport to take a flight to Colorado. We did NOT use his carseat -- we didn't ask the driver and the driver didn't say anything about it. I just held him all the way there --- I don't know the laws, though.

Have you considered taking a limo. I know it sounds expesive, but by the time you pay per person for the shuttle it is often cost effective to rent a limo. We did this when the kids were little b/c they dropped you off exactly where you need to be and are waiting for you when you come back (so great!)

And yes, to answer your question, we used car seats in the limo, but you can only use them in the forward-facing seats. When we used airport shuttles (usually short trips) we didn't use the seats, but it made me VERY nervous. Good luck!
