Does anyone have any tips for removing a black Sharpie, permanent marker from wallpaper and a comforter. I tried rubbing alcohol on the wallpaper. It didn't budge it. It only faded it slightly on the comforter.

I went to find the Amodex and it a store needed to order it for me. I assume it will work and will be very gentle on whatever the ink is on. Thing is, I get ink stains periodically, so I think it will be a good thing to have around. In the meantime, since patience is not one of my strongest virtues, I used the OFF Insect Repellant. I couldn't believe that it worked. It did fade the wallpaper a little, so I should have tested a small spot first. It helped a lot on the comforter. It didn't remove it 100% but if you don't know its there, I doubt you would notice it. Thanks again for all the help.
As far as the wall & wallpaper use Mr. Clean eraser's we used them & they work wonder's have always came off so far.. As far as the comforter if spraying shout onit didn't work try spraying it with hair spray (I know sounds funny) but I use to do it went I would get ink on my clothes & then I would wash it & the ink would comeout..

You might try a Mr. Clean Eraser. I've used them on several scuffs and marks on the walls and floors and have always been pleased with the results. good luck!
Maybe try letting the comforter soak for 24 hours in OxiClean. That stuff gets things out that I never thought would come out. I have not tried it for permanent marker but it can't hurt!

"The successful stain removal of ink stains differs from case to case because of the many types of fabrics, colors, inks and time elapsed before stain removal. We cannot guarantee stain removal since many variables can be involved. Testing first is always recommended as well as following both the stain remover and clothing manufacturer's instructions. Following these steps should result in partial or complete removal.
General Rules:
1) Treat stains as soon as possible. Fresh stains can be removed more easily than old ones.
2) Check manufacturer's labels as to fabric content and any special instructions
3) Always test stain removal solution first on a hidden part of the article or on swatch of fabric taken from seam allowance to insure no color loss or damage will occur.
4) Where possible, lay stained article face down on paper towels or clean white cloth and apply stain removal solution to underside of stain so that stain can be removed from the surface instead of pushing it through the fabric. Replace towels or cloth as they absorb stain to prevent stain transfer.
5) If enlisting the aid of a professional laundry or dry cleaner, be sure to indicate what the stain is and the type of fabric.
6) Do not iron stained garments or put in dryer as this may set stain.

I googled it, and one recommendation for the wall-paper was a magic eraser. I have had my kids get sharpies (which I'm personally a HUGE fan of) on our laminate floors, and it came off well with a magic eraser.
As for the fabric, that was tougher, and I couldn't find anything on Sharpie's website (but I'd recommend calling their customer service for recommendations). Some people recommended alcohol and Goof Off (which I swear by personally as it gets latex paint out of just about everything).

I hope someone else has had a better Sharpie experience than mine. My son was given a sharpie to decorate a pumpkin at school and a new shirt was ruined in the process. I soaked it in Oxy Clean and every other thing I could think of. Nothing worked - it didn't even fade. Friends of mine had to paint over sharpie on their walls. I love Sharpies and keep them as far away from the kids as possible (although accidents happen and kids are clever about obtaining these things...). After this incident, I asked the teachers to never, ever give my child a permanent marker. They were doing a special project, but my son just isn't ready for the responsibility.

The Mr. Clean Magic Erasers will take it off your wallpaper.
I've tried hairspray on regular ink on my work shirts however not on Sharpie, sorry can't offer a definite on that part.

permanent means exactly that - it won't come out - keep the marker out of reach and provide appropriate creative materials for the kids
try aqua net hairspray or hand sanitizer. Should work on the wallpaper, but maybe not the fabric. you may just have a long time memory with that one! I have a place on my plaster walls that helps me remember my sweet boy when he was almost 2!
DONT dry your comforter in the dryer or iron or otherwise anything to heat-set the stain. I am not sure what will get it OUT though?? There is probably hope though, I got a dry-erase marker on my white sweater, had a nice long "slash" on my sleeve and over the years, it has gradually shrunken down to now it's just a dash. Not so easy to wash a comforter frequently I know. Is it a reversible one?? Could you lay a blanket on top where the marker stain is??

We had just received an offer on our house and were packing. I had a sharpie on top of the taller dresser in my 2yo's room for labeling boxes as we were packing. He, instead of napping, destroys the room by tearing the wall paper border off, and climbing up on top of the dresser and markering all over the box, the wall, and the fabric honeycell insulating blinds. I was sooo upset. Tried to get the blinds especially cleaned. Only faded it (and I think I used bleach.) I'm curious if it ever went away (or if the new buyer simply replaced it.) Fortunately the majority of his artwork was on the cube box, all sides of it, but the wall and the fabric blinds did take a bad hit. You're not alone! (((HUGS)))
The Magic Eraser took silver sharpie pen off of our walls, entertainment center and chairs. It did not work to get the sharpie off of the white couch though. Don't know if it will work the same on wallpaper either, but the Magic Eraser is awesome and works on most surfaces. It does remove the paint from the wall though if you scrub too much so be careful.
I haven't had this happen yet so I only looked to see what others said and was glad to see that there are things out there to take it out!
And I think it's funny some had to tell you to keep those things away from your kids... I'm sure you know, but sometimes stuff just happens, right? :)
goof-off you can purchase it at home depot. prob. will not work on the comforter- but should on the wall paper.

I know it sounds crazy but my son found out accidentally that OFF insect repellent aerosol spray takes sharpie off of almost anything. We have used it many times over the years. Good luck!
I had it on a chair, and hairspray worked wonders! We also used it on the wood, but I'm not sure how it would work on wallpaper. I'd go for the Magic Eraser on the wallpaper. Good luck!
