Searching for Obgyn/midwife

I am relatively new to the area and am looking for a good ob/gyn or midwife. I used a midwife with both of my children and had a wonderful experience. Although I don't specifically need a midwife, it is important to me to have a dr with a good beside manner, is patient, open to holistic/natural approaches, etc. affiliation with st. vincents or clarian north would be a plus!

What can I do next?

Hey J.! Just to let you know, Clarian North does not allow midwives to deliver babies (why, I don't know). St. Vincent's has a very high epidural and c-section rate and from what I've been told are not super supportive of natural childbirth.
Now, Clarian North has a beautiful facility, so if you're not dead set on a midwife I would definitely go there since you're already in Carmel. My midwives name is Carla Cleary and she is at the Nurse-Midwives center on 38th street (near the art museum). She's great, and has privilages at Methodist Hospital, which has birthing tubs and nurses specifically trained in natural childbirth. Carla is Bradley Method trained and really takes her time with you. The Nurse-Midwives center also facilitates delivery. They have a beautiful birthing room with a big tub and queen sized bed ( I would be delivering there, but my insurance will not cover it). Their website is www.indianabirthcenters.com. Also, the OBGYN on staff at the birth centers name is Mary Soper, and she has privilages at Clarian North. While I've heard that her bedside manner is a little stiff, she is a great doctor and COMPLETELY supportive of natural childbirth.
Hope this information helps! Good Luck!
E.

I am really happy with the ob/gyn that I use. Her name is Susan Kindig. She is with Women's Health Alliance located at
Clarion North - ###-###-####. She delivered our first child and the experience was a wonderful one for both myself and my husband. I have no idea if she is accepting new patients but
I would highly recommend her. Good Luck and Welcome to Carmel.

Dear J.
I highly recommend Dr. Arthur Galstian he is located 90th and Meridian ###-###-####. I had a high risk twin pregnancy a few years ago and he was my ob. I delivered very healthy babies and I have been with him ever since, also I have recommended several of my friends and collegues to him and all have loved him too. To me, he is the best and has the best bed side manner. He explains everything so you can understand it clearly. Wonderful doctor.

I absolutely love my OB/GYN, Dr. Dana Bush. She is affiliated with St. Vincent's. She puts me completely at ease, and I actually enjoy my appointments. She makes an effort to really get to know her OB patients...no rushing you in and out. Sometimes we just sit and talk about random topics for 20 minutes or more. I never have to wait very long to see her, either (5 minutes max). The staff there is very friendly, too.

My friend has had 3 babies at Methodist, and has used a doula, and brought in her own acupressure practicioner. She had her last baby in the pool, which is in the birthing room. It sounds like they are open minded there. I don't know the name of her doctor, though, sorry! There is also some sort of Midwifery Center on 38th St, just west of the Art Museum. They may be able to help. If you need more suggestions, you can e-mail me and I will get the specifics for you.
