I am getting the nookcolor for christmas.
The two reasons are 1) it has access to more libraries. both barnes and noble and books a million use the nook.
and 2) the color is great for magazines and kids books.
My 12 year old son wants one of these for Christmas and I am trying to figure out wich one to get him. Any one have one or know any thing about them? I know it is an odd thing for a 12 year old boy to ask for but he loves reading and has tons of books. Thanks.

Actually I just got a nook, and I researched this before-hand. The prices are set by the publisher, not Amazon or Barnes & Nobles. If you look, you'll find the same free books on both. Same prices.
My reason for choosing the nook was 1) nook can download ebooks from the library, kindle can't. 2) Nook has a lend me feature, so you can lend books to your friends 3) Nook battery can be changed, when it dies, but kindle can't.
I like the color Nook... but I think that what you really should do is go to both companies web sites and see which one fits your sons needs, does or doesn't he need color, wi-fi etc. I believe that for both once you own them you can down load aps / software to read your books on your computer Blackberry, I-Phone etc... You can also can save the books you purchase for the Nook on your computer (I think the same may be available on Kindle) and with Nook you can lend friends with Nooks books as well (not sure on Kindle).
Good luck!
Good lucj
I just recently got a Kindle and love it. I decided on the Kindle. Here is a really great review that provides detail comparison between the Kindle & Nook.

I have the Kindle and love it. My 10 year old loves it too. I did some comparison between it, the Nook and the Sony Ereader and preferred the Kindle. There are a LOT of free books through amazon for that age group, or they are very inexpensive. I think the most I have spent is $4 on a book for him. There are quite a few websites out there where you can compare based on reader reviews that are helpful, depending on what meets you needs. I have never had a problem with my Kindle though.
I don't know anything about the nook, but if it has a back light, then choose that one...I have the Kindle and love it, but it doesn't have a back light, so you can not read at night without a light source...hope that helps :)
I have a kindle and love it, I havent looked at the knook so I cant compare. You can find books for super cheap or even free from amazon (which is where you download from.) The screen is very easy to read, it will hold a lot of books and when its memory gets full you can delete them and amazin keeps them in your account so you can upload later (no extra costs). I would suugest checking prices of books for each and selection of books for each to see what would fit your son the best before you purchase.
Love, love, love my kindle!!!!!!
