Needing a Good Reclinging Lightweight Stroller or Umbrella Stroller

Hi I've been looking for a good lightweight stroller or umbrella stroller to use on quick trips to the store or zoo. I've been looking at the Bumbleride Indie (love it) but the size is not much smaller than the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe stroller we have now. Bumbleride is also coming out with the new Flite which is not due out until April....any suggestions. Budget is not too much of a concern if its a great stoller!

What can I do next?

I LOVE my Maclaren Techno XT. I had flimsy umbrella stroller before and hated it - the Maclaren was recommended to me by my sister-in-law who loves hers as well! It's definitely heavier than my $20 umbrella, but it's still lightweight enough where I totally use it for my everyday stroller. I think it weighs about 14 lbs or so.

- folds up easily
- has a 5-point harness
- seat reclines (nice feature when your little one is tired!)
- small space underneath for storage
- cup holder
- adjustable handles (great as my hubby is taller than me)
- wheels around so smoothly and takes tight corners well
- slim enough to get through the smaller isles in a store
- comes with an attachable rain shield which protects your little one completely when it's raining! I didn't think I'd really use this, but I do!!

Those are a few highlights for me. Also, I may have an older model and when Maclaren did the recall, their customer support was excellent and they sent their covers for the hinges out right away.

I was going to tell you all about my Combi, but it looks like the previous poster already told you everything! It's our wonderful lightweight stroller, it's good up to 55 lbs., and I love the strap on the back. We are going to have to buy another one soon because I think we need one for each child! My husband works at Babies R Us, and although I think he's quick to point out how much he loves it himself, he says he sells more of that than any other lightweight stroller. It's especially wonderful for those traveling to Disney World or any other such busy destination where you will be traveling by bus because you can strap it to your back and still hold your child/child's hand at the same time. The colors are nice, too.

We purchased the Graco IPO stroller for a trip to Florida. We were able to gate check it yet it had a 50 pound weight limit so it worked well for our 3 year old. I am thrilled with it. It is less expensive than some of the others and just as nice.

I have the Combi umbrella stroller and love it as my small and easy stroller. It is super easy to fold up and even has a strap so that you can sling it over your shoulder (really light-weight). It has a cover over the top and a basket underneath. It also has a cup holder. The only thing that I have found is that after about a year and a half, when it folds up, it doesn't "click" into place quite as securely. But it still folds up and stays folded up and I haven't been that gentle with it, honestly. It cost around $100.

We have a Maclaren Quest and we love it. We've had it for over 3 years and it is holding up great. I primarily use it for my 1 1/2 year old now, but my 3 1/2 year old still rides in sometimes and he still likes it too. It has been on many trips to the mall and zoo with us. We also took it to London a few years ago and pushed it all over the city! It will be going on vacation again with us this spring. Good luck!

City Mini by Baby Jogger! I cannot say enough good things about it. i researched strollers for weeks, then I found a video online demonstrating how it folds up, and I was sold. It costs less than those big plastic monsters, and it is sturdier than an umbrella. Good points: Very comfortable for my 39 inch tall two year old (other jogging strollers, even the $500 ones were too short), reclines all the way to flat, 3-point harness, three phase canopy, with two peeking windows, for sun protection at any time of day, folds up with one hand (there is a handle in the seat, you grab it, pick it up, it folds itself, you put it in the trunk!) It unfolds simply by grabbing the handle and letting gravity unfold it, you can easily steer it with one hand, you can walk upright behind it, even my 6 foot tall husband can walk behind it without hitting his toes, it balances well, so that even if you disregard the warning sticker and hang the diaper bag from the handle, it doesn't tip over, it is small enough and agile enough to navigate the tightly packed bargain stores (even the double-wide will fit through a doorway), you can hose out the seat when the almost-potty-trained toddler has an oops, and it comes in bright orange and folds up flat in the trunk. Bad points: You have to buy a cup-holder separately if you want to do the latte thing, otherwise there is a net on it that works for bottles, the cargo basket on bottom is small, and some parents don't like it, but I have never had a problem. Later, if you want to use it for holding a car seat, you have to buy a bar for it, but it fits most car seats that way, and people who don't need it don't have to pay for it.

I love love love my stroller! When I was buying it, a man came up to me and said, "We bought that one a couple of months ago, and it has changed our lives." I thought that was a bit absurd, after all, it is just a stroller, but I think he was right. If Babies R Us carried it, I am sure every other stroller company would simply go out of business.
