Hello- My daughter just turned 3 and our stroller has many, many miles on it. Time for a new /newer one. I am traveling soon and I know I will need it. So any help or advice on one that you LOVE, please let me know. Ideally, I would like something with good shade and a small basket underneath.
Thank you ladies and enjoy the beautiful weekend!

I love my Chicco. They are inexpensive and very lightweight. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old and I can open and close my Chicco with one hand while holding my youngest. Easy access basket underneath and sunshade are also great.
Hope that helps!

I love my Peg Perego Aria stroller. It is kind of pricey but well worth it. It only weighs 7 pounds, much like an umbrella stroller but has a shade, basket underneath, and a tray with cupholder for the child. It also has a cupholder for the adults too that attaches on. It is so lightweight and easy to manuever. I love mine!

Maclaren is the way to go! I did tons of research on this. Chicco and Combi were on the list. Chicco only went up to 37 lbs I think and Combi was hard to push (couldn't maneuver with one hand) when you put a 2 year old in it. The Quest is the first Maclaren model to offer enough recline, but it is so worth it. Much more maneuverable than the other light weight strollers and holds up to 55lbs. It folds flat - very small and weighs around 12 lbs. (The Maclaren Volo is a lot lighter, but doesn't have recline. Triumph only has one recline position which is not enough.) The Quest is quite a bit cheaper than the Techno which you really don't need unless you need to attach an infant car seat. It has a decent sun canopy and basket for its size. If you want a full coverage sun canopy as we did walking around in NYC, buy the PROTECT A BUB sun canopy. Absolutely perfect! We also bought the Valco Universal cupholder as an added accessory for our Maclaren. We couldn't be happier!

By the way, we just took our Maclaren to NYC for 3 days. I probably saw 200 strollers in the time we were there. 75% of them were Maclarens. 20% Bugaboos and %5 Misc. Truthfully! I was shocked at the Maclaren popularity, but it really validated our purchase.

Only issue with the Maclaren is that the buckle / straps are difficult to open. I hear that gets better with use. Good luck!

I have a Graco umbrella side by side for my girls and I love it!! Bought it at Baby Depot at Burlington. I bought my first one at a garage sale, then when I wore that one down, I bought another one. LOVE IT. It is very easy to use and light weight. Some may balk at it because there is not tray up front, but at 3, your DD should be able to hold anything.

McLaren is swesome if you travel a lot - since it is so comapct after folding it. It is very light. I have McLaren Techno and it reclines to almost flat position, my child is almost 3 years old but is very tall for her age (very slim, but solid size 4t) and still fits her fine. We travel overseas a few times a year and it is perfect for the airports and trips in town!

I bought a Red Kolcraft at Sears for $70 for my 9 month old son. it takes up about 1/4 the space of a big Evenflo or Graco. It is great.

I LOVE my Combi Savvy Z, especially for traveling by plane. It is narrow enough to go right down the center aisle and the swivel wheels can lock in a forward position so you're not weaving in and out of each row as you proceed with your arms full. It also folds down small enough to fit in the overhead compartment so you don't have to gate check it. In fact, don't let them make you gate check it (they will try) because you don't want it to end up at the bottom of a pile of heavy suitcases! I have never been on a plane where the overhead was too small to fit this stroller. I think it weighs about 7 lbs.

I have the Silver Cross lightweight stroller. It's nice and only 9 pounds. Folds up easy and has a basket in the back for a small bag. It also has a carry strap that makes it easy to tote around.

We LOVE our BabyTrend stroller from Babies-r-Us. It's lightweight, folds up flat with one hand, and has lots of underneath storage, a canopy for shade, two cupholders up top, and a tray for baby with another cupholder there. We LOVE it, and everywhere we go, moms ask where we got it! And best of all, I believe it's only between about $40-$50.

Good luck!! :)

I would reccomend a Chicco stroler. They have great shade, are lightweight, and turn corners easily. Babies R Us sells them for around $60. Good luck!

Check out www.travelingtikes.com. They have a lot of great lightweight strollers, some already mentioned here. I too have been looking for a replacement to my big bulky travel system stroller and I think I'm going to get the Combi Cosmo DX. It has a lot of the features like storage in the bottom and a canopy that I like. The only thing I'm not sure of is if it reclines, but it's much less expensive than the others and I love the aqua color! Good luck!

My favorite, VERY lightweight strollers are the Peg Perego Aria and the MacLaren Volo. The Aria is a full-feature stroller -- canopy, child tray, full recline, etc. It folds easily and compactly. Weighs almost nothing. It has a basket underneath. It's around $170 new, though you can find them on ebay and in resale shops. A couple of friends have them and love them.
The MacLaren Volo is the one we have. It has high handles, which my tall hubby appreciates, weighs almost nothing, folds to almost nothing and has the neat carry strap (just sling it over your shoulder and hop on public transportation, in a cab, etc.). It does not recline, nor does it come with an attached canopy, but you can buy a canopy/seat pad attachment separately for about $50. The basket underneath is the same sturdy mesh material as the stroller, so even though it looks small, it can hold more than it looks like it would. I can stash a backpack diaper bag and a couple of sippy cups in there, with space on top to set a shopping bag.
