Recommedation for Lightweight Stroller

Hi Moms,

I've been researching lightweight strollers that are good for travel, but none of the product descriptions mention whether the handle bars are adjustable. Can anyone recommend an affordable (under $100), lightweight stroller (could be an umbrella stroller) that's good for traveling and is comfortable to push for taller parents? (My husband is 6 feet tall; I'm 5'4''.)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,

I think that the Mclaren Techo XL has the adjustable handles. Although, the volo is the super light ones. Go somewhere and check them out.

Good luck.

I LOVE my Chicco stroller. The handles are the perfect height (I'm 5'8" and my husband's 6'). I've always thought that strollers should have adjustable handles, but could never find one. The Chicco is very much like an umbrella stroller, but it comes with a shade, a carrying case and it has a little mesh basket underneath to carry things in. I got it at Babies R Us, and it cost about $70. Try it, you'll love it! :)

Just a quick thought, try going on E-Bay and see if they have any?

Might be hard to find "brand new" for under $100? with the specifications you need....
And, try going on Amazon.com and put in the search word "umbrella stroller." They have lots too...

Here's a couple for example, but shipping costs figure into it:

Good luck,

a great inexpensive lightweight umbrella stoller is the graco ipo. it is about 12-14lbs., folds and unfolds easily with one hand (i am 5'1" and 100lbs and can do it while holding a backpack and my 21lb boy on the jetway). it does have rather tall handles too. even though i am short and my husband is only 5'9", this was the tallest one we tested when we found it at BRU. (i don't know how anyone taller than me can push most of those). it is not a typical cheap umbrella in that it reclines. the only down side is that the canopy is small, we purchased the kiddopotomus ray shade which works great. we have used it for at least 5 airplane trips including one to europe where it got a lot of use! it is about $80.

The Maclaren Volo is awesome! It is a lightweight umbrella stroller that folds down into a backpack. We have taken ours on the sky ride and train rides at Busch Gardens and many other places where it is inconvenient to take a stroller. You just fold it in one motion until it clicks locked, sling it over your shoulder, scoop up the baby, and go. It will accomodate a child up to 55 pounds, so you can use it for a lot longer than most umbrella strollers. Plus it has a 5-point harness and a breathable mesh seat that can be hosed off and dries super fast. The handles are longer than most umbrella strollers, which was great for me since I'm taller than most moms. My husband really loves it too. I think they are right around $100 brand new, but they are made so well that I'd look for a used on online first. I bet you can find one on ebay. This is the best stroller we've ever had, and we've had at least 6.

My husband and I were worried about this when we were planning our trip to Kauai, Hawaii last month. We went to babies R US, with 17 month old daughter in tow, and tested numerous styles and brands.

I wanted a reclining stroller. I have seen too many little kids with their poor little heads just hanging when they are napping. And we also wanted an umbrella because of the sun of course. We tested MacClarens, Chico, and Jeep. And right in front of us, we saw the Wendy Bellissimo stroller. It is identical to the MacClaren
Quest. I have heard of Wendy bellissimo but not her stroller. We tested it and we liked it. It is a good strolle if you are tall.

The only part about it is the umbrella is a little flimsy but stays still fine and no cup holder. We bought one anyways. We bought the blue one because we do not know if it will be a boy for us next. It is great so far, easy to break down and has a strap to carry. I just leave it in the back of our truck. I was pretty skeptical on buying it because I like to research things first. I went back home once we bought it and researched it. It received good reviews from the Babies R US mommies. We purchased it for $79.99 because we had a 20% off coupon. It normally reails for $99.99. Good luck!

We just got back from NYC where we used our new BabyTrend stroller and we LOVED it. My husband is 6', I'm 5'7", and it was comfortable for both of us. The handlebars don't adjust, they are just higher than average. We have a Bob Revolution at home, so I'm used to an easy ride (I can push the Bob with one hand if I need to), and I didn't expect to find a lightweight stroller that would be so easy to push, but this one is GREAT. Plus, it's $40!

Hi D.,

We Went on a cruise last christmas and My husband and I bought a combi stroller for our son who was 20 months old at the time. (we got ous from babies R US) it folds into it self and is very light weight. It also has a strap that you can put on your sholder to carry it... The only downfall is that there is no cup holders. So we got some to install for our son and one for us. Hope this helps. Have a great Day.

Get a McLaren and you won't regret it. Doesn't have to be new...look on ebay. Test out the Techno with adjustable grips, but the Triumph might be versatile enough as is. Of our 3 strollers this is our most used. Only wish we had bought it sooner.

We had a Graco MetroLite that we loved (parents and babies loved it!). The handle is adjustable and the stoller is extremely light. It is bigger than umbrella strollers when collapsed, but it is so light that it may not be a problem for you. I think they are over $100 new, but you could check eBay for a used one. I have been checking eBay for one (I gave mine away since I got my great double stroller, but now I want it back!:) and I have seen many come and go for about $50.

D.,

Maclaren has a variety of lighweight strollers that are made for taller parents. They are on the more expansive side but well worth the price. I am 6 feet tall and have one. It was one of my best purchases.

We just bought the Jeep stroller (39.99 at Babies R Us) and like it a lot. My husband is 6'6" and I'm 6'. It's comfortable for me...my husband has to walk to the side because his feet hit the wheels but it was the best one I could find for the price. We have the Bob Revolution which we LOVE but needed something for travel. We took it back East with us and the Jeep stroller did great. Good luck.

We purchased the Chicco umbrella stroller at Babies R Us ($70), then found it on amazon.com for about $55 with free shipping - too late for us, but not for you! Very lightweight, and though it does not have adjustable handles, my husband was comfortable enough at 6'1", as was I at 5'5." We cruised through the airport.

I too would say Graco MetroLite. It has three adjustment heights and is easy to maneuver.

I like this one Baby Trend Trendsport Lite. It's 49.99 now, I paid 39.99 about a year ago at Babies R Us. Read the reviews here, and try it for yourself, but my husband is 6'4" and likes this one a lot. You MUST drop the seat into full recline position to get it to collapse properly. It's very light and has a good storage bin below and two adult cup holders up top as well as kid tray. My daughter is almost 5 now and it's a little uncomfortable for her now since she is so big, but it's great for my 3 year old. Also, doesn't provide good support for infants, but once they can sit up, probably ok then. I would use this instead of those dreaded umbrella strollers that are 10-20 dollars.

We got a Combi at Babies R Us. With the coupon, I think we spent around $80. It's so easy to fold, has a strap for carrying over your shoulder. We walk twenty minutes every day, and it's holding up well. Our son loves the cup holder for sticks and other treasures we find along the way.

Hi D.,

I found Evenflo X-sport Plus stoller works great. It has extendable handles that my husband loves. He doesn't have to hunch over anymore when he pushes the stroller. It has a small basket on the bottom that fits a few items. There are two cup holders on the back of the stroller that fit a 20 ounce water bottle and a big sippy cup/bottle. There's also a few zippered compartments for sunglasses, keys or snacks. It's very sturdy. I can take my daughter out and the stroller doesn't fall over even with a diaper bag on the back. The best part is that it only cost $40. I found it on Amazon and shipping is free. Here's the link...
http://www.amazon.com/Evenflo-Sport-Plus-Convenience-Stro...

I believe Walmart and Target sell them too but I think you have to buy it online and pay shipping.

Hope this helps.
