Our family is saving to order a side of beef. The problem is we can not find any info on organic farms in our area. We really prefer to support a farm that can at least guarantee hormone-free beef. If anyone has any tips for us on farms in Missouri or Southwestern Illinois I would really appreciate it!!
Thank you everyone who responded to my request!! I really appreciate all the information on organic farms. It's cool to know how many people feel the same way about wanting fresh food.
Thanks!!

I believe you can buy organic meat from Harrell's Market in Imperial, MO. It is a small grocery store with very fresh meat but you can also order sides of beef or the whole cow! Here is the address:
Herrell's Market
###-###-####
1015 W Main St, Imperial, MO 63052
American Grass Fed Beef, near Fruitland, MO. It's a straightshot down I-55, and they make frequent deliveries into St. Louis for restaurants. Maybe they would help you out with that since it would be two hours from St. Louis.
Benne's Best Meat, St. Charles, MO. They are very close and very reasonably priced. They also raise chickens and pigs.
Hinkebein Hills Farm, in Cape Girardeau. Karlios sells pork and beef at the Maplewood and Tower Grove markets, should be easy to spot...he's a big guy.
Prairie Grass Farm sells lamb and free range eggs. Dave Hillebrand also sells at the above markets, and you'll spot him right next to Karlios.

I researched this heavily about a year ago. A farm outside Columbus Missouri (http://monatural.com/) temporarily stopped selling, and I needed to find another. The best I found were near Springfield IL. We decided on Indian Creek Farm because he had a passion for organic farming and also sold chickens. He met us at the processing place just south of Springfield so we didn't have to drive very far (and since a side lasts a long time, you don't have to drive it often). We were not disappointed, the meat is fantastic and was well processed (cut, packaged) too. Prices were good too. Contact Indian Creek Farms (Jim Burrus) at ###-###-####. You are doing a great thing for your family!!

Hi! Check the on-line classifieds for the Washington Missourian (a bi-weekly paper). That's where my sister finds hers, and it's fairly centrally located.

I have a contact. It is my friend's mom. She & her husand raise totally organic, grass fed beef. We are going to get one sometime soon. They have certain slaughter times of the year. It is probably in-line with kosher law for slaughtering an animal, which has is calming for the animal & keeps the meat free of stress hormones.
Respond to me directly for her info.

Hi: Give a visit or call to the folks at Local Harvest Grocery (in south STL City, near Tower Grove Park). They sell organic/local/natural meats only, and though I don't their walk-in is big enough to hold a side of beef :), they have lots of great farmer contacts throughout the bi-state area. I bet they can hook you up.
hello. go to schlafly.com website and go to the bottleworks restraunt(they have 2)...click under farmers market. there is a list of really good local farmers..including meat ones. hope this helps.
