Hi, Moms.

I really need your help. After the birth of my son in 2004, I had severe PPD. Since then, I have been on antidepressants, etc.
Late last March, I developed terrible Migraines that lasted through September, thanks to a friend suggesting Salt (not table salt) and Vitamin C. This led to getting tested for Lyme Disease. I don't want to get into that for now.
So, for the last year my life has consisted mostly of laying in bed, being depressed or having alot of physical pain.
After much reading and research, now I'm wondering if I have been dealing with thyroid, adrenal, and other hormonal issues. I know I have thyroid issues as well as I'm anemic.
I really don't enjoy life, have lack of libido, don't enjoy time with my son or husband. My life is pretty much empty and lonely.

I have tried several doctors, none of which seem sympathetic or understanding. I was wondering if you know of a Dr. who will look at these issues as a whole and not just a piece.
Also, has anyone had any experience with the FemCenter in Colleyville, good, bad, etc.

I appreciate your time in reading this long post. My life is really is shambles right now, and I am trying to do everything I can to make it better. I don't want to miss out on another 4 years.

I developed PPD and borderline hypothyroidism after the birth of my child. My symptoms were similar to yours. Standard tests from my primary physician didn't catch the the thyroid problem. Fortunately, my physician was a sharp lady and she sent me to an endocrinologist anyway.

I've had excellent success with Fem Center in Colleyville. I see Dan Petrs. He believes in working with both the blood tests and the patient's physical symptoms. I showed up with a typed list of all my symptoms, which he appreciated (although most doctors might not care for) and we were able to get to the root of my issues fairly quickly.

I know some days it's hard to even get out of bed, much less out of the house to see the doctor. Your symptoms are real, and there is help for you. Good luck, and keep working at it.

Hi! I used to be a pharmaceutical representative who called on ObGyns and, from my experience there, the FEM Centre in Colleyville seems to be an excellent place for the issues you described. I'm confident that they can help you, as helping patients in your situation is all they do. Dr. McWherter owns the clinics (there's also one in Fort Worth) and he's usually in Colleyville on Monday mornings, all day Thursdays and until about 2:00 on Fridays. He's certainly not the only practitioner who can help you, though. You'll have tests run that will measure your hormone levels + a few other parameters and they'll recommend supplements to you. Dr. McWherter has written a book on women's health and you should be able to find plenty of information on him and the FEM Centre on the internet. If you'd prefer, Kim Williams works with Carie Boyd @ Carie Boyd's pharmacy in Hurst on Grapevine Highway and she's incredibly knowledgeable about hormones, neurotransmitters and nutrition, all of which play an essential role in overall health. (They're very familiar with the practitioners at the FEM Centre, too.) Kim would be MUCH easier and quicker to see, which would be a primary advantage of seeing her first. If you want more than what she can provide, you can always make an appt. at the FEM Centre. Kim's number is ###-###-####. Please feel free to mention my name - S. King. Good luck! I KNOW that one or both of these two references will be able to get you back on the right track!

I don't know why I feel called to tell you this, since it's not even what you're asking...but once you visit an understanding doctor and get your hormonal/thyroid issues under control and are physically healthy, check out www.createagreatlife.org. It's an amazing, amazing, AMAZING program that will help you deal with and clean up any messes that have been made in your life during the time you've been dealing with this and not at your best. I have seen it transform hundreds of people's lives that were in shambles. It would be a great gift to you and your family.

Wherever you go or whatever you do -- best of luck, and take care of yourself!!

Good Morning,
I hear your frustration and pain. You really need to be tested on your hormones and thyroid. They can make you deathly ill, especially your thyroid. I have dealt with thyroid problems the last 10 years and it affects your total well being, you can have fatique, depression, loss of interest in life, sex and almost anything, you can have headaches, get frustrated easily, gain weight. The list is huge. So you have to get tested. I have gone to the Fem center and they do a great job. I would suggest going because they help with your whole picture. But before you go there I would also suggest you go see a Naturpathic Doctor, her name is Joan Vandergriff and she can also help get you started on a healthier path. She is great and really cares about helping you feel better. Give her a call you will be amazed. I suggest you get started right away, you have waited long enough!

Her number is ###-###-####

I wish you the best!

Try thinking outside the box. after a couple of years of being very sick, and docs not being able to help I thought about trying acupuncture. seriously what did I have to lose. After first visit, migraines gone, (have never come back 7 years later) asthma gone, (wasn't even seeing them for that!) and I got my life back. I was told back then, due to health problems, I would never have another child, and I am now due in 3 weeks, and healthier than when I had my 1st 10 years ago!

Doctor Frank Minirith in Richardson. He looks at you as a whole person. He will recommend supplements when appropriate, and he will recommend medicine accordingly. He has books out as well...One is called "Happiness is a Lifestyle." He also has excellent counselors working for him; I recommend Staci Farmer. He will order a full blood workup for you to check all your levels. He really knows his stuff...he's the best of the best.

My mother has been going to Dr. Lida Aghdam at the Natural Balance Clinic in Colleyville. My mother lives in Shreveport but comes to town to see this doctor for hormones. This is her website: www.naturalbalanceclinic.com
The website doesn't give a lot of info about hormones and nutrition but my mother is very happy with Dr. Aghdam.
