M.,
I would not be totally alarmed...The Fem Center in Colleyville is a great place that is where I go Dr.Unell is my
Dr whom I have gone to for years..Marsha his assistant is awesome...
** I should have said in the original request that I am 32 and have never had any issues. I also did not breastfeed. ** I have missed my period for 5 cycles now. I have taken 3 PG tests and my doc has done the bloodwork. All have come up negative. I asked if it could be that the pill I am on is too strong and she said it was my age and it was common. Is that true? To miss 5 times in a row? I am not having any other weird symptoms like cramping or pain or anything like that, I am just not bleeding.
A friend suggested getting a second opinion for hormone testing. I did some research on line and saw a place called the FEM center. I wondered if anyone has recomendations for there or another place in Fort Worth for me to get a second opinion. Thanks.
Thanks all. I have left a message with the FEM center to get a second opinion because my OB/GYN said on Monday that she doesn't think I need further testing because this is normal. I appreciate the opinions and information.

i don't know much about this except my mom went through this and she ended up having to have the lining of her uterus burned or something like that. also, don't forget that stress, working out more than your body is used to can cause skipped periods. good luck.
Hello M.,
also have your vitamin D levels. =) good luck. ~C.~
I don't know of a place in Ft. Worth, but I did go the The Fem Center in Colleyville. It's alot of bloodwork and they did a thorough job.... they have lots of supplements and dietary things to help women's issues, and they were very professional. I just don't get a warm fuzzy feeling from them. Not that you have to have that to get good results, but it feels a little too cool for me. But nothing wrong with them professionally.
Any OB/GYN can run a test to check your hormone levels. Depending on what they find will determine what they do next. You don't necessarily need the FEM center. They are very busy and love to put you on a very expensive course of their supplements. If you do decide on the FEM center, I have seen Dr. Unell and he is very good.
Age is a big factor, I had both my children between the ages of 35 and 39, I am now peri-menopausal at age 44. You cannot know when you have reached menopause until you have no periods for a determined amount of time. That's why they call it perimenopausal and not menopause. Good Luck, B.
You didn't give your age, so that makes it harder to respond, but... I had 2 children first one at 34 the second one I was almost 39 and then breast fed for 2 years after the second(never had a period those years while breastfeeding). At 41 y/o after stopping breastfeeding I only had 3 periods and then no more. I went to my Dr and we tested me and I was post menapausal. He did a sonogram on my abdomen and pelvis to check and everything was OK. I had about a year of hot flashes and never had another period. I am now 52 and my same age friends are going thru what I went through 10 years ago. Hope this helps.

If you are on the pill, it could be the pill. My doctor at the FEM center is wonderful. I was having problems skipping periods and he suggested that it might be because I was on generic pills and that they see this alot, he switched me and no more problems. He did an ultrasound right there in the office just to make sure that I had eggs and that my ovaries looked good. He said that hormone testing won't be accurate if you are on the pill or other birth control (they are hormones!) Dr. Unell is a good doctor there, he takes the time to listen and explain things. The only thing I don't like is that he is just a Gyn (he gave up the ob part years ago) so if/when I get pregnant I have to look for another doctor (but I think there might be other doctors in the practice that do everything).
Good Luck.
I don't have personal experience with the FEM center but have heard great things about it. As far as the hormone testing goes, you can't get an accurate picture of what your body is doing while on the pill. I would look for someone who will do saliva testing for your hormone levels (it's more accurate although a lot of MDs will poo-poo that) and ask for an ultrasound to check your ovaries. Good luck!
Hi, M.!
I HIGHLY recommend the FEM Centre. They have a location in Colleyville, as well as the one in Fort Worth. Dr. Joseph McWherter is an Ob/Gyn who owns the FEM Centre and both practices and he no longer accepts OB patients because he is 100% focused on women's healthcare - specifically, women's healthcare as it relates to hormones. If there's an issue to be found, he'll find it! I'm a pharmaceutical rep. who's worked with him for about a year. He also has Dr. Alan Unell at his practice in Colleyville and Dr. Beverly Gerard at his Fort Worth location. Additionally, he has several Physician's Assistants and Nurse Practioners who work with him. I don't think you could find a better practioner! After seeing what he does and how he treats his patients, I became a patient myself. Good luck to you! Please feel free to use my name if you'd like. Sincerely, S. King
