For my daugher's 13th birthday, I'm looking for a bakery that do a custom cake. Someone that can do designer bags or store shopping bags like "Justice" The last party I attended the cake was stunning but had no taste. Can someone help me.
thanks

Lutz on Montrose cakes are so yummy! I don't know if they do the special shape cakes, but as you said another cake had no taste - theirs are awesome.

Another bakery just opened in St Charles (their 2nd location). The Bakers Basket. Very good cakes, donuts, bread, etc. And they do custom cakes. I totally forgot they added this location. They are at Randall & Rt 38 (Roosevelt Rd).

La Petite Sweet in downtown Westmont did a Buzz Lightyear cake for us--looked great and was delicious! They are on Cass Ave, about 1.5 mi south of Ogden.

Lovin' Oven Cakery in Round Lake Beach. I know, it's "too far north", but really, it is worth making the trip. I have been getting my daughter's birthday cakes there for 6 years and we live in the western burbs. Not only are their cakes beautiful, they taste fantastic.

I've used Dinkel's in the city for my son's b-day cake and got tons of compliments on it.

They're at Lincoln and Roscoe.

The Cakery in north aurora is really good. the cakes are fantastic to look at and they taste good. we have been getting cakes there since our oldest got baptized back in 90 when they were just a really small storefront bakery in north aurora. they have a bigger place now and the guy has been on some of those bake off cake contest things on tv. you won't go wrong with them

Cakes Plus in Naperville is closed. Once I found that out I went to Deerfields and they are wonderful! They have a whole calling center for custom cakes and they are amazing with detail.

like another mom said, we love Dinkels but for completely custom decorating you HAVE to go to Tipsey Cake in Bucktown!

I wholeheartedly second The Cakery in North Aurora. The owner, Bob, is a really nice and VERY talented guy (he's won decorating awards and contests and appeared on a couple episodes of a cake decorating TV show). Yes, I might be a little biased since my sister used to work there on their wedding cakes before having her baby, but I always get Cakery cakes for my kids' birthday parties. They're fantastic and very reasonably priced vs a Chicago bakery!

Kean's in Itasca, Andreson's Bensenville, Sam's Club, Northlake (that is closer to you and believe it or not they do some wonderful, yet not very expensive cakes but it is a membership club which means if you don't know someone they catch you with the fee to get in.

You know, I had a Groupon (or something similar) to La Petite Sweet in Westmont for some cupcakes. When I used it a few weeks ago, they had some AMAZING looking cakes in their fridges in the back. If the cakes taste anything like the cupcakes, I'd highly recommend them. Not sure how much they charge for cakes like that (I will be calling them myself to inquire, as my son's birthday is coming up in a couple of months), but it's worth a call to find out!
