J.B.
We just got back from vacation. Kids are 6 - 14. We had the most fun with Battleship and Sorry (the one with the spinner). Other favorites are Zingo and Zingo Math, Sequence, Othello and Stratego. I like Monopoly but it takes to long.
My dd is an UNO fiend, but big brother has talked her into playing trouble with him ( i'm glad she is willing since that one is not my fav, lol)
what does your family like?
feel free to add age group too if you'd like Mine are elem age.
oh My gosh, totally forgot about banana grams, my sis just introduced us to that last month when we stayed with her, My mom and my DD wanted to play 24/7 lol, it was sooo fun!
oh and my altime favorite is clue, but since we don't own that or banana grams wellhave to get that for christmas.

All of us, minus the youngest: MadGabs,Risk, Poker and Pictonary.
Husband and the boys (20,17,16,12,8&6) Settlers of Katan
Me and my youngest, a girl age 4, Candyland & Jengaa
Scrabble
Yahtze
OH YAH! Pictionary too!
My girls are 10 and 13 so we can do games for the older set. Current favorites are Apples to Apples, Catchphrase and Blackjack.
We love a good old fashioned game night and can be a little competitive but it's all in fun!
At Elem age, we LOVED Labyrinth from Discovery Toys. We played all sorts of card games (including blackjack and poker!) Monopoly Jr., Trivia Pursuits versions from Disney to Current Events and Clue. We are middle school and high school now and still play UNO, card games, Monopoly, and my youngest still loves Farkle. I want to go dig out a game now!
My son is 16 now and we have been playing Monopoly for years.
We own 5 versions, and are looking for our 6th.
He found a RISK game at the thrift store - ugh, he makes me play that one - I am no good at world domination. LOL
We always enjoyed Farkle and Yahtzee. Now that they are a bit older (6th & 9th grades), we have discovered Settlers of Catan, and LOVE it!
ETA: Forgot about Catchphrase. We play that when my parents come for a vist... 6 people makes that more fun than just 4.
If it is just my daughter, we can play Othello. But it is a 2 person game, not really for "family" groups. We thought we'd enjoy Life, since we loved it as kids and our daughter discovered it in her Challenge (gifted) class at school 3 years ago. But when I bought it for her/us, it is WAY different than the version we played way back when... and the version she had in her Challenge class. Not nearly as much fun, either. :( really disappointed with that.
Sometimes, without time to play a full game, we just all watch Jeopardy! together, lol.
So many!
We love games.
Our latest addiction is banana grams. We keep the game in the car so we can play at any moment.
Scrabble
Clue
We always have a puzzle going
Our daughter said at college last year, the electricity went out and they had a epic monopoly game that they played by candlelight. The photos looked great.
The 20 questions guessing ball is fun in the car and at restaurants.
Also there is a rathsburger game that is a maze that is also fun.
We like a card/memory game called "Picture-eka". Not quite sure of the spelling. The artwork is so whack-a-do that the kids really enjoy it. My kids are 8 and 5.
Ugh, I really dislike most board games, because they are so, well, boring. Roll the dice, go two spaces, blah blah blah :(
I enjoyed playing Memory with the kids when they were younger, then tic tac toe, yahtzee (good for math facts) and checkers. I never learned how to play chess. My husband did but he was so competitive about it the kids were immediately turned off.
We also had a game called Stare, where you would draw a card, look at a picture for like 30 seconds and then answer questions about it to earn points. That was fun because the younger kids were almost always better than the adults!
I have a bag of scrabble type letters in a banana shaped bag, it's called Bananagrams and it is SO fun! My kids act embarrassed and roll their eyes whenever I pull it out (usually in restaurants or airports lol!) but it's so addictive they always end up joining in :)
We like "ticket to ride", Canasta, scrabble, and Hand and Foot (A card game).
Good luck to you and yours.
We love Uno Attack! It is so much more fun than the original Uno. We also love playing Disney Scene It 1st & 2nd Additions, Sorry, Perfection, and The Game of Life with our 11 year old.
My daughter's a toddler, and husband is totally not interested in playing any sort of games...so I'm going into flashback.
In my family (mom, dad, sis and self), we're all crazy family-gamers. Our favorite, was Rummy (card game), poker, Carrom and Monopoly. Even now, if my sister and I visited them together, we manage to play games for at least a couple of hrs! (sometimes till late in the night! :))
I'm seriously hoping DD's going to turn hubby around, else, the gamer in me is going to burst open through my skull one day...
Bananagrams, Pictureka (we played this last night with my 5 and 9 year olds, so fun!), Pictionary (try it with modeling clay instead of drawing sometime), Five Crowns (a fantastic card game), Farkle and Carcassonne.
I can't believe no one said Apples to Apples!
We *try* to have game night every Wednesday. I have to get better at it tho. We also like to play Pictionaryman.
When I was growing up, our "family" game of choice was Parcheesi. Now when all our family is together, we play dominoes. =)
