When you get together, what's your favorite game to play?

For adults only?

For the whole family (that the adults don't hate)?

So What Happened?

By "adults only," I don't mean "kinky" or "romantic." Just a grown-up game that the adults play over a few beers.

As a family, we enjoy: Farkle, Apples to Apples, Uno, Skip Bo

I love Taboo, Catch Phrase, and similar games.

Hate: Monopoly and other games that take HOURS

Bug, I'm curious about Ticket to Ride. I've heard others say it's a great game....it looks involved. Is it difficult to learn the rules?

Also....card games too! What's your favorite??

Ticket to Ride!!!

That's for us as adults, but we plan to play with my son when he's older.

ETA: I don't think the rules are hard, but it might take a little more time for kiddos. I know MANY families who play this with their kids, so I think it can't be that hard!!

Spades or Poker for the grownups. Sometimes Scrabble.
Also scrabble with the kiddos, or Yahtzee. We like Sorry, also.

Trouble is our favorite family game.

For cards my daughter likes the basics - War, Go fish, Old maid. And she is getting into Uno.

My hubby and I like Scrabble but we never have a chance to play. And we just discovered the app called Heads Up. It's really fun.

as a family?

LIFE. Sorry. Uno. Trouble (yes, still!!).

Adults only? There is a "romantic night" card set...and a pair of dice to roll...it's fun!!

The boys play D&D with their dad. It's not for me. So ti's their 'bonding' time.

Oh yeah...we play a game that was "hot" several years ago - can't remember the name of it - as we don't have the box anymore - just the pieces...castles on each side, discs and "cannons" and knights - it's fun! The winner knocks the knight out of the castle by breaking down the defenses! Great strategy and skill game!

ETA: "adult" game...sorry - Spades (although the kids are catching on)...
See - I'm forgetting all the games we play!! URGH!!

Yahtzee
Assassin (it's an old game from the 70's).
Battleship
Twister
Balderdash
Scrabble
Rumikub

We LOVE Cards Against Humanity (adult!!). It's Apples to Apples for terrible people. Hee. We even had Wil Wheaton make us up a blank question and answer card at a convention. Everyone knows when you get the Wil Wheaton card, you're probably going to win, we call it the Wheaton trump card. We've played it with friends, we've played it with relatives, so far everyone has enjoyed it although we always end up feeling like terrible people for laughing at some of the stuff we pick.

If you're looking for games to play, I highly recommend checking out his web show "Tabletop" on the Geek and Sundry you tube channel. If you ever see the stickers "as seen on Tabletop" on games (I've seen them at Target) that's what they're talking about.

With our 6 year old we play Uno, Candy Land, and just the other day picked up Disney Scene it at a garage sale.

We love good, old fashioned games like Monopoly or Life with the kids.

I can't really think of an adults only game...

Great post! I'm looking forward to seeing some of the other answers!

ETA: Got it. Adult game? We play cards like Rummy or Left-Right-Center. Everyone throws in a few dollars and rolls the dice. I also think Jenga is fun for adults only.

For kids, I forgot about Apples to Apples and Uno! We'll have to get those out and play again!

I'm also going to look into 'Ticket to Ride'. Google, here I come...

Oh! Fun question!

We have a 9 year old and a year old. The 2 year old doesn't play yet :)

As a family we love Sequence and Settlers of Catan (when we have a bigger group, especially), and Yatzee. We have Clue Jr. and son has started to play regular Clue too. We do like the Lego game Minetaurus as well.

Hubs and I love to play Scrabble and DS is getting into it.

I ADORE Boggle, but hubby won't play with me or my family because he always loses!!

Adults: Euchre and Hearts

Kids: We're still working on it. They are only 3 and 6yo. The 3yo simply isn't there yet. I'd like to introduce the 6yo to Crazy 8s, Go Fish, Uno, Yahtzee, and other similar games. She knows her numbers, so it should work. She also loves War, the card game.

My husband and I have a joke: no matter what, we'll always have cribbage.:)

for the rest of the family, I'm leaning toward Qwirkle, Kiddo really likes a couple of cooperative games: Orchard and Granny's House. Sequence Jr gets a lot of action, too.
