I am looking for good board game suggestions DH and I can play with our soon-to-be-9 year old. We will leave the younger babies out for this one. =)

Apples to apples sounds like a good option after reading the contents - any others? We are sick of Monopoly!

What can I do next?

You can search for games on that site.

With my stepdaughter (10) we enjoy Life, Snorta (better with several players, though), Yatzhee and Pass the Pig to name a few. Happy gaming.

Sorry

We like a card game called "Whonoo" by Cranium. Cranium makes a lot of fun, creative board games.

My kids really liked board games so we played a variety of all levels of games. Do you think he/she is ready for something like Clue or Risk? The classics like Chess, Checkers and Cribbage are good strategy games and good for math skills.

ETA: I second the Labyrinth Game! In our house we just call it "the maze game" and we used to play it so much our board and cards have somewhat worn out.

Trivial Pursuit has lots of great versions now.

Maybe a game like Taboo (involves creative thinking and verbal skills).

Have fun!!

Labyrinth Game by Ravensburger

Our daughter loved this game. This company makes great board games. Your sons ability may even allow him to play some of the games for 12 and up .

Yes, Apples to Apples is really fun. My kids are teens now and we still love playing it from to time to time.

Also, they liked Doodle Dice, Clue ( there is a junior one too...not sure on the ages), UNO is always fun as a card game, Trouble...That's what I can think of right now!

Sorry
Blokus
Yatzhee
Life (I bought an old one off eBay - I think the new ones are not as cool as when we were kids)
Qirkle

The classics are always good...
yatzhee
sorry
life
scrabble jr.

Other suggestions...
Racko (don't play for points, to confusing for young ones)
Cranium makes several good games. However, read the package as some are played in teams and you really need 4 people.
Uno
