In Home Childcare - Denton,TX

I am looking for someone to watch my boys 1-2 days a week in my home or theirs.
People keep telling me to put an ad on Craig's list, but I am reluctant to do that. Can anyone tell me how
they found caregivers they trusted? My boys are 4 and 18 months- we do not have any family here and
I have been asking friends and coworkers but so far with no luck. Thanks for any advice you can offer!

What can I do next?

You can look at Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services to find registered in home childcare. They will list how they did on inspections. You can interview the provider. Here is the link:

The other option is to look in the Denton paper and she what you can find.

I have operated a licensed child care home for 23 years currently living in Flower Mound, I do not have any openings at this time but wanted to give you some other ideas on how to find quality child care.

The previous mentioned Texas state site is by far the best place to start.
There are different types of homes Listed, Registered and Licensed.
Listed homes are not inspected, the provider simply pays a fee and has a background check.
Registered homes are fully inspected for safety and the provider must do educational training hours (plus CPR/first aid) each year to keep their registration. They also follow guidelines set forth by the state regarding the care of children.
Licensed homes are inspected more often than registered providers and also follow a state manual of regulations regarding child care.
Licensed providers are required to have advanced training and college credit hour courses in Early Childhood Education with additional training hours each year to keep their license. (Some licensed providers have degees or teacher certifications) They usually charge higher fees than registered or listed providers though that is not always the case.

You can also try searching online for the home day care association websites for more info on particular providers in your specific area.

Here are a couple of sites that may help you in your search:
www.providerwatch.com
www.childcarematch.com

Good Luck in your search!
