hi.
does anyone know exactly where the interstate is closed coming from NE crossing over into MO? I googled it and all i can see is a red line leading from Nebraska City NE to Rockport MO?
We are headed to Kansas City KS but know we need to take an alternate route.
I have called Hwy Patrol, but just get recordings and they are not real clear on what part of the interstate is closed.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

Try the Nebraska Department of Transportation:

We just took the detour a month ago.

You exit at Glenwood from I29 and follow HWY34 East to HWY59 South. You can take HWY59 all the way to Craig (just a little north of St. Jo on I29).

It adds about 30 minutes to your drive.

sorry - been trying to get a hold of my friend who lives in Savannah - to see what he says...he must be at church...

I would check with the DOT and the local sheriff's office or police department - they may be helping detour the traffic and can better assist you.

GOOD LUCK! Safe travels.

If you go to the MODOT website and click on the map that shows construction it should show you.

Do you know anyone who is a truck driver? If not go to a local truck stop and have a cup of coffee and talk to the waitress and ask if she knows a driver who can advise you. The drivers are usually quite friendly and will help out travelers with ideas and alternate routes.

I'm not sure either, but I keep hearing it's still closed. I know that from the people I've heard from there is like a 2 hour detour to go around. The Dept. of Transp. is a good suggestion. I'm surprised Hwy Patrol wasn't more helpful.

Another thought...you might want to check on MapQuest. I think sometimes they do change their maps according to road work, etc., but I'm not sure. It's worth a shot at least, and it's fast!
