I'm coming through Kansas City to go down to my Grandma's for Christmas this weekend. So... I'm assuming I-29 is up and running by now, but wanted to ask before any surprises.

Is it still one lane or is it back to normal?

Kinda a silly question but I know the flooding caused some damage so I'm just figuring on what to expect. :-) Thanks Mamas Happy Holidays!

What can I do next?

not familiar, but i am south of the metro, on the ks side. is that the highway that goes to omaha? my mom and sister went not long ago and there were large portions closed still - my uncle is a truck driver and got them around it. i did hear on the news that part of it (all?) had opened back up, but you should probably Google "i-29 flood damage" or something and i'm sure you can find out for sure. the website below is one i was trying to think of too :) good luck!

There is a short period that is one lane from Hamburg south or at least was at thanksgiving time. Otherwise good to go. So glad it reopened. It was taking us 4.5 hours to get to Omaha with that detour. You can't believe the damage from the flood. So sad.!

Yes it is fully open, and I travelled from KC to Omaha, two weeks ago. The scenery is so sad from the devastation. It looks like a gray desert, in a black and white movie, like that in "The Day After". In some places, you can still see some flood water.
