Hello Moms!
My 21 month old has had a lot of problems with diarrhea and generally being sickly all the time. She is very small and has a little bloated belly, other than that she seems fine. she has Had blood work done a few months ago that indiacted she is IGA deficient, so we switched her to soy and took her to an allergy doc who did some poke tests and found nothing. Needless to say they ran more blood work and I have a copy. I am waiting to hear back, but am a little anxious thats why I am on here.
It says her cd8-suppressor cytotoxic cells t cells are low, the cd4 cd8 ratio is high, the absolute cd8 + t cells are low, her igg23 and igg3 is high, and her platelets are high?
does anyone have ANY ideas????
Thanks for the input ladies!

What can I do next?

The company I work for sells the equipment that does this testing but I would NEVER feel comfortable giving ideas. I know you are waiting to hear back and are anxious, maybe you can reach out to them again for an explanation. I hate waiting. Best of luck!

The last thing you need are people pushing vitamins and supplements and guessing at what you've posted.
Keep calm, pray and wait to hear from the doctor. Take notes when you discuss this with them so you can refer to the notes later. Be prepared to jot down any & all information when you get the "call back"! Best of luck!

I understand being anxious and hoping for advice, but lab results are so complicated that they really can't be interpreted by anyone other than a trained health professional that knows your daughter's entire health history.
I have levels that are low and are high, but in the scheme of things, they are "normal" for me and not reason to be concerned about.

Whatever you do, don't look for information on the internet because it could scare the daylights out of you.
Make sure you have an appointment with the pediatrician to go over all of this.

Best wishes.

Yes, please let a competent and educated medical professional read and interpret the results for you. The last thing you need is some one who does not know your daughter's unique situation, let alone her health history, diagnosing her issues over the internet and 'prescribing' something that might make her issues even worse.

I don't think anyone here is capable of giving you an accurate answer for this type of technical question. I'm surprised they gave you these results before being able to interpret them for you. Are you able to talk with someone today?

From a quick "google" it looks like they are testing her immune system characteristics in several ways.

I don't have specific ideas but one thing I have learned to do is save a specific file for ALL our lab results. With my younger son it has been such a blessing - we are able to see more clearly when certain approaches are working (or not).

If it were me I would also consider working with a good integrative physician (ours is an MD). We did not make much progress on our son's immune issues with "mainstream" physicians. He is so healthy now he can run two miles in under 16 minutes, when he could hardly walk a mile previously (he is going for his black belt and the running is part of the training). We truly thank God for all the progress he has made.

Good luck and keep pressing for answers.

What kind of dr are you seeing now? An endocrinologist or gastroenterologist? A standard allergy test will not be sufficient when those numbers exist. We are in the same boat right now, with the IgA deficiency and several other numbers that are either low or high. We've been referred to both endocrinology and gastroenterology, and my child has a colonoscopy and intestinal biopsy scheduled soon.

I am not suggesting that your child's problems are the same as mine, but my child's doctor is thinking Celiac disease or another autoimmune disorder. But first you need to make sure you're not seeing a regular pediatrician, but a specialist, probably in gastroenterology.

Isn't it wonderful what support we each find on this site? Already several people with level heads -- terrific!

One add: when you review these with your child's doctor, ask someone to go with you. I've done this for a friend several times. It's just nice to have someone with you who can maybe ask the question you forgot to ask or even just to discuss what the doctor said after the appointment. If this second person can take notes so you can review later, so much the better!

My very best wishes for your child and for you. GL

has your doctor checked your daughter for celiac disease? I only ask because I had the same symptoms as a child (diarrhea and bloated belly) and was diagnosed with celiac. Just an idea for you.
