Dr Burned Me with Cautery?

I am 5 days post partum and had a tubal ligation done 1 day after delivery under general anesthia. When I woke up the dr said that he accidentally burned me somehow with the cautery but that he filled the hole (not sure with what, any ideas?) I was just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else before? I tried googling wound care because it wasn’t really part of my care so it’s not on my discharge paperwork. I plan to call and ask the dr specifically but I was hoping someone had some experience or advice with this.

What can I do next?

There was a very similar question recently. Please search for it.

Your questions need to go to your doctor. There's no way a woman immediately post partum should have to remember where a doctor admitted her "burned her" or what he "filled the hole with." If you don't know, you call him. Why wouldn't this info be in your after care if it occurred in the hospital? You don't google wound care. You get answers from the hospital and/or the doctor who have your records and who know you as a patient.

I'm sure the last think you feel like doing is getting a second opinion but certainly getting a written explanation of what happened iw within your or your husband's capacity to demand.

ETA: I re-read your question. Why in the world were you given general anesthesia for a simple tubal ligation? Decades ago, I worked in a reproductive health clinic and counseled women re TL procedures and even accompanied them during the operation. No one had general anesthesia - and I cannot imagine someone who had medical issues requiring GA deciding to undergo this 24 hours after delivery a baby! You need to get some much better medical advice, perhaps a new doctor, and perhaps a connection with a patient advocate/social worker.

it's unlikely you're going to find anyone else who's had this strange set of circumstances. even if you did it won't directly relate to your experience.

i can't imagine why you're not asking your doctor these questions.

if your tubes were cauterized it's not like you can get to 'em to do 'wound care.'

I find it awful that the doctor not only admitted to accidentally burning you, but made no effort to provide you with care and follow-up instructions to keep the wound from infection considering it is HIS fault you're in this predicament. I'd definitely be calling the doctor or the nurse and asking for proper follow-up instructions. He could get sued if you ended up having sepsis due to his negligence for not instructing you about keeping the wound clean. I would also ask what he used to fill the "hole" and what that hole is (sorry, I know nothing about tubal ligation), my point is, he should have gone over the entire procedure, what it entails, what instruments they use (staples, stitches, etc.) and explain the side effects as well as proper follow-up care until you heal and when you should call/visit the doctor.

Just wanted to chime in that I also had general anaesthesia to have my tubal ligation, as did my sister in law and every friend that I know who has had the procedure. I was 4 weeks post partum, which I understood to be the earliest you can have that done after a vaginal birth. Obviously different doctors and hospitals deal with this differently. You really need to call yours and get details on what happened during your surgery, because that sounds really suspicious.
