Do You Care? What Are Your Thoughts?

I saw on the news last night that Walt Disney World will now allow facial hair on their employees. I never knew it was a rule that they could not have any at all. I was amazed at how many people were upset by this. I do not see what the big deal is. One of the upset parents stated that this change will cause their child to be scared. Really?? It is just facial hair, and I'm sure it will have to stay groomed well. What about you do you care??

What can I do next?

Okay so WDW has mermaids, lions that talk, mad hatters, talking rabbits, all kinds of freaky sh*t.. but no facial hair on employees? Am I the only one laughing at this?! Not to mention all the perverted hidden images in the older movies! Anyone seen rescuers down under? Lol, totally ridiculous!

I don't care either way.

It's their WORLD though, and if they want to dictate how their employees look, then it's up to them. If you want a big grizzly beard, then maybe Walt Disney World isn't the right place for you to work? I dunno ;o)

Did you also know that employees who play characters are not allowed to wear their own underwear? There was actually a lawsuit over it because of spread of diseases. Yuck!

Disney has a GIANT image policy for ALL employees.
Most people are unaware of it.
Disney even has a policy & procedure for trash removal.
The outline what type of jewelry (hoops no bigger than a dime), hairstyles (natural color, tattoos (no visible tats allowed), etc.
NOTHING at Disney is left to chance.
It's all about creating the Disney Experience.
Google "Disney Look Book" for more info....
Here's O. quick look:

As for me, it wouldn't bother me either way, I can't see a beard or mustache scaring kids. But it's Disney's World and they can make their own rules, right?

Well, I understand that Disney has a clean cut image. And so I don't think it was crazy that they didn't allow facial hair, but I also think that it's ok for them to allow facial hair. I mean if your child is going to get scared by a goatee, perhaps you should keep him/her away from a giant mouse in pants.

That's bizarre! If you, as a parent, are deeply concerned about your child seeing people with facial hair, then I think there are some deep, deep problems afoot! If your child is scared of people with facial hair, then they clearly don't get out enough.

I was raised less than a mile from Disneyland in So Cal and practically grew up there! We would just hop on the bus and spend the day there as kids. Anyway, I know the intent was "wholesome" back in the day and now as long as its "reasonable", I don't see the big deal. And as far as kids being "scared", what do they do when they see men with beards and facial hair when they are out in public? That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Who cares? I doubt anyone is going to stop going or go more now. And I'm sure the employees are happy they can do what they want now.

Holy hell no!

In fact my kids find people with facial hair to be intriguing...because they themselves do not have any yet!

This is nuts! that they were not allowed to have it in the first place.....Talk about butting into peoples lives on a level that is none of Disney's say in the first place really.

I had no idea that was a rule. and now that I do it makes me rethink ever going back to any Disney park, store of movie again!

I am all for ''Looking'' presentable at work...but my office would never be allowed to tell me how to keep my body outside of dress and tattoo/piercing code. My body hair is my personal desire...facial or any other.

So do I care about them now be allowed to have it? HELL NO! I am happy they can be who they want to be, if that is what they want.

I DO care that it was a rule before now. And I will be looking into ALL of their policies....Because I WILL NOT support a business in any way shape or style that puts these types of limits around people.

My boycott list keeps growing. Here soon I will not be able to shop or go anywhere:) Not complaining. I just have to smile a bit to myself...The ''laws'' aka ''policies of messed up corrupt companies are appalling when you start to dig into what they stand for and do to their employees and the public....It is kinda sick how they FEEL they have the right to dictate stuff like that.

Off my box......thank you for the heads up though, really:)

My husband has a mustache. He is a sheriff and its so cute but his job requires it measures no longer than the corners of his mouth. He can wax it and make it curly but chooses not too. No awesome handlebars and no beards. But I think you would be supprised at how many jobs require no face hair. My adopted cousin (from China) was about 1 yr when we picked her up from the air port. She was terrified of all the men but not her younger brothers 12 and 8 yrs old. Then I noticed all the men had some sort of facial hair and asked if Chineese men wore facial hair. Not so much. So her new father shaved and that was the end of being scared! But non the less kids are scared of the strangest things I dont think we need to cater to there fears but walk them through it.

I don't really care.
Disney has an image that is squeaky clean for the most part and it's part of what makes them so popular.
A little facial hair, well groomed, is not going to destroy their image.
Children afraid of beards?
Granted, many small ones raise a ruckus when it comes time to meet Santa Claus but they do get over it.
Does this clear the way for long frazzled beards? - I don't think so.

I don't care either way...facial hair or no facial hair. However I do know quite a few toddlers that will not have anything to do with my husband because of his facial hair. So I get the no facial hair rule, but I have no preference. It's apart of the image they want to portray...

I read this in my local paper. Disney has many rules that people don't know about. I can understand where some parents would be upset. Some children are very afraid of men with facial hair. There are also adults that do not trust men with beards.

I don't think it will be a big deal, there are so many employees there and most of them the public never sees. It was just one of Walt’s rules, he liked the clean cut look.

Just an FYI for anyone going between June and October. They DO NOT close for hurricanes, my neighbor works there and they are open all the time rain or shine.

Well I think that no facial hair is just a clean-cut way to look, and some companies like that. I work for one of them. I work for a huge package delivery company, and our drivers have to be clean shaven, and their shoes have to be polished and shined too. In fact we have shoe polish stations all over the place. And all my bosses have razors in their desks. So I guess if WDW wants to implement that, more power to them. If the employee doesn't like it, they can always go work somewhere else. Now IMO, I am not really bothered by it, as long as it doesn't look scraggly. And my opinion of scraggly and someone elses, could be different. So I'm sure that's why they are doing that. People should be able to run their business the way THEY want to run them, and not what the general population thinks is right.

one word, ok two Zach Galifinakis... yeah thats scary.
Do I care? NO, would my kid be scared of a yeti in a clown suit. Nope, but I would be... I dont care one way or another about what whats on someone face, as long as its clean, contained, and not contagious. Sometimes rules are made by people that should not be making rules. Then someone wakes up and says "hey! we arent getting royalties from BIC or Venus... lets just say they dont have to shave anymore and we look like the "good" management" then they hive five one another for the good job they did, and sit back and wait for the employees to praise them.
About the underwear??? who's idea was it or I should say, who thinks some light cotton is going to stop ravaging, blood thirsty crabs from jumping into the suits? Or genital herpes virus from oozing onto material. Sorry but UNDERWEAR doesnt prevent spread. DUMB

I don't really care, but Iknow that some children who are not used to seeing or interacting with people with facial hair, can be frightened by it. It's because they can't see the person's face very well. I think it will depend on how MUCH facial hair and how it is groomed.
