Weirded Out by My Husband

My husband shaved his mustache and goatee last night for the first time in 15 years, I have never seen him without it, besides when he was like 12 and that doesnt count. He looks like a completely different person and its freaking me out! He doesnt look bad, although I prefer him with it, but I just cant get over how different he looks! I cant stop starring at him. He thinks I think hes ugly, I dont, I just feel weird about it. Will I ever get used to my "new" husband?! SO WEIRD!

What can I do next?

It is SO weird to see them without the 'stach /beard, etc. My husband just came downstairs O. day without his mustache and I about died. I screamed "WHY did you do that????" (Holy over react, right?) It takes a few days to "see" them normally again--it's like the upper lip looks weird or missing or something. Mine grew his back right away...ya think it was my reaction? LOL

LOL!!!!!!! My DAD did that, shaved the facial hair he had my entire life... so 20 years later, he shaved, and I was like OMG IT'S LIKE YOU'RE NAKED!! EYE BLEACH!!!!! It was SO weird. But then he grew it back out and I was okay... a little traumatized, but okay ;)

LOL! Yeah, you'll get used to him. My dad shaved his mustache after about 25 years of having one. Even HE didn't know what his own adult face looked like underneath there! It took all of us a good while to get used to it, but we did eventually. Now he's got a goatee & that's the best look for him by far.

ETA: I just remembered one time years ago when I left my house one morning with long, brunette hair & came home that afternoon with a pageboy cut filled with blonde highlights. My husband couldn't take his eyes off me and neither could my kids. It's not because they didn't like it, it was just so different they weren't used to it. My daughter did tell me I didn't even look like myself, but I didn't take it as an insult, that was what I had intended to do when I'd left!

Your too funny :-) WHAT made him do that after 15 years?
Just like when we color our hair a different color, or cut it shorter etc I. wonder if they are thinking ~Wow get to sleep w/ a "new woman" ;-)
This could be a Good thing for you guys ! LOL
Good part is it will grow back and probably very quickly !

I know exactly what you mean.
My husband originally grew a mustache (in college) to look older.
30 years later he hated the gray that was showing, didn't want to mess with dyeing it, so he shaved it off.
I MARRIED that mustache and he MURDERED it!
Initially I was devastated (silly, I know) and it took me a few weeks to get use to it, but I'm over it now and he's still as handsome as ever.
Give it some time!

My hubby grew a mustache ONCE and I couldn't kiss him...every time he leaned in it just looked like a different man was coming at me ;-) He shaved that nite.

My dad has ALWAYS changed his look. Sometimes he has a full Grizzly Adams beard, othertimes he has no facial hair, sometimes he has a Ned Flanders mustache, othertimes a Rhett Butler. Sometimes he grows his hair long and has even had a PERM (in his defense it was the 80s). I have no problem seeing my dad with all sorts of different looks, but I can only handle my hubby with 1 look ;-)

LOL I have to readjust every other freaking season! He grows out the goatee thing in winter and shaves in the summer. You'll get used to it soon. Love this question!

Edit: Manda Oh my goodness! I was laughing so hard!

Luckily, even facial hair grows back! This must be how THEY feel when we come home with a short hair cut for the first time!

I'm seriously dying laughing!! My husband is Hawaiian and therefore is not very hairy, even his facial hair is fair so when he grows something it's usually like a thin goatee or beard but I go through mini cases of this when we grow his hair out (hes normally shaven and it grows out so slow you don't realize) then he'll keep it long for about a month then BAM shaves his head and I find myself staring at him a lot then.. I can only imagine it being on his face!! I like it though, i always think it's sexy when he changes it up.

My husband is part Irish (he loves his heritage). Well somehow he has brown hair, brown eyes, but his bread grows out reddish brown (more red than brown. Well he likes to grow it out for Saint Patrick's day. I absolutely hate it!!!! I love a smooth face or maybe a lil stuble, but a full bread or mustach drives me up the wall and he knows it. :P I get use to him growing it out, but then really love looking at him when he shaves it all off.

My husband has had a thick blonde mustache for almost 20 years. He has shaved it 3 times in the last 15 years. Each time he has shaved it off I was a little weirded out the first day or two. I stare at him afterwards too. I tell him he isn't ugly, but it is like being married to someone different. And kisses feel different too, almost like someone else.

I like him shaved or with a mustache though. Luckily he is sexy with or without it.

My dad did this once. Wore a beard/mustache for decades and it looked really good on him. Especially since he was pretty much bald. Then he shaved it all off and ohmygoodness. It was really hard to get used to and although we didn't tell him directly, none of us liked it. He ended up growing it all back right away; I guess he wasn't too fond of his new look either :)

haha I remember ALWAYS seeing my Father with a mustache... then he shaved it off when I was 12, because it was becoming grey. I had a lot of moments of being confused, sometimes not recognizing him, etc... I can only imagine my Mom having the same situation LOL

I remember my father shaving off his moustache when I was in elementary school- mid 80's, so they were "out" by then. My sister (3 at the time) burst into tears and scooped the hairs out of the sink and begged him to "put it back" b/c it freaked her out so much!

We all got used to it and now he looks strange when he's not "clean shaven".

My husband will occassionally grow a beard- not a huge fan, but then again I met him "clean cut" so that's what I am used to!

I can totally understand. My dad went back n forth over the years and it always freaked the littlest ones out when he shaved it off!

I have never seen my husband without a mustache. The beard , (actualy goatee cause he cannot grow a full beard) used to be an off and on thing but has been on for ages. Here recently he trimmed down way too short and he looks weird to me right now.

The morning my husband ETS'd (ended time in service) from the military he didn't shave...and he hasn't shaved since.

I'd love for him to shave just once even because all of his grey hair is in his beard. Sure he has a few on his head, but you can't see it! I think he'd look so much younger!!

My hubby had sinus surgery for polyps and bled for days. He shaved his mustache and he has the most beautiful lips, they put Angelina Jolie's to shame. He grew his mustache to cover them up because people used to stare.

my husband did the same thing for halloween a couple of years ago, he went as Mario. He shaved his mustache the next day so it could all grow in together. I could not even look at him until it grew back. Even our daughter, who was about a year old at the time, seemed confused by Daddy.

My art professor did that in college. None of us recognized him, and his kids were scared of him. He had a receding chin, but his goatee was large, so it hid that. he just looked completely different. We did get used to it.

My dad had a beard for my entire childhood, except one year when he was in the army reserves and would shave it before going to the base a few times a year, it scared us kids a lot. Then when I was in high school he shaved for good and it changed his look a lot. Took a while to get used to it, a few weeks, but it does happen eventually. :)

I have discovered on my man I am a full-beard lover, recently he trimmed it short and I didn't like it at all, I would be very effected by his beard being gone.

Once when we were dating we were going to meet up at a friends' party. I was standing in this apartment looking for my guy and at the same time feeling stared at. After a while it was giving me the creeps and eventually I heard a familiar voice I turn around and this complete stranger had stolen my boyfriend's voice. The mustache was grown back before the wedding.

Then during the first year of our marriage after the nice beard had been grown, goatees were in amongst our friends and surprise, surprise I found one in my home, I asked the goatee to leave and never ever return to my home. We got a mustache back for a bit and then a beard back and it has been with us for decades. I don't like stubble kisses. I think the beard dyes is something I might suggest checking into, hadn't thought of that.

I never really thought about it, but I guess I like my men hairy.
