Diaper Question - New York,NY

So, LO is finally sleeping through the night *happy dance* - but now he is waking up soaked! Literally for 4 of the last 5 nights he wakes up with wet pjs and a diaper that is overflowing (pee only, thank God!).

Is this a sizing issue? he is currently 31", 23.5lbs and wearing Costco size 4 diapers? Should I move him up to a 5? or is there another diaper that someone recommends for overnight?

What can I do next?

Not a fan of generic diapers in general, personally, but when my kids started waking up soaked, I switched to Huggies Overnight diapers. Often, going a size up from their daytime size works too. My kids always needed a size up from daytime IN the overnights to stop soaking through.

Going up a size was the only thing that helped. We used Kirkland since my third was born because it was the only brand she didn't have allergic reactions to. She even reacted to the Huggies we had used for our other 2 kids. I hate Pampers because they smell so gross before you even put them on your child and they only smell worse when they are soiled. They leaked a lot more too.

I used generic diapers during the day, but my son would only make it through the night if we used Huggies overnights. Any other brand and he would be soaked.

Congrats on the sleeping!!

Yes, move up a size! Huggies has an overnite diaper that is very absorbent.

You can move him up a size or try pull ups. You can also change his diaper right before you go to bed. I put my daughter down around 7:30-8pm and I usually go to bed between 10pm-12am so I'll sneak into her room and check how bloated her diaper is before I retire for the night. If it's real swollen, I'll change it before I go to bed.

We use Pampers, because that's what has worked for our family. We use Cruisers. The day and Baby Dry overnight. When the nighttime starts to have any leaking issues, we move up to the next size in overnights. Our daughter is about the same size as your son and she's been in a 5 for quite awhile to keep leaking at bay with no problems.

Every time my kids started peeing through their diapers I solved it by moving up a size.

Huggies overnight diapers worked the best for my little girl. They are more expensive, but factor that against all the extra time and money doing the laundry, makes it so worth it.

I would try switching brands. In an effort to save some money, I went through just about every major generic diaper brand out there, and even from birth my daughter either soaked through or around them all. She did OK with Huggies, but they tended to leak up her back. Pampers was the only brand that never gave us any issues.

I would play around with brands a bit. Going up a size would probably help too.

I use the huggies overnights or the pampers baby dry, which are made for overnight. The huggies overnights are working best for us right now, with the baby dry about once a week his pjs would be wet in the back. My son is 18 lbs and wearing size 3 diapers.

Diapers don't work overnight. Get some overnight pull ups. Ours work great.

We get the ones with Disney or Pixar characters on them at Walmart.

We had this issue lately with my oldest son, who on top of waking up with wet sheets/pjs from time to time--would also on occasion have a totally dry pull up/diaper! *maddening!!*

As others have suggested already, I'd reccomend trying the Huggies overnights. I wasn't aware they even existed until I saw them mentioned on here, and since we've been buying them I haven't had a single issue thus far.

Another thing I've found to help with primarily belly sleepers (although it seems to help a little bit with my other son, who sleeps tummy up), is to put the diaper on a bit higher up on his waist before he goes to bed. Not so much to where it fits incorrectly or is on him all crazy--but just enough to add a bit of a safety net 'up front'.

P.S- before I could find the Huggies in stock in the size we needed, I found the generic brand of Walmart overnight diapers (parents choice I think..?) worked quite well. I've heard from a friend that the regular diapers aren't particularly good--but the ones specially marked as overnights worked quite well for DS in the meantime.
