Help! I am so tired of changing crib sheets every morning! (sometimes in the middle of the night). My sweet little 2 year old boy must pee pee all night long because every morning he and his bed are soaked! He is currently wearing Pampers cruisers, but they do not seem to be doing the job! Any suggestions on a better diaper? Thanks for yout time!

What can I do next?

Hi M.- I had the same problem with my son. I used huggues and pampers forever and they leaked. I got some Luvs with bear hug streatch on accident and they have worked wonderfully. I am going to stick with them, no more leaks or wet sheats at night! You may want to give them a try and they are less expensive.

I love the Costco brand (Kirkland, I think?)--they have a super-tall waistband, and hold just about anything my two can dish out. Sometimes I'll go 1 size up, if the kid is close to the next size, because you can still make it fit without gapping, and the extra size has more room to absorb. Good luck!!

In my opinion pampers are the best.So i would try maybe putting a pull up on over it or put on two diapers also walmart and babiesrus and target have waterproof pads you can lay under them that might help the sheets a little.there are also plastic pnts might help.

We had this problem too on and off with my son. First and foremost, make sure his pee pee is pointing down when you put the diaper on. This advice came from my pediatrician after going thru every single sleeper and blanket he had one nite. Then either use the next size up diaper or start using the overnites. I don't think pampers makes an overnite, but huggies does. If your son is in a size 3 or 4 cruiser, bump him up the next size for nightime.

That's what we did and it worked. Good luck!!!

The best thing i found was move him up a diaper size. They also make sheet savers that i used all the time. You can get them at babies r us or walmart, and I'm sure they are at Target also. The ones at walmart were different sized in one pack, i took the big one and cut it up in to smaller pieces.

Some advice a friend gave me before my 1st child was born has been a big help to me. She told me to put many crib sheets on the bed, with waterproof pads between each, so that when the crib sheet needs change you can just pull the top layer off. At least this reduces the frequency of having to tackle that crib mattress.
About the diapers...what about trying the next size up for nightime hours. If you decide to try different diapers, hang on to your reciept, as you can return them to the store if they don't work for your child. I have done this several times, and I have never had a problem.
Hope this helps.~K.

This might sound simple, but try the next size of diapers. I found with my little one that she went through her diaper when she started to weight near the cut off of the diaper. Put her in the next size and then no more messes.

I personelly use pampers, too. I haven't had those kind of problems with those diapers before. Maybe you can try one size bigger in pampers. Powder might help, too. You could buy some of those vinyl underwear to put over his diaper at night. My mom had bought my son some of the kind that don't have a lining in them, they just go right over the training underwear. As for a different kind of diaper I couldn't really give any suggestions, because I am stuck on pampers. Although, when you buy diapers, I would buy two small packs that are different kinds of diapers, and I would keep doing that until you find the kind you like. I have tried LUVS and Huggies before and I can't tell you it seems that LUVS runs smaller. My grandmother always used to line my diaper with those really thick, soft paper towels to help with diaper rash. That might help, too. Good Luck!

Hi M.,

I went through the series of diapers myself (Huggies, Pampers, store brands, etc). The ones I found to be most effective were LUVS. They used to offer a 100% guarantee of no leaks.

Also, it could be time to move up one size. It's helps tremendously. Hope this helps! Best Wishes!

My experience with my son was that every time he started soaking through his diapers, I would go up to the next size diaper at night and that always seemed to solve the problem. Also, we used night time diapers that are more absorbant. Another option is to add a diaper doubler into his diaper to soak up some of the excess urine.

I always use huggies, my daughter is sometimes soaked in the morning, but they usually hold. I tried Luvs once and they leaked after a few hrs. I have never used Pampers. The walmart brand of white cloud is pretty good as well. Also, when my daughters diapers continued to leak every night, I realized that I need to move her up to the next size diaper and then they didn't leak.

I have a nine week old but I was having the same problem. I got some "diaper doublers" from Babies R Us. It is a pad that you put inside the diaper. It seems to help. I have noticed that you might need a bigger diaper though because it adds a lot of bulk. Also, have you tried the Huggies Overnights? I have heard good things about them, although to be honest, I am not impressed wtih the regular Huggies. Good luck!

Try the Huggies Night time diapers. I've seen them at Walmart, but you can't buy them in bulk, which means they're a little more expensive than regular diapers. They worked for my 2.5 yr. old son who was having the same problem. Now that he's potty trained, except at night, we moved on to the Huggies Night time Pull-Ups- they too offer a little more absorbancy than regular Pull-Ups. Good luck!

My daughter is 2 also and I have much better luck with huggies. Also, make sure he's in size 6. I would have the same problem every time my kids were ready to switch to the next size bigger. If that still doesn't work, try a pull up or "good nights" that are for older kids who still need the protection but can't fit into diapers. Good luck!

Hi M.!

I posted a simular question a few weeks ago. I also have a 2 yr old DD who has the same problem. We are in the process of potty training her, so she's been in Huggies Pull-ups for quite some time now. but the pull-ups were not doing the job during night time. She would leak through clothes, sheets, etc. It became a nightmare. So, most moms on here suggested Huggies overnights. I went out immediatly at purchased some. THEY WORK AWESOME!!!!!! They are the best and work like a charm. No leaks, no problems so far. I suggest these over any night time diaper brand. Try them....Good Luck, I know exactley how you feel.

B.

UPDATE: I noticed another mother sugessting Huggies overnights as well. They do have the overnights in SZ 5 by the way....Just thought I'd let you know....

Try a night time diaper. I think Huggies and Pampers both make them. They absorb a lot more than a regular diaper.

I had that problem with my 2.5 yo. I switched to huggies overnights and they seem to hold it in. Also, don't change crib sheets - there are alot easier methods. One is The Ulitmate crib sheet that goes on top of her sheets and snaps to the crib. So you can just take it off in the middle of the night and the crib sheets will still be there.

We had the same problem with our two year old. We use Huggies Overnight pullups. And when I know we haven't cut off the drinking early enough, we put on the overnight pull up AND boxers. I can't remember the name of the boxers but they are diapers that look just like men's underwear. The "boxer" part is made of the same stuff as the pullups and they are very absorbant. The boxers alone are a little too big so they leak on their own, but paired with the pullups we don't have a problem. I got the boxers at Kroger (and maybe at wal-mart?). good luck.

Huggies makes a night time diaper called "Goodnights." They hold more & helps keep the baby 'feeling' dry. Boys hold more up front so if he's sleeping on his stomach its going to spill over. I used to wake up in the middle of the night to change my baby boy but these diapers soved that problem!

Have you tried "night diapers"? That is what I use for my 27 mos. old who did the same thing at night. We used reg. diapers during the day (but are now in "big girl panties") and night diapers at night. I think they were made by Huggies. They are more expensive, but well worth it not having to change sheets, change pjs, and all the hastle of changing and laundry.

As for Pampers in general, I tried them and thought they were not near as absorbant as other diapers in the later stages of diaper-wearing and they were more expensive. We had great luck with the Parent's Choice diapers at Wal-Mart. I found Huggies and Luv's didn't absorb much and were more expensive and leaked since they didn't absorb. And I changed my kids diapers often so leaks shouln't have been a prob. but on the first "potty break", it would just seem to sometimes roll of the absorbant core, out the sides, and onto their pants!

Your other option may be to go up a size at night, more room to absorb wetness!

Best of luck!

You REALLY need to go to an overnight diaper. I loke the Huggies overnights for nighttime if they are still in diapers. if they are in pull ups, then do the goodnights pull ups. We now use the Curity brand youth sleep pants for our 19 month old and 3.5 year old and they wear the same size Medium in the curity youth sleep pants because they are pretty adjustible so your 2 year old would wear that size as well. I get them online specifically from Ebay and I think they work better than any other brand of PULL UP over night but as far as the over night diaper I thought the huggies overnights worked great.

Good luck-

I have a 19 month old little boy whose diaper was leaking at night, but it wasn't due to a full diaper. I realized that his diaper leaked when I put him to bed in a one piece sleeper outfit. I also realized that he hiked his leg up on the crib slats during his sleep. It dawned on me that the pee was coming out from the side of his diaper. I tried different diaper sizes and brands; it didn't make a difference. If I dressed him in a two piece pajama set where the pants fit closer to his body, this problem didn't happen; however, I had a problem with him taking his socks off at night and his feet would get cold....that's why I use a one piece sleeper outfit. Anyway, I now put cotton underware over his diaper to help keep the diaper closer to his body. This has prevented pee from shooting out from the sides of his diaper. No more wet crib sheets and no more wet pajamas! Good Luck!

When my first child was born I received several packages of diapers (different brands) as gifts. It gave me a great opportunity to figure out which brand worked best for us - which happens to be Huggies.
You just need to try different brands until you find one that works.

You might try asking any of your friends (whose children wear the same size diaper) if you can have a couple of their diapers to try - provided it's a different brand. If you don't have friends with diapers - then maybe try at your church nursery - most nurseries have some diapers they keep in stock for parents who forget diaper bags. Just ask what brand(s) the have and ask if you could trade some of yours for the different brands.
If you explain your situation I'm sure they would be more than willing to help.

My sister had the same issue with her son. She went through many brands until she found the generic Albertson's brand did the job.
All children are shaped differently. You just have to find the diaper that fits him just right.

I hope this works and if you try it let me know!!! oh and i used the baby washcloths.

Also, when my son was little, they had something called Diaper-doublers, a strip of disposable diaper you could line the pamper with. They were great but I don't know if they still exist. If not, you could get some cloth diapers and fold one and line the pamper with it. Better to wash diapers than sheets?

You can try Diaper Doubler from Safeway(Tom Thumb), overniters or Safeway brand sleepers.

We use Huggies Overnights for our son. They work great for us. Plus we get one size bigger than his daytime diapers. If you are still having problems, you can add a maxi pad into the diaper. Cheap and simple and added absorbancy.

Good Luck!

I have raised 2 boys and am now raising a little girl (also 2)
When it comes to diapers....I have used them all. Cloth, disposal. And have tried numerous brands, and I have found that there are only 2 kinds that I trust. If you can afford it, Huggies are the best !!! If those are to much for your budget....and sometimes they can be, you might wanna try White Cloud Supreme (in the purple and white packaging) Of the ones I have used these are the 2 brands that have never failed me.
I understand about the sheet changings, that alone can be frustrating in itself, much less the fact that the little one has been sleeping in a wet diaper. Our little ones deserve the best we can give them, and I think these are the best choices for active little ones. I would, and have reccomended them numerous times over. Give them a try, and see what ya think. You'll find the little one much happier too !!

The only things that has ever worked with my three children is Huggies. I am writing mainly to repond about you having to change crib sheet so much, because it is a royal pain. I have learned to layer my sheets when I change them. I use the flat mattress pads in between sheets, and put four or five sets on at a time. That way when they get wet, all I have to do is pull the top one off. It is really nice when things get wet in the middle of the night.

I use the goodnights diaper for my little boy. We've been using them for a while now. Only for bed time, because they are more expensive than his regular diapers. I think it's just boys, but I got so sick of changing the sheets constantly. I also stop his drink intake 1 hour before bed time. We will be starting potty training pretty seriously once I deliver the new addition in April.
I know how you feel about changing crib sheets, my husband thought we should just buy more sheets instead of trying a different diaper. My sons ped. recommended these diapers.
Good Luck!
I'm not sure if they are by Pampers, but they are called Good Nights, they look like a pull up but they work great.

Hi M.,
I'm also a BIG fan of Huggies. I've used the Huggies Overnights, Supremes, and the Natural fit Huggies. All of them have worked really good for nightime. In fact, my 2 yr old has never leaked out of his diapers and they are pretty full in the mornings.
I would still be using the overnights but the largest size stops at 4 and my son is in a 5.
Good Luck!

We were having the same problems with my 21 mo. old little girl and we tried to limit her fluid intake close to bedtime, but that wasn't really an option. She would constantly ask for "juice pwwweeeaaasseee". My in-laws are staying with us and they discovered Huggies overnight diapers at Wal-mart. They sell them in big kid sizes (I think 5 and up), and they work great. No more leaks for us.

Hope this helps.

My boys did that too! It was always a sign to move up a size in diapers. If that doesn't help, you can always get those flat mattress protectors and layer the sheets on top. When you need to change the sheets, you just pull the top sheet and the mattress protector out and you have a new clean bed.

Two suggestions:

One, don't give him anything to drink after 6 or 7 p.m., depending on his bed time.

Two, try Luvs diapers. They're a little cheaper, and a lot better, IMO.

I have never liked Pampers.... I use Huggies...not the supreme ones. Has your son started going potty on the toilet yet? If so, you may want to get him up before you go to bed and have him go, therefore less for him to fill in his diaper. If not, maybe try changing him even if he's already asleep before you go to bed. Also, decreasing his liquids in the evening. There's also "Nighttime" diapers out there that they say are more absobant for the overnights.

Good luck, hope this helps.

There is a company called "Diapers In-Decision" that puts together test packages to try out the many diaper options out there. It is inexpensive, like $15 I believe and they give you like 8 brands and several diapers of each brand. It was a good solution for us. Let me know if you are interested and I will find the info for them.

I started using Huggies Overnights with my 2 year old when he started leaking in his bed overnight, and they have worked wonderfully. I've been through like 4 packages now...and he may have leaked maybe....3 nights? They aren't cheap...but I usually have $1.50 off coupons to use, and get them at Wal-Mart. Just bought a package yesterday, for $18.54 (in Burleson). Maybe they are cheaper elsewhere? Then took $1.50 off of that.

Hi Mistie,

I feel your frustration. I did not like having to change sheets all the time. The huggies overnights worked great for my little boy. I would buy two sizes, your normal size and the next bigger to see which fits better. I think pull-ups also make a night time diaper. See if you can get your little one to sit on the potty before bedtime. That might help him empty his bladder.

I hope you find relief.

Hi M.,
I am a proud grandmother of a very active 19mth old grandson.
My Daughter in law and I both recommend Luvs. They hold a lot of pee pee. My dauther in law will usually put a Luvs diaper on around 10 pm and when he gets up in the morning he will be extremely wet but not the sheet or blankets. I used Luvs on my son when he was a baby. Give it a try. Maybe someone you know will have some to give to you to try. Good Luck

We have the same problems - what we've done that works, is to silently go in every night around 11pm or so and change their diaper. Sometimes they wake up but they're used to us going in there and doing it now...and don't fuss about it at all.

Another tip is to just wear a diaper 1-2 sizes up at night.
