Hi there moms:) I have twins that will be 6 in feb please tell me things get easier as they get older lol! Well I thought that it might but it seems to be the opposite. They are def easier as far as being independent, no diapers, no extra clothes, they can buckle thmeselves all these things and many more have gotten easier but as far as the attitudes lord help me!!! There are obviously days that are great but my oh my my daugher for one is the biggest drama queen when it is time to get dressed she chages her mind all the time of what to wear but i fig that out i just leave her in the room and let her fig it out for herself! But she can be sooo snotty especially when she gets tired im not kidding almost seems like she turns into a demon not to be mean but she laughs crazy like she is possed and it doesnt matter what you do to discipline her she doesnt seem to care doesnt want to listen. So i just put her in her room and at times when he behavior is soo bad i have spanked her butt which i hate to do but nothing else seems to matter. And then the next min shes as sweet as can be! And now my son hes pretty good besides the tattling constantly on his sister and the fighing never seems to stop. But he is in the stage now if things dont go right its not fair your the meanest parents ever uughhh! I love my kids to death and would never change the fact that im very fortunate that i have been able to be a stay at home mom to them but some days get soooo long i do work casual and believe me its a vacation:) its good for them to. they need a break from me:) but any sugg commments??? is this a stage? One other thing they will be in first grade next year do i split them??? they say they want to stay together?? torn bout this decision? Sorry this was more of a venting situation i aplologize to ramble on its just sooo nice to hear other moms say this is normal:)

Thanks Ladies:)

I have a no fighting rule. If they are fighting, separate them immediately. It is rare that I actually have to separate my kids because they know if I say to stop fighting I mean it.
You could also tell them if they have enough time to fight then they have enough time to help you clean. Have one empty trash cans and the other dust. Believe me, they will stop fighting :)

M.,

Be calm, consistent and firm on what you are ok with vs what you are willing to loosen the reins on. As far as spanking, I would stop. I put up a behavior chart for my kids and it works well. Its based on colors like their school chart and they really try to do their best. It could help you! As for next year in 1st grade, yes put them in separate classes. That way they will learn their independence from each other and have their own friend etc. instead of always being _____'s twin/brother etc. It will do wonders for their self esteem-- Good Luck!

Go to the library and check out some books on child development.
Not parenting or discipline, just development.
It will give you perspective on what is "normal" which will help you in terms of what you can/should expect.

This all sounds very age appropriate to me - JUST like my 6yr old. Regarding the separation the school will most likely separate them - PERIOD.

The only way they would be in the same class is if there was only one. At my son's school it is Bi Lingual so we have a Sp 1st grade and an Eng 1st grade - that's it - if I had twins they would be in the same class by default just like there is only 1 Eng K, but 3 Sp K classes. So, unless your school is set up like mine they will be separated.
