I know that there was a question about this a while back and I read some ideas to try........but I can not find or remember them now. So when I shave my bikin area I get horrible bumps/rash and seem to have a big problem with ingrown hairs. Any suggestions or something that you use that works?

Thanks so much! S.

Hi S.,

I actually agree with Kristina B with the Coochy cream. I own a company called Slumber Parties and I sell Coochy cream and it's awesome. It's a rash free shave cream that helps with the red bumps and ingrown hairs. It's scent free so it's good even if you have sensitive skin. You can visit my website at www.SlumberPartiesByBrittanyHerndon.com to view a full discription. You can also order it directly from the website and it will ship right to your house. It's actually only $10.50 for the bottle and the bottle lasts a long time.

Hope this helps.

B.

I use conditioner instead of shaving lotion. It's cheaper, and my skin stays soft. Just a little bit goes a looooong way.

Use an acne wash or something with salycic acid in it when you are done, it will basically cleanse, sterilize and help close the pores. I'm sure you know the obvious of: use a new razonr and only go with the hair, never against. Have you tried razorless gels or waxing? Sometimes easier for sensitive skin.

Here are some tips, it may have to be trail and error with a few things.
Exfoliate with a gentle scrub, Shave at the end of your shower. Get a good quality razor and shaving cream.

After you are done, pat that area down to dry to avoid any more friction. Afterwards try applying plain nonscented deodorant, like Dove. Also witch hazel with a bit of tea tree oil or lavender oil added to it. There is a few products you can buy like Bikini Zone ( I didn't think this worked) Tend Skin-it's pretty expensive.
Also others swear by a product called Coochie Cream-it's a shaving cream. Again a bit pricey but they say it's worth it. You can buy the last two products on Amazon.com

Washing the area before AND after shaving with an antibacterial soap has really made a big difference for me.

Whenever I shave, even just my legs, I do the same thing. My gyn once saw what had happened and told me to just use Hydrocortisone 1% cream immediately after shaving.
I tried it once and it's never let me down. I buy the over the counter equate brand at walmart and it works just fine. Not sure it will for you but its a cheap try. Good luck!
