Pregnancy Razor Burn...ahhhh!

When I am pregnant, I can't seem to shave around my bikini line because I have constant razor burn. Now, I am sure it is my hormones..blah, blah, blah (sick of my hormones already!), but I am looking for something to help me out (it's Summer!). I have already tried two products from Bath and Body Works, but had no luck. Can anyone out there give me any advise? Thanks!

What can I do next?

try using invisible deoderant, it keeps the bacteria down and from what ive herd is how dancers/strippers deal with it. I know that it seems to work for me, but I dont know about the strippers lol

Hi There, my favorite way to 'shave' my bikini area is to use my husband's beard trimmer (or the 'clipper' part of his shaver). I know this may sound strange! But, while it's not as close as a razor shave, it's close enough and it does not cause any burn or rash.

Good Luck!

I found that Pure Romance has a shaving cream called Coochy (yes coochy)and it works. Everyone I know swears by it. My daughter and I both use it for our bikini lines and no razor rash at all. I believe you can go to their website www.pureromance.com to order it. Hope it all goes well and congrats on your baby #3

My solution is to wear a swimsuit with either little boy shorts or a skirt!

saw your responses and thought I'd let you know the coochy cream does help but still only about 50 percent I still got razor burn. It's a pregnant thing. I try to just shave a little less often. Like if your the only one in your back yard don't shave that day save it for a day that counts. That's all I got maybe someone else knows a cure if so pass it on. lol.

Waxing is an alternative...you will pay about $30, but it will last ~3 weeks if not longer. One or two times and you will thru bathing suit season :)

Try using lotion. It's a little messy and takes a while to wash off properly, but it'll help immensely with razor burn and help your skin stay soft and hydrated.

T.,

Be very careful using any product down there especially if your skin is already sensitive. You could have bad reaction to them. I was using them for a while because I'm allergic to shaving. After using shaving removal products for awhile I started to have a reaction to them.

There is a product that you can get at just about any store (I get mine at Rite Aid) called Bikini Zone that is specifically for that area, it helps with razor burn and razor bumps. You can also try using a slightly dull razor, a new razor also gets some of the skin no matter how careful you are and are more likely to get razor burn in sensitive areas with a fresh razor.

after you shave immediately put baby oil on the area. it may take a few times for the razor burn to completely stop but it will become less and less with every application. it also helps stop itching.

Hi T.,

I am with the other ladies that have recommended the Coochy through Pure Romance. I am a Pure Romance Consultant and will tell you what it can do for you. I did use this product through all of my pregnancies before becoming a consultant.

Coochy is a rash free shave cream that is formulated to soften the hair follicles and helps reduces the red rashy bumps ... also try shaving down and in vs. up and out, that should also help. If there is anything else you would like to know I would be happy to help ...

As for the person that said it's a hair conditioner ... it can be used as a deep hair conditioner, but was designed as a shave cream

Best of luck to you

from what I recall, the ladies at the spa wouldn't wax my bikini area when I was pregnant because the blood flow is so greatly increased in that area that a bleed is much more likely to occur. So, I would avoid waxing. You might try applying a skin toner to the shaved area to balance the pH of the skin and soothe any irritation. Witch Hazel is a good and inexpensive toner. That bikini zone stuff works pretty good, but I think that the active ingredient is salicylic acid (an acne medicine) so I'm not sure if you want that coursing through your blood regularly while you are pregnant - it is a form of aspirin (see http://chemistry.about.com/od/demonstrationsexperiments/s...) - which you aren't supposed to take when pregnant. I don't know what the active ingredient is in Coochy so I can't comment on that.

Try plain old Dial soap. The one without any perfumy scents. I use it and it is awesome for preventing razor bumps and razor rash. Hang in there!

and try finding lotions and creams that don't contain alcohol (most of them do). those products will dry your skin out and make razor burn worse and more consistant.

The product Coochy from Pure Romance works great. I think it's pretty much hair conditioner, so take the advise from the last poster.
