Bikini Line Bumps-- What Do I Do?

Since I had my son, I have skin that is slightly stretched and sagging in my belly, groin and thighs. It's unsightly, but part of nature and I'm okay with it(on most days!).

PROBLEM is.... now when I shave my bikini line, it leaves these HUGE irritated bumps all over from the skin sagging that are so ugly and highly visible! I've tried getting swim skirts, but would feel a lot better if they were just not there!! I start mommy/tot swim class with my son on Friday, and don't want to have this!

I know they make products to help with this... any suggestions??

Thanks!

Same problem as you and many people! I haven't tried Bikini zone or any of the other products but now I will try. One other suggestion: BUy Venus Embrace shavers! Love them!! I have dark, coarse hair and would always get bumps wherever I shave but with this razor - done. They are quite expensive but well worth it for this situation. Good luck!

Instead of shaving, try Nair 4 minute hair remover (roll on in a pink container). You apply it, wait 4 -5 minutes and wipe the area clean.
You can also use bikini zone afterwards.

The Bikini Zone creme works great too. I used to have horrible bumps and this stuff works awesome. Unfortunately, I've always had to shave the bikini area unless I keep up with waxing.

You can find it in drugstores or shaving supplies aisle at
Targe, WalMart, etc.

Good luck!

Like pp said, shave with the direction of hair, not against it, and make sure you have a fresh, sharp razor.

I second the Tendskin. You can get it at Sephora. (I have to use this even with waxing.)

Try Bikini Zone creme...you can buy it at Target, WalMart, any pharmacy..its usually in the same aisle as the shaving products. Its great at keeping that nasty shaving burn/bumps away. It works so great my husband uses it on his neck after he shaves!! :0)

This happened to me almost 15 years ago and I found an easy solution.

I shave with the grain, not against.

In other words, your hair lays down a certain direction. You must shave going in the direction it lays down. If I'd shave the opposite direction to get a closer shave, I'd suddenly have a ton of bumps everywhere and it would be sore and irritated.

It never happened until after my baby was born - and it seems odd, but my recommendation is to let the current bumps calm down (don't shave for a while until they aren't as vivid and irritated), then try shaving the same direction your hair is laying.

Also, I only use non-scented soap. I soap really well and am sure to shave very "wet" so I don't get dry rash. I also make sure to follow up every shaving with a non-perfumed lotion.

I now have beautiful skin where I shave!

Again - the secret is in making sure your skin is back to normal before you start this technique or the rash will continue.

Good luck to you!

Hi, C.. There's a WONDERFUL product called TendSkin that my aesthetist told me to get back in the glory days when I could afford (and had time for) my monthly waxing appointment. You use it every day and it basically keeps the skin conditioned so that the razor doesn't irritate your skin. You can buy it online or at most spas where they do waxing. Hope this helps!

Tend Skin. Works great for both shaving and waxing, for men and women, for the red bumps, and also for ingrown hairs. You can probably get it off the web, but I get it at Toujours on Clark in Andersonville. In a pinch, you can also get it downtown at Macy's in the Kiva Salon, but it's more expensive there. I wax, so I use it every day for about 2 weeks after waxing, and it's made a huge difference. My husband uses it right after shaving and he no longer gets bumps at all.

I would let it grow a little and then go get waxed. Waxing leaves you red for a day or so but then is good for many weeks. I always found shaving gave me bumps no matter what I used.

I wax myself... I use Parissa cold wax from Ulta on recommendation of an employee there 3 years ago. If you can cringe and pull and bear it, you can save yourself a ton of money from going to a salon. Between waxes, I use swim shorts over my swimsuit that I bought at Macy's.
If you want to keep shaving, Tendskin is great.
Good luck... I may spring for lazer hair removal this winter though...(when they have specials)

You can use a few drops of Visine on the bumps. Works a lot like the Bikini Zone type of products.

I used to have this problem all the time, now, everytime I shave, I use neosporin, or even just vasoline. To heal what you have, use neosporin...to keep them away, try vasoline. :)

I have had this problem myself. I use this product http://www.bikinizone.com/ and have never looked back. It gets rid of virtually all my problem areas. Waxing also helps, if you have the time and money. I have tried waxing at home but it was sort of a joke for me! Didn't turn out well...OUCH!!

The same thing happened to me with my son. Unfortunately, my son is almost 2 and it hasn't gone away. I have started getting it waxed and it's not that bad, really! Plus, you feel so smooth for so much longer. You might have some bumps the first time or two, but it's worth it after that.

If waxing isn't how you want to go try using an exfoliator before you shave and use a gel instead of cream. Also, stay in the warm water for a few minutes so your pores are open. I tried all these and it never made a difference, that's why I went to waxing. I have a great waxer in the Naperville/Aurora area!

Good luck!

Hi, C.. Have you ever heard of Coochie shave cream? I know it's sold at places like Lover's Lane and Priscilla's. I'm a romance party consultant with For Your Pleasure, and we sell it, too. Well, through FYP I also found that Coochie also makes an aftershave spray. You can go to Lover's Lane or Priscilla's to buy it if they have it, or you can visit my online store if you prefer (www.foryourpleasure.net/michelle418; if that's too much to remember, just go to www.spiceglamup.com and click on the link to FYP and then to shop my FYP store). If you shop at my store, you don't have to worry about me being all up in your business with what you bought. The company doesn't email me any descriptions of what customers purchase on my site - it's confidential. That is specifically manufactured for the bikini area. If you don't want to use Coochie, then try anything with aloe or vitamins A and E. That might do the trick! Good luck!

Try either an otc cortisone or Eucerin calming cream right after you shave. I have had skin issues since I was born, so after 31 yrs. I have tried many products. If that does not work try an ice pack (the ones made for kids are great), then try the cream. Good Luck!
