Good LucK!
Hi,
I am in a dilema. I am hosting a baby shower for a friend of mine and she is adament that she does not want a cake from the local grocery store a homemade cake or Costco. I have priced them from the bakeries she requested but they are running upwards of $60-$65. Since there will be a about 50 people my budget is a little tight. I want to do a nice job but want to be sure money is spent on food and beverages to accomodate. Any ideas on where I can get a reasonably priced cake.
HI!
Just to let everyone know that we hosted the shower a few weeks ago...It was a success. The cake was beautiful from the bakery she wanted. It was actually paid for by her Mom so it worked out well. Thanks for the advice! I appreciated it very much

Good LucK!
Costco is the best....she seems a bit picky and ungrateful. Get the cake that works for you.
I agree with all the posts here. You're going out of your way to throw a shower for a person who seems to be ungrateful -- perhaps it's the hormones?...
Anyway, Costco cakes are by far the best. And Deerfield bakery is wonderful too. I agree with seeing about a few donations from her mom, aunts, etc for some financial help.
Another option might be cupcakes or crispy cream donuts. They'll be less expensive than a bakery cake, a bit unique and you can arrange them in anyway you like on a pretty platter or multi-tiered dessert plate.
Then again, you could always ask her where she'd like you to get the cake. When she tells you, tell her you'd be happy to place the order and arrange for pick up but the bill will be her's. That's some nerve!!
Keep us posted on what you decide to do.
Wow thats kind of a serious request and I LOVE the cakes from Costco as well I never buy from anywhere else and they always feed plenty you can have them decorate them special...my 2nd choice would be jewel for cakes :) Good luck see if you can talk to any of her family for help if not reasoning with her:)

That's rude! She should be thrilled your throwing her a shower at all! Buy it from wherever you want and just make sure it's out of the packaging before she arrives, she'll never know the difference. When she tells you how yummy/pretty it is THEN tell her it's a grocery store cake. I never had it but I hear RAVE reviews about Sam's club cakes too!
Honey, don't worry about getting a reasonably priced cake, work on getting a reasonable friend!!
Wow. Are you serious? Can you talk to the grandmothers to be and maybe they can help pay for it? Especially her mother?
The cakes from Costco are SO GOOD. What is her concern? If price wasn't even an option, I'd choose a Costco cake hands down.
Good luck with this one.
Yes, I agree that that is rude! She shouldn't say anything, but be gracious instead! The cakes from Costco are great.
I have an idea for decorating, though. For my sister's baby shower, we got a Jewel cake with the sonogram picture transferred on it! I though it was really cute!
Good luck!
I think she should pay for the cake since she is being so picky about where it comes from.
I would definately go with Meijer. They have the best cakes and it is very reasonable. Give them a call.
