The young lady at the Kroger on S. Story made my son the most amazing Diego cake...everyone was amazed that it was from a store bakery.
my baby's first birthday is Oct 23 and I am looking for someone to make her cake.

I hate to say it but Sam's has the best cakes.. and I could never go wrong with the bakery in the Sam's off McArthur. and they are reasonably priced... always fresh. As for as a bakery there is one off beltline across from the mall in the same shopping center with Hooter's. I have heard they have great cakes. It's called the Art of Bakery or something like that..
Good Luck!
Call Deserts By Marcie! ###-###-#### She makes great theme cakes too. I saw a "Mad Hatter" (ALice In Wonderland) cake that she made. It was fabulous.

Depends if you are getting a cake for your child or if you are having a party with a lot of adults and want to have the cake for them. If it is for your child, the grocery stores (Kroger and Tom Thumb) make good cakes and will also give you a baby's cake (a separate cake that she can play in with her fingers and just make a mess....for the fun pictures to keep).
If you are looking for a decorative cake and it will be to serve to adults, then I would suggest a specialty cake shop. There is one in Plano (North Dallas Tollway and Park Blvd. in front of the Super Target) called Elizabeth's cakes. Their cakes are exquisite and always get rave reviews.
Desserts by Marcie is great. Her shop is behind the CVS on Rochelle & O'Connor. I've used her for a birthday cake & a chocolate chip cookie cake & both were wonderful. Both times I brought in the invitation & she matched it. Her prices are reasonable, too. Good luck!
