I went to an event last year where they had a large sheet cake for the whole audience to enjoy. It was so tasty, I went and asked where it was from and they said, "Sam's Club!"
Very, very good cake.
It will be a baptism party for my nine years old daughter. Does anyone know a reasonably-priced/cheap bakeries here in Chicago or nearby that makes beautiful and yet delicious cakes? If so, about how much will it cost for a cake for 100 people? Any suggestions?

Try The Sweet Connection if you want something fancy with filling. You can get a cake for 100 people for about $80. Otherwise, Costco or Dominicks has good cakes too. Sweet Connection is located on Northwest Hwy in Chicago. Good Luck!!!
If you need economoical, Costco is a great choice, but decorating options are limited. If you can spend more, I can't say enough about Sweet Honeybee on Montrose near Damen. We actually had cakes from a few different bakeries for my son's "series" of first birthday parties, and everyone (kids and adults) raved about both the decorating and the taste.
I would try Alliance Bakery in Chicago. They are located on Division in between Paulina and Ashland Avenue. I have had some of their cakes and they are good and reasonable!! Congratulations to your daughter!!!
Rolf's Patisserie in Lincolnwood is really good, Lutz bakery on Montrose in the city is good too, and The Cake Girls. Not sure what the pricing is, but have had great tasting and looking cakes.
I would recommend Dinkel's Bakery on Lincoln Ave. just north of Belmont. It is a delicious old school bakery with reasonable prices.
I actually really like the cakes from Dominicks. They are really moist and stay good for quite a few days. The decorating options and prices are good as well.
try Bake For Me. They have a website you can check out.
There is a Bakery a little west of Chicago in Berwyn. They are on 22nd/Cermack Rd (6634 Cermack rd). The name is Vesecky's Bakery. They mid priced. They are an old school bakery and my family has been going there forever! Very yummy! They have a cake that they put fruit(strawberrys are out fav)in between each layer and put a whipcream or buttercream frosting! Very good. They also have very good cookies and pastries!

Hope it works for you :)
I really like costco cakes and they are cheap. A full sheet cake is only $30.
Pierre's Bakery on Milwaukee in Logan Square is fantastic!! We got our wedding cake from there, it was a tres leche cake and it was such a hit! They are very reasonably priced, delicious.
Hi,
Try Sam's Club or Walmart or K-Mart. All have good cakes that are pretty reasonable in price.
A.
Costco is your best bet. Their cakes are around $20.00 and the order can be faxed over. They are also very good! You can also try Mr. Cake. Located in the small mall on Diversey and Cicero by the DMV renewal place. The cakes are delicious without the expensive cost like Pierre's. Plus they offer free delivery if needed. They can also do the cakes with a photo on it. My friend had this done for her son's baptism cake.
Sams Club cakes are excellent and really reasonable. The decoration choices are limited, but there are a number of really cute ones. And they always do an excellent job. My husband's family is made of excellent cooks and bakers. They can be pretty picky. They all really like these cakes.
We use Webers Bakery. http://www.webersbakery.com/site/epage/48691_670.htm
They might be a litte more expensive than you are looking for. But their cake are awesome!
Surprisingly Costco makes wonderful cakes. They are delicious and extremely cheap! We got a cake from Costco for my daughters Christening. We did white cake with a chocolate moose center and white chocolate butter cream frosting. The cake is moist and delicious and there are many frosting and filling choices. They were able to put a beautiful pink cross and flowers on it made out of frosting. They are pretty accommodating about design and color choices. The best part is the cakes are huge. They easily served 20 + adults (with left overs) and it only cost around $20. You can't go wrong. If you are not a Costco member, it is worth your while to find a friend that is because it really is the best deal in town. The Costco cakes are as good if not better then any bakery in town!!!
If you're looking to be budget conscious, DEFINITELY go to Sam's or Costco. Their cakes are delicious - not fancy, Bittersweet or Foodstuffs delicious, but really great and on par with any normal bakery. And SO MUCH LESS. They have books of designs you can look for or you can draw something out for them, choose your cake, frosting, etc... So much less than Dominicks or Jewel and every bit as good.
E.,
I have seen and tasted some delicious cakes from Sam's Club and Roeser's Bakery on the westside...beautiful! Last resort, but not a bad idea is Jewel's or Dominick's. They have some good cakes. The strawberry shortcake cake is scrumptious, and if you want to pre-order it for any reason, they'll do it.
All the Best!
E.
Costco has been a favorite of ours for awhile. My daughter's first birthday cake was from sweet connections on Northwest Hwy. IT was great, they can be pricey but have some reasonable cakes too. We also really like Dinkels on Lincoln. They have the best key lime pie and their cakes are decorated really nice.
Good Luck!
Sweet Honeybee on Montrose in Lincoln Square is great!
I get my cakes at Pierre's in Berwyn, but they also have a location in Chicago. They're beautiful and delicious.

Costco makes REALLY GOOD cakes for really cheap. Surprised, right? I think they are just as good as several of the expensive bakeries I have tried here in the city. I believe it's just one size, a big sheet cake. You could easily buy more than one. If you don't have a membership find someone who does, it will be well worth it!
Hello E.. It's probably way too late for this response but maybe for future events...try Costco. They make wonderful cakes and the prices are unbelievably reasonable.
