Hello all. I am 7.5 wks pregnant and so nauseated ALL day long I don't know what to do. I have a one yr old who needs me and sometimes I don't know how we made it through the day. My husband works ALL day too so he isn't really able to help me out. What I am wondering is...andyideas on how to make the nausea better. I have tried crackers and sipping coke and resting...and everything else I can think of. I need something that might be promising. I haven't thrown up yet....so there is hope that this pregnancy won't be as bad as the first (threw up multiple times a day until 14 wks) But I don't know how much more of this I can take. My house is a mess , laundry is behind and I can only manage to take care of my daughter..barely... I need a good day.......soon.
Thanks for any suggestions...
Thank you everybody who responded. I will try all of your advice. Hopefully something will help. Some days are better then others..but none are with out a constant nauseated feeling. I sure do look forward to being done with this. Thanks again though...and I promise I will try all of the ideas that were given.
Thanks again.

I also know how you feel, I didn't get sick until I was almost three months along. I was so sick that I lost nearly 10 pounds instead of gaining the weight. I tried everything, but the one that seemed to work well for me was to smell a lomen. I know it sounds wierd but it works, cut a small piece off of the lomen so you get a strong enough scent. On the days that I couldn't keep anything down, popsicles were wonderful to have. I found that the wristbands for motion sickness were a waist of money. And the sprite often didn't help either.
Good luck with everything!!
Take care :)

aww you poor thing! When I was pregnant with my son the best thing I found for my nausea was coke syrup. You can buy it from the pharmacy (you'll have to ask for it). Just put it over crushed ice and sip it or you can do like I did and take it just with a spoon. hope this helps you.

If you need help, I'd be glad to lend a hand! I've soooo been where you're at! I know I don't know you, but believe me if you need help for a day, let me know. You're more than welcome to come to my house and rest. Your little girl can play with my little ones and give you a break to put your feet up. Even if you need help with house work... we'll work something out. I don't know what else to tell you about the sickness. Sometimes you have to ride it out. I know doctors tell you to rest but that is simply impossible when you have other toddlers to take care of. Let me know if want my help and I'll be happy to oblige. *E.*

I agree with the other moms...mint and ginger are both natural anti nausea treatments. You can suck on peppermints or drink ginger ale, or drink herbal teas with either in it. And your doctor can prescribe something safe for you and the baby to help, just talk to him/her and let them know how badly it's interfering with your day to day.
I also noticed that my prenatal vitamins made me super sick if I didn't take them right after a big meal. With an empty stomach or even just a little food I would be sick all day, or if I waited even an hour or two after eating.
I very much feel for you...morning sickness stinks!!

*Ginger helps.. you can drink tea or chew/suck on candied ginger
*Vitamin B complex
*homeopathic sulphur (worked best for me)
*Hyland's Motion Sickness remedy (worked great for me)
A lot of people swear by sour stuff like lemon candies and lemonade but you'll want to be careful how much sugar you eat.
I hope it gets better for you soon, things improved for me around 16 weeks, finally!

Hello! I just received a "banana email" and one part of it said that eating a banana can help with nausea during pregnancy. I thought it was nuts all of the things it said you can use a banana for! It's worth a shot though!

Red Raspberry Leaf tea, ginger, and mint are all good... Take your prenatals in the afternoon or evening, either in the middle or right as you finish a meal. You also may want to look into taking some OTC prenatals. There is a brand sold at Meijer called Just Once Naturals "Prenatal Care." They are food-based, and has ginger juice and red raspberry leaf extract in them. They are very gentle on the stomach, and the ginger will help with the nausea. Snack often, and keep saltines or oyster crackers with you at all times. Also, you might want to cut out OJ, coffee, soda, and fast food. Those were all things that gave me bad heartburn when I was pregnant... That was the closest I came to nausea. I've heard that if you keep some crackers by your bed, eat some as soon as you wake up, then wait 15 minutes before getting up, that'll help with the nausea.

Gosh, I'm sorry you are so sick! I was nauseous with my 2nd, but not nearly as bad as you describe. Just a few ideas though...you've probably already tried, but I got through the day by having a Jolly Rancher in my mouth at all times. I'm sure my teeth suffered, but it really helped. A friend of mine would try the wrist bands that are supposed to help. Or ginger tea/suckers?
Sorry, I can't be of much help. Good luck to you!
And Congratulations!!!!!

Here are a few things that worked for me: sucking on hard candy - butterscotch, mint, jolly ranchers, something with taste that helped with the production of saliva. Also, there is an otc nausea medication that my dr. recommended - Emetrol or something like that that helped cut it down a bit. A few things that didn't work for me - vitamin B6 and those wrist bands - totally useless. Good luck.

man i can relate! i was terrably sick with my first i was on IV's the whole time! i was nausious with the child i have now but not like the first time, things that helped somewhat, were sour things like sour patch kids they have things called preggy pops but i found they wernt sour enough. also vit b6 and unisom at bed 1/2 a unisom 50 mg of b6. you can ask your doctor about zofran which is a med they give to people on chemo and it doesnt make you tired like phenagren... try eating several small meals instead of 3 big meals... there are also things called sea bands that you put on your wrist they are for pressure points you can get at any drug store... good luck and i hope you feel better!

I feel for you dear. I did that with all my kids but it is harder than the first one because you have another. If you aren't throwing up that is good. I remember just putting my two year old in the bath and laying on the floor next to her. I would try and not take medication unless you absolutely have to. I had hyperemisis with my son (that is severe sickness) I was hospitalized with iv several times so my doctor put me on an anti nausea med. but I didn't really want to. Just try and get through it and get as much help as you can with your daughter. Maybe a neighbor or other mom.
I feel for you, it takes me back. It will pass!!!

I was taking digestive enzymes for a different issue and a side effect was that all of my morning sickness was gone. I was taking Vitalzym on an empty stomach (like when I got up in the middle of the night and first thing in the morning) twice a day. I was taking 3 capsules each time. Seriously, no morning sickness after I started that. Because of it, I continued it throughout my whole pregnancy instead of stopping when the original issue had passed.

Sea bands and red raspberry leaf tea! Just don't drink more than one cup of the raspberry leaf tea a day in the first trimester. Also, eat proteins to keep your stomach full like peanut butter on toast. Letting it get empty and drinking bubbly drinks like coke will only make it worse!

I hope this helps you a little. I myself am now 31 weeks preg. and I had it real bad.
I went to the health food store. Tell the person there you want something for you m/s. I was offered 2 things. One was a bottle of some kind of pill and the other was a little bottle of somthing you sprayed in your mouth. I turned down the pills and used the spray. I loved it!! It is a water base so it has no taste and you can use it as many times a day as you need to. (wish I could think of the name but it slips my mind sorry) but if you can find that I would suggest it!! Another thing you might want to try is sour candy. Lemon heads is the best or even just a real lemon itself! I still have bits of sickness now and then (even this far along) and go back to these things!
Good luck!

all the time sickness can be rough especially with other little ones around. What I found helpful was at a healthfood store and they are Ginger Suckers. They helped calm my tummy down. That was the only place I could find them..maybe you could find them on the internet though. Good luck. Plenty of rest (even with a one year old) is helpful though also. I have four children so I know what your going through. Your in my prayers.

There is a really great drug that my doctor prescribed for me when I was pregnant the first time, and had SEVERE morning sickness, losing weight, not staying hydrated etc. It's called Zofran. It's safe to take while pregnant, and it dissolves on your tongue in a matter of seconds so you don't actually have to swallow anything ( and risk it coming back up ) It works within a matter of just a few minutes, really fast! It was a lifesaver for me. It is expensive, but insurance covers it- and I just heard that it came out in a generic form. Talk with your doctor.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I understand about the morning sickness. Have you considered homeopathy? The remedies are safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding, and can really relieve your symptoms. http://www.homeopathy-soh.org/about-homeopathy/what-is-ho... Another suggestion is sipping ginger or peppermint tea. Best wishes!

For me, the only non-prescription solution was Ginger tablets (ginger ale I guess would probably help some as well). Ginger just does a good job of calming nausea, I get carsick horribly as well, so now, I just keep a jar of ginger in the car (even thought I'm NOT pregnant) to keep my car sickness at bay.

Hello! I know exactly how you feel except I was throwing up too. I couldn't even get through the day. You may ask your doctor to prescribe you Zofran. It's perfectly safe for the baby and it works wonders. It is actually what they prescribe for Chemo patients after their treatments so they won't be nauseated. It's worth a shot, I don't know if your doctor will be willing to put you on it or not but if you let him know how bad you are feeling he just might! It's also VERY expensive so hopefully you have good insurance. I think it's like $700 for 12 pills.
Good luck!

I was in the same boat as you. Mine are 14 months apart and I had severe morning sickness.
The main thing you have to do is know that your house will be a mess all day, and that nothing will get done. It's beyond your control- those of us who have this horrible morning sickness know how bad it feels. It's like nothing else. Do you have family in town? If so, try to arrange for someone to jut stop by and help you at some point every day for a short period of time just to get things organized.
As far as taking care of the one year old, if you're on the couch most of the day...bring as much as you need into the living room, like- diaper changing supplies, snacks, juice, etc. That way you can do less moving around.
There never seemed to be anything to get rid of my morning sickness, but here are a few things I tried that helped:
-raw ginger
-motion sickness wristbands (ask a walgreens pharmacist to show you where they are)
-drink flat ginger ale, make sure you take a few sips as soon as you wake up, and eat 2 crackers.
-lemon drops
-EAT
I feel for you- it's a tough time. But at least there's light at the end of the tunnel! :)
Good luck.

I would talk with your doctor if it's really bad that you can't go about your day like normal and it's interfering with caring for your child. There are many different medicines that are safe to use while pregnant that help with the nausea.
I'm 17 weeks pregnant right now with 2 little kids at home (1 and 4) and my house was complete wreck for the first 3 months. NO ONE came into my house because it was so bad... don't worry so much about the house, you'll have time to clean later. Just spend your non-horribly-sicktime with your child. You might also want to look into a Moms Day Out program or parttime daycare for 1 or 2 mornings a week just to give you a break and give you time to rest. I treasure my son's preschool days and my daughters mom's day out day -- even if they both aren't gone at the same time, it's a nice break to have just one around. Another idea is hire a cleaning lady to come clean the house every 2 weeks or so. Good luck - I've been there (recently!) and it does finally get better!

Try asking your OB about a different prenatal vitamin. Sometimes that is what can cause nausea. Also try to eat several small meals a day instead of waiting for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is most always something in your stomach so it tends to get upset less often. Other than that I am not sure, but I wish you the best of luck! (I have always heard to stay away from mint, but maybe it would help for you)

Boy do I know how you feel. The same thing happened with my second. Couldn't get a thing done until one day I read that mint helps!
So...I purchased some breath mints and mint gum etc. It actually helped! I still use this handy trick for when I get car sick.
