Advice on Creating a Webpage...

Hi Mom's,
I am looking to create a webpage. On this page, I would like to have pictures and links, etc. It would have to hold a fairly large amount of information. I know about godaddy.com, but what I am wondering is....if there is a site that I can go on to create the webpage that I want. Or, if it would be easier to pay someone to create the page for me and teach me how to update it.
I would be interested in both options, so if you know of someone that can create creative webpages...I would love their info!

Thank you

hi there ~ if you have a mac, there is a program called iweb that is very easy to use. they have templates and you can adjust them to your needs. you can upload photos, videos etc.

in order to publish it, you would need to buy a mobileme account through the mac store. and you can link it to the domain name you purchased at godaddy. i recommend it!

Go Daddy has some templates and easy website builders... they are good for fairly simple sites. It is easy to do yourself. I love Go Daddy.. I have used them for hosting and domains for 4 years now. I used to do web design but haven't in years. I liked Dreamweaver as far as programs go for creating sites. It isn't very difficult if you know any html or basic web design. There are also TONS of downloadable dreamweaver templates.. with those you can just drag and drop what you want in the templates and viola!

Hi M. - I am a designer and have been for many years. I started my own company (www.margaritamarketing.com) when I decided to quit my corporate job and stay home with my daughter (now two years old). Web sites can be easy - or difficult - to build, all based on your experience. Being a Mom of two, I'm guessing you don't have all the time in the world to learn how to do this - so I suggest a blog - blogspot.com is my blog of choice. It's the easiest thing you can do - and it's FREE - which a Web site will not be. I started my blog when I learned I was pregnant and I've been blogging ever sense. Check out what you can do at http://babybodine.blogspot.com. Again - easy and free!

Hi M.,

Just get "Coffee Cup" software and it is easy. You can download a free trial version that will give you enough time on it to create your website, and then you can buy it for something nominal if you choose to later (you will need it to make any changes to your webiste after the trial period runs out)

Just google it.

Good Luck!

Linda

Hi M.,

We have had a website set up from the day our son was born, including having cameras during the birth. For under $9 per month, try this" www.babyjellybeans.com

They also let people buy photos right off your site and you can upload videos and send ecards.

Good luck.

For family stuff, I agree with the blog. If it's for a business, my cousin owns an advertising business and may be able to help! She helped my husband with his business website. Her company is called Gracen Advertising. You can find her at http://gracenadvertising.com/
Her daughters name is Grace and her son is Evan... she combined the names for her business. :)

i used VodaHost, they are not the most economical, in fact i'm sure there are others that charge a lot less, but i needed website fast and it was still better than paying someone to do it. they have loads of tutorials and are good at answering e-mailed questions. at some point i needed "live" person on the phone and did not spend on hold more than 10 min.
Good Luck

check out www.wix.com
FREE unless you want to purchase your own domain, etc., and then it's very affordable.
SO user friendly and fun and creative. I'm a Photoshop freak and this site is very much like photoshop in that you don't have to stick with the templates, everything is adjustable, and it's really easy to just jump in and get started. I have used other do it yourself templates and websites and this one is the most creative and user friendly that I've found. Have fun!

My son told me that if you learn HTML that you can do your own web design. There is a free site out (I don't know where) there to learn how to do it. He sent his aunt there and in a couple of hours she was putting the finishing touches on the website he had built for her. She thought it was pretty easy. I guess it comes down to how much you want to pay. If you learn HTML you could probably even market that skill from home.

I don't like godaddy. I do webpage design and have tried their services once. I would recommend Hostgator. If you need help with your site, I can help you out. If you want to try Hostgator then I can give you a code so you get the first month of hosting for a cent. :) **I don't make commission on the referral... I just know the code. lol**

If you're looking for a personal site, GoDaddy will work for you and they offer templates you can use. You could actually make a Facebook page - you can post pictures, blog, etc. Google also offers Blogger for free! If you're looking for a business site, then you probably should hire someone. My company does websites, check out our website and online portfolio - http://www.ad-graph.com Good luck!

You need a URL (from a place like godaddy or yahoo) and you need a host. Both of these things can be done through different services and you can pretty much shop around. When I created my website, netfirms was the cheepest hosting.
To create your webpage, a professional one would be easier to hire out. But you can always do it yourself too. I like Dreamweaver (but it is not as easy to use as other WYSIWYGs since there are so many capabilities. I like it because I have the ability to make my own code and edit the code myself.)

Hello M..

I used a company called Homestead as web host for my children's book website. They have a pretty user friendly software that allows you to create your own site. I later used a web person to upgrade, but have lost contact.

www.homestead.com is the site.

check it out.

My website is www.watchmegrowkids.com, this will give you an idea of the capacity of there hosting package.
