1and1.com is GREAT -- very easy to use, good customer service, and the most affordable option I found after a long search.
Please recommend a good web hosting site. One that you are currently using and like. Are there any to avoid?

In my html class, they had us use www.webs.com for free hosting. You can get your own URL (if you want something specific) from godaddy.com, but then redirect it to the site on www.webs.com (this can be done for free from godaddy). It was a lot of fun setting it up. On webs.com, you can do everything from your own html code (which is of course what we had to do), or use some of their "packages")
If you have a phone/Internet provider, they often have free web hosting as well. The problem with that is if you change providers.
I use yahoo small businesses. They have a lot of options to chose from and very reasonably priced.
i use WebHost for mine. They have a free option that works great and is NOT a 'free trial' type offer. their website is 000webhost.com - odd web URL i know, but i've never had problems with them, and it's pretty simple to set up your website. you can even transfer your website from a different hosting site if you're already hosting it somewhere else.
I love weebly.com. It's cheap, easy and a basic site is free!
I use yola it is really easy and is very affordable.
I recommend to this http://www.tucktail.com/ .Here i found the web hosting packages at cheap price. It has three hosting packages .Each has more features.
I use yahoo's webhosting and website software for 2 websites I manage. It is very user-friendly for beginners, staff to call if you need help, etc.
I have used PowWeb since 2002 and I LOVE it. It's on sale right now for $3.88/month (normally $7.77/month-still cheap!!)
Some highlights of what you get:
UNLIMITED disk space
UNLIMITED transfer / bandwidth
sub-domains
easy installers for things like blogs & photo galleries
supports PHP4 & PHP5
CGI-BIN, SSI, .htaccess, cronjobs
75 MySQL databases w/ phpMyAdmin
Web stats
unlimited email mailboxes / addresses
shopping carts
and more!!!
Let me know if you have any questions, I know them pretty well after the past 8 years! haha
Here's the link: http://www.powweb.com/join/index.bml?AffID=558795
Note to add: I've also been a Web programmer (PHP/MySQL) for the past 8 years or so, and I have worked for clients who have their sites hosted in other places. Ugh I have always disliked the other places!! Some are hard to figure out how to setup & control things in their "control panel." It's like they hide stuff or something! haha PowWeb is sooo easy. They also have a forum for you to ask questions about anything from how to use their services to asking HTML, PHP, or other scripting/programming languages.
Definitely check out domainstar.us. I use this for all of my clients sites (I'm a web designer). It cheaper then GoDaddy.
One of my teachers (Dreamweaver class) suggested myhosting.com . and I heard to stay away from godaddy.com
