2 Year Molars - Does This Seem Normal?

I posted a question last night about my 2 year old daughter (26 months) having a fever and no other symptoms. It started yesterday morning - Saturday Morning and she has had a fever pretty much since then but we are taking it away with tylenol. Today her fever actually hit 105 at one point and we managed to bring it down quickly but OMG was that scary. Anyway she has absolutely no other symptoms but this constant fever - No rash, runny nose, cough, diarrhea, etc. We are really working at keeping her hydrated and trying food but not pushing it. Anyway the only thing that my husband and I can think is causing this is that she is cutting her 2 yr molars but the fever seems way too high for this. Is it normal to have such a high fever with a tooth coming in? We are both so on edge because I am 4 days past due with baby number 2 and we are so worried that I will go into labour at anytime - Right now clearly does not seem like the best time
Thanks in advance

What can I do next?

Pretty much anything over 101 is too high to be blamed on teething alone. A fever over 103 should be evaluated by a doctor. I would make an appointment first thing in the morning. Good luck with your sickie and baby number 2!

I think that fever is to high to be from teething.

When my daughter teethed, she did the same thing. Everyone...doctors, nurses, all medical staff, mothers, etc. told me over and over again that it WAS NOT teething. To this day, I swear it had to be teething based on the following:

She would get a high high fever, have no other symptoms, then all of a sudden a tooth would cut and her fever would break. No one else in the family picked up any kind of symptom or got sick in any way. This happened at least 3-4 times...everytime she would get a new molar in, then her fever was gone and she was fine.

Like I said, I just cannot come to any other conclusion other than TEETHING. I know what everyone said, but, it was just too coincodental. Now granted I'm sure it's not the norm for teething to cause this high of a fever, but, I would not count it out completely.

I would do exactly what you are doing and treat her symptoms. Try to give her some crushed up ice. This always helped numb her gum pain as well as kept her hydrated. Continue to push the Motrin and let her sleep as much as possible.

Everytime I would go through her fevers I was a nervous wreck. Just hang in there. She'll get better.

Ear infections often do not show any symptoms, other stuff too. I would want to have some blood drawn to know if it shows in infection going on.

I know you are not in the same state, but there has been a NASTY virus going around here that includes a very high fever with hardly any other symptoms. After a few days, a cough/cold develops and the fever lasts for up to a week. It's a viral infection so all you can do is treat the fever and keep the child hydrated and stay home so she can rest.

Call your pedi in the morning to touch base.

Our ped. says teething does not cause a
fever.

I would certainly take her in. My baby and middle both had strep last week and the only symptoms they had were super high fevers.

Good luck with BOTH your babes - old and (soon) new
:-)
