I have been trying to lose the weight but I don't like taking bills,I joined Golds Gym but don't have time to go because I am taking online classes and a lot of home work. Plus I work a full time job. My boyfriend and I want to lose weight together but we need to find the right foods that we both like. I'm not that picky but he is very picky. Can some one help me out.
Hi, my name is Sara. I'm a personal trainer and would be happy to help you get started with some basic advice and answer any questions you may have.
I LOVE weightwatchers online. They are having a free trial now. Good luck!
There is a website called sparkpeople.com, It's a great help in meal planning. It keeps track of your calories, and fat, and carbs for you. they have recipes and groups you can join for support. I just joined it recently and already love it. There is also a yahoo group called weight loss buddies and they've dealt with any kinda problem you can encounter and they are there for support and great advice. Quite a few of the members have lost the weight and are trying to help others achieve their weight loss goals. Hope this helps.

Weight Watchers is, by far, the best weight loss program available. It is structured enough to work and flexible enough to fit in with even the pickiest of eaters.

I also am over weight. I've lost 28 lbs in the last 5 months. I know it's slow, but it's going! And I'm still on track. I think what helped me the most was educating my self on healthy living, that changed my life-and my families life for that matter. I read books on nutrition and excersize.
My favorite is "Eat to Live" by Joel Fuhrman. That book opened my eyes to things I NEVER knew. And now I'm on my way to being healthy.
Hi Carla,
My name is Tara and I'm an Independent Consultant with Arbonne International. If you don't have time to go to the gym (like most people) I would suggest you trying the Figure 8 Line that Arbonne has. Their products are known to be pure, safe, and beneficial and they produce results. And as a mother of 3 with 10 grand, it sounds like you could use some energy as well. Arbonne just launched new products this month that are included in this line. They have protein and fiber shakes (which are always important with losing weight), On the Go Weight Loss Chews which satisfy appetite and boost energy (my favorite is the Berry Burst), and the new NRG GO3 fizzing beverage tablets that boost energy, increases metabolism, and controls appetite TOO. I would love to send you more information about this product line. Please email me at [email protected]. I can't wait to see if this is the answer for you and your boyfriend. And the other great thing is I want to show you how you can receive these incredible products at the same wholesale amount as I do. I love to help people and this has given me the ability to help people shop, save, and then have incredible results with these incredible products!!
Talk soon, Tara
Weight Watchers is working very well for me. I gained 50 lbs with my second child and it never went away, finally after 3 years I have gotten the right attitude about it. I need to lose a LOT, like 75-ish at least and this is actually working for me. I tried Atkins, South Beach, and several other "structured" plans and none of them worked for me. I'm not good with following strict rules about what I can and cannot eat. As soon as I am told not to eat something I focus on it and crave it until I binge and break the diet. With Weight Watchers you can go ahead and have the craving, just in a reasonable portion.
My husband has been doing this with me and in the 3 weeks since I started I have lost 14 pounds and he has lost about 6 (he's not trying as hard as I am). Honestly I don't exercise and I know that is not good, the excuses are limitless. My plan though is to begin going for walks as soon as it is in the positive numbers outside. Walking with a three year old in sub-zero weather is not my cup of tea.
This diet has really changed how I look at food and how and why I ate the way I did. At first it was a lot of work measuring everything, checking the points on things, and learning how to do different recipes, but now I wouldn't go back to the way I was for anything. For the first time in years, MY JEANS ARE TOO BIG!
Carla, feel free to email me or send me a message here and I can help you out with some pointers to get started if you want. Finally seeing good results will change your life!
Carla,
I have struggled with my weight always. Not to promote one group over another, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Weight Watchers. Instead of spending your money at a gym that you don't utilize, use those funds to start at your local WW. The program works with your tastes, you get to eat what you want, it just teaches you portion size and accountability. After my baby, I was thirty pounds overweight. I reached my goal weight, put a few pounds back on, but am getting close to being Lifetime again (Lifetime members don't pay a thing). At my meetings, I have gotten in with a group of ladies and we have an email blog to keep us accountable. We report on our points, but also our life, ups and downs. It has been great. AND, your boyfriend can go to. There are about 5-10 men in our meetings on various days. If he is serious and supports you and desires to lose weight himself, he will hop right on board. THe key to success though is to attend the meetings every week. I look forward to it as if it was a social affair. I hate when I have to miss.
Hi Carla MY name is also Carla Iam a mom of a 8 month old girl and 6 months pregnate with the second baby girl.... I am also trying to lose weight as soon as this baby is born..... I would like to know how to lose the weight also so if you find a way please let me know.
Sweetheart you need to call Miss Annisa... and this is why
I have the best song in my head right now.... "One Hot
Momma"... IF you don't know my mom has moved in with
me because she transferred positions... well we were
out and about Monday and went to LANE BRYANT. THEY
HAVE SOME ROCKIN SALES RIGHT NOW... Well I absolutely
did not go in there to buy, I actually left my purse
in the car. But she said... you look so great... go
try these on...
I tried on a few things and she surprised me with 2
new dresses and new underwear. I know that sounds
silly but it made me feel so good!
Then last night I was invited to a Business Womens
Exclusive event last night. I wore one of my new
dresses and was sporting my new do. I have had so
many people complementing me lately how can I not feel
awesome.
So here is an update:
I was 355 lbs and a 26/28 in some things and a 32 in
others.
I just pulled down a 22 Oh yeah baby a 22! Can you
believe it? I can't but ... I can .. and I am so dang
excited I just have to SCREAM it from the roof tops.
I don't know about my poundage because I threw away my
scale a long time ago that dang thing was
depressing... I was obsessed with it... so next time I
go to my chiropractors I will use his and keep you up
dated.
Here are some little things that make a BIG
DIFFERENCE.
I can sit in chairs with arms in them with out them
cutting into me or my butt getting stuck! Yes I have
had my butt get stuck before.
When in a meeting I don't feel like I have to move my
chair 6" away from the people beside me so I am not
sitting on them. I still like personal space but I am
more comfortable sitting between people.
My seatbelt is fitting better.
My clothes are getting smaller AND CUTER! SWEET!
My migranes are rare instead of constant
I am taking so much less pain meds... they are now
once and awhile instead of the highest dose "safe" per
day every day. (being heavy hurts)
I no longer am spending $40 - $160 PER WEEK on
chiropractic care. like $40 per month... to every 6
weeks.
I have lost a whole shoe size which opens my windows
of cute shoes tremendously. I love shoes!
I have moved pinky rings to my ring fingers...
My bras fit better
with my new underwear they were not riding up my
butt. I know you are laughing right now but that was
a HUGE PROBLEM FOR ME... I felt like I had a constant
wedgy...
Because I am living in less pain I am more productive.
I am getting compliments on my hair, my eyes, my
nails, my skin, my appearance. (keep them comming I
am love, love, loving the positive attention)
My husband took me on a date ...
I FEEL SEXY!
So I want to PUBLICALLY BLOW JEN AND ANNISA KISSES.
Jen took me to a spa, and I was introduced to
Annisa... I bought a SHAKER BOTTLE and her shakes
because I have medical problems and desperately needed
to stablize my blood sugar. I hated breakfast it was
either too fatty or too sugary and well at 6am I am
LAZY.
So, I am now actually having breakfast and I also use
the shakes at 9:00pm when my hunger monster come
alive. also if I am out and about I have a shake
instead of fast food.
OK so last night at this function, they served treats
and it was during my HUNGAR MONSTER HOURS and I looked
at them and as pretty as they were I had no desire or
their sugar filled treats. I even had people trying
to get me to eat the treats... but as pretty as they
were I was not even tempted. YEAH the hunger monster
is getting collared. Dancing around my house in
undies and a new nighty.
SO JEN AND ANNISA GOD BLESS YOU FOR helping me control
my blood sugar without drugs and easily... the "side
effects" are fantastic. I love you both and I love
life right now!
MOOOWA my darlings!
You want to call miss Anissa her number is (208)713-4967 She truley has a servants heart and will spoil you rotten and make you feel like a princess.
Carla,
I lost 20 lbs last fall thanks to Weight Watchers. I joined online, so I never went for weigh-ins or anything. I chose the "points" system & it's really very easy to figure out & I can eat what I want, within limits. I also joined sparkpeople.com and have gotten some great ideas there.
It's tough with it being so cold out to get any good exercising in, but do try to walk or do an exercise video a couple days a week as well.
Good luck!
HI Carla--

There is a website at mypyramid.gov that lets you personalize your weight loss goals while learning about healthy eating and portions. I'm just starting out, but it is a great tool and does not cost anything besides your will power and good choices. If it is something you can do with your boyfriend you will have great results! Good luck!
weightwatchers flex plan... so far i'm down 41.2 lbs in 5 months
I'm doing weight watchers for the second time-I had great success the first time around! Very flexible food options -focuses on portion control.
My friend went from a size 18 to a size 4, and she's been a 4 ever since. How?? She started reading the ingredients in food, and decided to only eat things that she knew what they were. Then, she took it a step further and began eating organic and natural foods. She discovered that she actually enjoys vegetables and whole grains and doesn't crave snack foods anymore. Then, she asked me to help her switch the rest of the family's diet (I have a degree in chemistry and study nutrition). To just suddenly stop eating processed foods with additives and preservatives is very difficult because these added chemicals are addictive. When you stop eating these, you can experience mood swings, headaches, and other "discomforts" while the body works to remove the toxins and restabilize. If you have strong willpower, I say go cold turkey. But for kids, it will take their tastebuds time to rediscover what good foods taste like. So we weaned them from junk foods and chemical additives. We also did this for her husband. (like mixing natural peanut butter with what they had been eating, and gradually changing the proportions until eating all natural)
The results?? Her husband also lost 40 pounds, AND quit smoking (after reading about the chemical additives in cigarettes), and no longer had depression issues or headaches. The kids: the 8 year old no longer had melt-downs or temper rages, the 10 year-old's grades improved, and both kids said they felt stronger and better and didn't have headaches anymore, either.
WOW!!!
So... the next great story is my sister. She has been somewhat overweight since high school and has had issues with anxiety and chronic pain (fibromyalgia). Last summer I helped her to become a member of a local CSA farm (community supported agriculture) where she purchased a share of biodynamic vegetables and fruits. Every week a fresh basket of local food. YUM! She had never enjoyed eating spinach or lettuce or kale or chard or beets before. She loved all of it! And then she started thinking about what she was eating and feeding her family. She began to pay attention to the ingredients in food and educated herself on sugar additives and chemical preservatives. She gradually changed her family's foods and she is healthier than she has ever been. She lost a lot of weight and inches from everywhere! (size 10-12 to a size 6-8) She looks fantastic. Her skin and hair glow like I've not seen before. For years I have been trying to inform her about the importance of what we put into our bodies, but she doesn't usually welcome advice from her "little sister." Last week she said to me, "You know, over the weekend I ate a bunch of food that had stuff in it and wasn't natural, and I felt like crap. Now I understand what you've been talking about. It makes a huge difference!"
And her health issues? Non-existent. She just took up running!! No more pain, no more anxiety.
For myself, I began eating natural and organic foods about 7 years ago. I lost weight, my back pain went away, and I had so much more energy. I found that when eating healthy foods, most of my cravings went away, or I crave fresh fruits and vegetables for snacks. I also found that if I cut down the amount of wheat in my diet I no longer craved breads and crackers. Sugar is a big one for cravings. If I get out of balance I will binge and eat way too much.
The best place to find good foods is a local food co-op or natural food store. But since eating organic has become a "hip" thing to do, many products are including organic ingredients in their foods, but that's not good enough. It is important to know ALL of the ingredients. I shop at Oryana food co-op and work on various farms in the summers. Check out http://www.csafarms.org/
And, yes, eating too much will cause people to put on weight. Getting the body's metabolism functioning properly is important. Clearing out the "chemical debris" from eating over-processed foods will allow the body to re-establish a balance and it will function more efficiently. Then, with a healthy diet and perhaps some mild exercise (like walking or stretching), the excess weight will leave. Some people (like my friend and sister) will lose weight even without changing their activity level.
One of the best and easiest ways I found to incorporate exercise was taking up yoga. I lost 12 pounds without even trying to lose weight. I used a book called "Yoga: 28 day exercise plan" by Richard Hittleman. It's great for anyone.
May you and your family feel better and better, and have fun with re-kindling your love for food!!
Weight Watchers is great! 67.7 pounds and counting! It is definitly about eating the right foods and portion sizes! from size 22 to 12
Hi Carla
Weight Watchers....do it online! $16.00 a month....no real time committment and it sets you up with the tools you need....I lost 50 lbs and my mom has lost 70 lbs...
Good luck
Sharla
I've used
and I love it. It's 100% free, customizable for any nutrition goal, and has all the features of online weight watchers. I personally like spark over weight watchers because I can pay attention to specific aspects of my nutrition instead of just dealing with points. spending 10 points doesn't mean anything to me if it was all on icecream! with spark I pay more attention to how my nutrition is spread out in my foods and I can track other things like cholesterol. I'm currently preggers, but once this baby comes I'm going back to spark to loose weight.
