Kindle/Nook/e-reader For 5 Yo

My daughter loves my Nook Color and i was thinking about getting her the LeapPad, but have read good reviews. A couple i read said they wish they would have just bought their child a kindle. So, I am thinking about getting her a kindle/nook/e-reader for her 5th birthday. Any recommendations? I don't want her to have the kindle fire or the nook tablet, this would be strictly for reading book and having books read to her (she loves that she can listen to her favorite books being read by nook). Any input would be greatly appreciated.

What Are Some Toys You Have Given That Your Kids Play with Time and Time Again?

I have an almost 3 yr old daughter and for her it is the Little People All around town playset. She could play with it for hours if I let her. It was definitely worth $40!! With Christmas coming up, just wondered if any other moms had such toys they have bought in the past. I get tired of buying toys that get played with twice and then thrown in a corner!

Recommend Books or Tools That Help Kids Learn to Read?

I have a 6 yo daughter in Kindergarten. My question is 2 folds: 1. What books or series do you recommend for a beginning reader? I see a lot of different series from Scholastic, but don't know which one is good. Is there a series that you would recommend? 2. Another Mom recommended the LEAP FROG handheld reading game. I'm hesitant to get a computer game, but she swears it helped her kids learn how to read really quickly and they love it. Have you tried it? What was your experience?
