Hi, have you tryed facebook? it is a great was to stay in touch with family and friends. I have gotten in touch with friends i havent talked to in 10+ years. I always thought it was just for kids, but not so much.
Hi Moms,
I've been searching for a good blogging site for a while. I've looked around and followed some previous suggestions, but I've yet to find a place that feels 'home-y' to me. I'm looking for a place that easy to navigate & learn, a place where I could get feed back and far away family could easily check it out and see whats going on. I've thought about doing a family website too, but I have no idea where to begin. I normally can figure anything out on the computer once pointed in the right direction, I'm just having a hard time finding the direction. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Facebook..
There is a notes area where you could blog also.
have you ever gone to yahoo360? That is a nice blogging spot, you make good friends there and plus easy for anyone to access that you want. Multiply? You can also check out yahoo360friends that's one where I am at. Good Luck on your search and hope you find what you are looking for. :)
I use Blogger.com for our family blog. I love it! There are many handy options like changing templates, adding multiple widgets (like slideshows, playlists etc), posting options (for delayed posts) and such. Also, if you like to spice up your page you can change the backgrounds easily. I use http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/.
If you would like a peek at a fellow blogger, try Nate's page at http://cfhusband.blogspot.com/

Good luck, I am sure will not have any trouble finding a good site. Have fun with it!
To stay in touch w/ family, and also create a virtual "family tree" that is pretty cool, I was just turned on to: geni.com
I use blogspot.com for my blog, but a friend of mine also uses wordpress.com
As for websites, have you tried www.angelfire.com ?
I've been on blogger for over 3 years and find it fairly easy to navigate through and it's the most user friendly of the blog platforms out there.
The nice thing about blogger is that most things are just a click to add and delete without having to know code, for the most part. Once you get more comfortable and gain experience it will be easier to experiment with more advanced settings if you desire to do so.
Blogging Basics 101 has some amazing (very user friendly) information to help you as well.

Here is my personal blog to give you an idea:

Have fun getting started - it is such a fun and rewarding past time.
I have used two different blog services and I have found blogger.com to be the easiest and most versatile. Oh, blogger and blogspot are the same.
I think Facebook would serve your purposes. You can keep it as private or public as you want. You can post photos and videos of the family. You can pop in and visit with friends and family. It has been a godsend to me. I have felt very isolated moving here, and this has brought many friends and family back into my life on a daily basis.
I keep my privacy settings very high now that I have connected with the people I want to "see" regularly. There are a lot of people from high school or whatever that I am not interested in seeing, and to keep them from pinging me, I just upped my privacy settings. Just as a warning that people will come out of the woodwork, once you set the page up. But, some of them are good surprises and can connect you with friends around the world who I would have no way to visit with otherwise. For example a girl from Finland who was a foregin exchange student was someone I thought I'd never talk to again, and we chat often, now. I also have a friend who moved to Austria, and I would not be in touch with him if it were not for FB. I think it is fabulous!
If you just want to write and post and not really interact, I think a blog is fine. I have one friend who uses that, and I stop in a couple times a year to see what's going on, but I wouldn't go there on a regular basis. blogspot.com is what they use.
Have fun with whatever you choose!
My sister who is interning with the National 4-H Counil in D.C. uses wordpress.com to keep us updated. She says that its really easy to use. She has linked / added specific pictures before straight to the blogs, but usually has so many that she has a link to her flickr page to make it easier. At the end of each blog it has a tab where others can leave you comments. It seems pretty easy to use. I know that my sister wouldn't care if you take a look at hers so you can see an example of it... if you would like to do so, I can send you a personal message with the link. Just let me know.
Another friend of mine uses the Shutterfly website to update all the friends. Its more picture based, but has space for little blog entries. Your friends & family can also leave you comments on that one too.
I like both... I guess it just comes down to personal preference.
I use blogspot. You can customize it pretty much any way you want. If you use a template from another site, most of them will tell you how to apply it to your page. I think it's really easy to use. As for a website, we use Shutterfly. It was originally a picture sharing site, but it's much more customized now. I consider myself about mid range as far as computer literacy and I don't have any problems with either of the sites.
I like Xanga.(xanga.com) It's easy to use and probably like most, it has different settings and a place to upload pictures and videos. I have met a lot of cool people on there as well. My extended family set up a group on Yahoo Groups, but honestly, not many of them actually blog, so I'm not sure how good it is.
You could also set up a Facebook page. It's easy for others to comment and send messages back and forth.
I also use blogger.
I have two blogs. One I use for my arts and crafts and the other is strictly family stuff for our family that is out of town to keep up with us.
You're welcome to take a look.
